Replica RAV

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Replica RAV made by, I belive OLKA. I saw it over at Boom Arms for $160.00. I know that it's a replica and will more than likely not have the same quality as a Parcellete RAV, but I can not see myself paying $700.00 for one. Let's face it I play Airsoft, I don't track down insurgents in Afghanistan. I must say the when possible I do prefer real gear. I own a Warlord Ver. II and I love it, I'd just like that look of the RAV. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Bah, Eagle CIRAS with real soft inserts is the way to go! ;)

From what people (keep trying) to tell me, it's not half-bad, considering the price.

-_-

Just my opinion... but... I'll always buy the real stuff, instead of replica.
I'd recommend you to buy the Eagle Industries Plate Carrier + Cummerbund or the Rhodesian chest rig.
For like 50$ more, you can get the real stuff. I don't think any one has that pot load of money to buy a real Paraclete RAV... I know Groombug has it, that's all.

I've only heard from one guy that has it on his team. He has the real one and the rest of his team uses the OLKA replica. He says they are very well made and have the same cut like the real ones. I wouldn't mind having that OLKA RAV.

How much? and does it come with mag pouches?

jackyiscxd November 8th, 2005 00:22

all the accesories shown on the second pic are included. the only difference is the plate maybe not looks same. anyway the plate goes inside the vest, so basicly no difference. price will be around $260CAN

8-O
Im interested!
I'd have to change the pouchs to fit P90 and M24 mags though.

DuffMan November 10th, 2005 14:41

I'm VERY interested. I'm running a crossdraw CQB rig for both woodland and CQB for now and I need some more load bearing capacity.

jackyiscxd November 11th, 2005 02:17

WGC Shop sells the PROUD Replica RAV for $120 USD (about $142 CAD) while RedWolf sells the Milspex Replica RAV for $130 USD (about $154 CAD). Just wanted to get it out there if anyone was interested. :)

Freedom Fighter November 11th, 2005 13:37

Jacky, how well do those mag pouches fit AK mags?

If you go this route, don't forget all the extra fees attached to it.

DuffMan November 11th, 2005 14:11

At this point both the Phantom CIRAS and Proud/Milspex RAV are QUITE tempting, the deal breaker seems to be that the RAV is Around $140 WITHOUT pouches. Anyone wanna make a suggestion?

AlphaEcho November 11th, 2005 15:36

Let me get this straight... The replica RAV is $140 and you are complaining about the price? The real thing is $1000. Hmmm... kind of a no brainer there

SKI November 11th, 2005 15:44

I just picked up the Phantom CIRAS replicafrom Jon and it looks tough. It comes assembled already. I have to figure out how to adjust it as it comes adjusted as small as possible for shipping. I'll post up later what it feels like when I get it to fit properly.

hammer November 11th, 2005 19:07

The real RAV is not $1000. If you keep an eye out for deals, you can easily get it for under $350 USD.

The Phantom CIRAS looks pretty good. Disassembled, it looks almost identical to my real one.

SKI November 11th, 2005 20:54

Ok. I adjusted it and it fits well. It has quite a bit of adjustment. I'm 6' tall and 190lbs and it still has a few notches left. It's actualy pretty easy to adjust once you see how it's put together. If you don't want to drop a bundle on the real Eagle CIRAS plate carrier, this is a great alternative. It comes with all the pouches in the picture so that's an even better deal in my eyes. Build quality looks excellent but until it sees some field use, it's hard to say how the stiching will hold up. It does look properly stitched though.
The mag pouches are not exactly like the picture. There is a single/double, a double/double and a tripple/double pouch, not the three double/double pouches in the pic. Everything else is the same.
The velcro is extremely strong and there is plenty of it. There are a few strips that I'm not sure what they're for. The radio pouch fits my M9 and secures it properly. I don't see any chance of it falling out unless the elastic that is meant to secure the radio breaks and that looks unlikely.
I don't know how it compares to the real deal but it's a nice piece of kit on it's own.

It fit 2 AK mags in each pouch no problem.

BTW the TAN color CIRAS is under design right now, will be available 3 months later  . ( I don't understand why takes that long)
