Help choosing vest

Can anyone recommend me a good vest? i need something modular, not replica, for woodland or all arround, don't like chest rigs, must have beltloops and something that fits well for a skinny tall guy?
Thanks a lot.

Lerch October 9th, 2005 04:27

Well first you need to think about whether or not you want an impression (issued) or if you just want an operable vest. Also try and specify the types of mags you want to carry (ie. M16 mags=NATO vest...AK mags=Russian vest).

talbain October 9th, 2005 04:36

i'm not looking for any specific impression, and like i said, i want something modular, so i guess it doesn't matter what mags im gonna carry since i can attach whatever pouch i like... am i right?

Lerch October 9th, 2005 04:46

Okay then, I would recommend the MOLLE LBV. You can attach the MOLLE or ALICE pouches all over it and it can be used with a padded belt. It's only in OD though since it's a mesh base.

thank you, i'll keep that one in mind...
TT's modular vest looks nice, also does Eagle's molle modular vest and BHI strike elite too... any info on those? how about plate carriers? are they good?

I don't have a TT modular vest, I have one of their other vests and am tickled pink with it.

Groombug, you are an evil man for suggesting those!

How much money are you willing to spend? Do you want Giant Tiger quality, or hardcore-professional-use gear?

Great stuff, great prices. Blows my Blawkhawk vest away (that's a name that'll pop up often enough. ;))

Could not connect to tiger tactical...
I prefer hardcore-professional-use and i am willing to spend about US 200 as much, thanks for offering RMV and CIRAS, i like 'em very much, but those are out of my scope.

Atomic_235 October 10th, 2005 10:26

If you want to play cqb indoor game, check for a black or blue vest
If you want to play outdoor game, check for a camo vest
Check also for the weight, the pouches etc..

$200 US is definately not enough to for a full rig. Just think about it this way, the Eagle HPC costs $198.14 and the Paraclete HPC costs $185.13. Now factor in shipping costs, duties, pouches to put on the HPC itself, and you'll see that it would be pretty difficult to get gear of that caliber for $200.

You might be able to buy a Blackhawk CRH or plate carrier + pouches for $200, but you still have to factor in shipping and duties. Your best option would be to get a non-modular rig so you can save some money.

talbain October 10th, 2005 18:33

no, i meant i can pay USD200 just for the modular vest without the pouches, also not counting shipment. Are tiger tactical products made for airsoft?

Farmboy October 10th, 2005 21:20

$200 US is around $250 CDN. This will buy you some High Speed Gear, literally!! (or TAG :D )

Prices are in Canadian dollars :D

Personally I love BHI. You can't go wrong.

Trixter October 10th, 2005 21:27

The TAG Plate Carrier and Eagle Plate Carrier w/ Cumberbund can be bought for ~$145 and $165 respectively. Then, of course, there are other brands like TT, SO Tech, HSGI.

Check out the Weesatch/Wasatch and Woosatch. If you're willing to spend a good bit more, the SO Tech Callahan and Tommyhan are $300 and $330 USD respectively.

it says your in japan try taking a look at www.aggressor-group.com

talbain October 11th, 2005 12:18

Are plate carrier vests too hot in summer?

hammer October 11th, 2005 12:55

No. It depends on your personal tolerance, fitness, and water intake.

Blackhawk

I have a Blackhawk STRIKE II I bought off this board for $115. I love it. Allows great flexibility in pouch config and is much cooler than a vest setup if you are doing allot of running. Very flexible on fit as well. You can take the back plate out if you are skinny, but then you lose that area for attachment puposes.

I then tossed another $145 (shipping and taxes included) on pouches.

I got my pouches from OPTactical.com

I bought the Patriot Performance Materials series pouches from them. For $145 I got two double mag M4 Pouches, A double M4 double psitol mag combo pouch and a drop bag. Each pouch included it's MALICE clips.

Very reasonable prices, and excellent quality. Each pouch is well crafted and has, at least for me, a perfect fit.

They shipped INCREDIBLY fast as well. I had the pouches in 3 business days from the US for only an extra $17 CDN.
