Robo Cop Gun.

Hi everyone!

I'm new here so please forgive me for my lack of knowledge on airsoft guns.

So my dad just bought this from a garage sale for 10$. We took it to a hobby store and they were willing to buy this for 500$ (It doesn't work.) Anyone know how much this gun is actually worth?

Epic!
Thanks for all the replies so far :D

looked around on the internet, that's a Western Arms beretta m93r. It's pretty rare because the only other company making a robocop style m93r is KSC. Basically, what you got there is something very rare. What to do with it is up to you. Personally, I would find someone who would be willing to fix it and hold on to it as a collector`s item if you`re a fan of robocop.

This is probably the best pic of the box that I could find:http://planetdagobah.com/auto9wa1.jpg

Hectic June 19th, 2013 21:59

What are are you in. Im sure we can fix that for ya. Would be fun in CQB.
Seen robocop the other day on TV and was wondering if such a gun existed.
Did you gas it up to know its not working or did the pawn shop?
Could be leaky/empty mag. Could be a valve knocker or something else simple.
Id be glad to look at it. Internally should be the same as an m9 ( meaning i know my way around its guts)
Good find at any rate dont sell it fix it. And if ya wanna sell it get AV'd and see it on here so you know someone who will love it will get it.

Sexiest 'race gun' award!

hattrick June 19th, 2013 22:29

I think 500 is more than reasonable. I;ve owned MANY old WA & MGC pistols. None have held value.

Hectic June 19th, 2013 22:41

I live in BC. But thanks for helping!

I'll try to explain what is currently happening right now, hope this
is clear.

I added gas into the gun and this is what happens.

so basically, I'm assuming the hammer and the slide are just somehow not connecting when I pull the trigger?

and thanks to all the replies so far, you guys are awesome

Considering this isnt being claimed as the original or one of the prop guns used in the film, and is still fetching an asking price of $2500, its safe to assume the hobby shop would obtain a PSA/Letter/Certificate of Authenticity to go with a signature on the item and resell the item as a collector's piece. $500 isn't bad at all if it has no intrinsic value to you.

GBBR June 19th, 2013 22:51

I seems as if the man behind the counter of the hobby store does not actaully know the correct value of the replica.

Its not THAT valueable.

If you keep it your keeping it just becuase of how rare it is but $500 is a VERY VERY good offer, and its one you should take

There are always some collectors and market looking for these stuff. It's hard to conclude they are not that valuable especially they are "movie-related" items.

HKGhost June 19th, 2013 23:00

Keep it. That's an epic gun. I've always wanted a Robocop gun for airsoft. Didn't know they existed.

GBBR June 19th, 2013 23:01

If you are located in toronto I can have a look at the pistol for you. chances are I can take parts from my old WA's and throw it on.

I'm located in BC, but thanks for the offer! :)

RaisinBran June 19th, 2013 23:26

Which hobby store did you go? I live in BC and my friend knows someone who wanted this badly.

My dad took it to Pacific Plaza in Richmond, I never went there myself

Drake June 20th, 2013 08:52

I agree with GBBR, the offer is probably the highest you'll ever get for that gun, by far.

Unless you're a huge Robocop fan and have some attachment to it.

But if you're looking at something you can use take the $500 and buy something vastly better (and more practical) for a fraction of the price.

Invasian June 20th, 2013 09:07

Keep that mofo!!! - uber rare uber cool

:)

lurkingknight June 20th, 2013 10:59

how often can you turn 10$ into 500? I'd have sold it and not looked back.

Gato June 20th, 2013 11:22

I agree with Drake, sell the fucker and get something useful. That's an extremely generous price for the gun, especially in a non working condition.

The ksc version is still in production and is worth no more than the listed face value. Sorry to have to tell you this :\

That being said, you could be able to get about $400 for it due to it not being very common.

Hijoho June 20th, 2013 16:00

Or perhaps maybe I can get it fixed and decide what to do from there?
I posted on the end of page 1 what the gun currently does when I press the trigger. Anyone know if that is fixable?

Again, thanks for all the replies and comments :)

GBBR June 20th, 2013 20:11

everyone agrees with the person(s) who agree with me.

this world makes no sense

Hectic June 20th, 2013 20:42

I cant see your pics of what happens. If i had to randomly guess id say valve knocker/striker andba good cleaning/lubing wouod bebthe first place to start.
When you try n shoot it does anything happen. Is gas released. Does the slide move. Does all the gas just vent. Is the slide going back the stopping?
Perhaps load a video. Or check a local gundoc. Id bet someone would take a look for free and give you a cost to fix it. If parts are available. I know it takes the standard tm/kj type hammer spring and such so hopefully the rest of the internals are the same.

Andyz1r June 25th, 2013 16:34

Hello, I think I can hopefully help here, I own one of these bought new around 15 - 20 years ago (plus several other Robocop guns including the KSC which is excellent), and what you may not know is that it requires 4 x AA size batteries that fit in the end of the gun for it to work.
You need to unscrew the very end of the barrel, then the bottom end section of the gun pulls down like a flap to gain entry to the battery compartment. Put in the 4 x AA`s (2 x positive end in at the top and 2 x negative end in at the bottom I think). Then just click the safety off, and with the mag loaded and gassed up it should work.
It doesn`t work like a normal gas blowback gun, in that you don`t pull the slide back to cock it, the batteries do all that for you, and without them it doesn`t work. I hope that fixes it for you.
In addition, can someone help me? The magazine on mine leaks gas very badly out of the opposite end to which it`s filled, it comes out almost as quick as it goes in. The mag is metal and has screws in it, can the seal that end be replaced? Thanks in advance.

Danke June 25th, 2013 17:44

A bit of a soak in silicone oil might wake your seals up. This kind of stuff, http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=623

Oh kool, it's a hybrid electro/gas system like the Jatimatic

Magnaroth June 25th, 2013 20:44

DO NOT SELL THAT... YET! The new RoboCop movie is still in production. If you wait for the movie to come out, you can probably make WAY more.

wow! you were right, i had no idea the gun needed batteries.
It was somewhat difficult to take out the batteries though, had to unscrew the whole front part to take off the barrel. Bad news is, changing the batteries didn't make the gun work :( perhaps its an internal issue?

thanks for all the comments for far!
you've all been very helpful :D

hattrick July 4th, 2013 22:56

Ok I'm eating my foot at the moment, please post pics of it taken apart...

PrIeSt July 6th, 2013 00:29

Put it on eBay. Min bid of $500. See what happens.

Very cool and neat looking gun! I am not a big Robocop fan, but none the less this would be a hard choice. On one side 500$ is a lot of money for such an item, but then again on the other side it has its value because it is rare. But I think over all it would be better to sell it to someone who would appreciate it more than I would. (My opinion)
