ICS or TM?

Hey guys! i am currently on the verge of spending some catch on an airsoft. What i would like to know is which quality would be better and would last longer in the long run and ICS m4a1 or a TM m4a1.

Sincerely,

Clueless Newb

Grim Fandango December 4th, 2005 21:21

Did you really need to post this twice?

Read some reviews and make up your own mind.

endLess December 4th, 2005 21:22

Sorry it was an accident!

BC_K December 4th, 2005 21:25

Either.

Depends how well you take care of it/use it/ect.

Better question is do you want plastic or metal?

Cortexburn December 4th, 2005 21:28

ICS you will be replacing some internal parts sooner then later where a TM is like the energizer bunny. But as BC_K pointed out...ICS does have the advantage of being metal out of box.

Which one would u buy, if u were in my possition? just a question :P

BC_K December 4th, 2005 21:34

ICS of course.

I like metal.

BTW, Have you considered G&P?

Kid December 4th, 2005 21:41

I've owned a ICS MP5, upgraded, I put about 8,000 through that... never had a problem, and that's at 400fps, but again, only 8,000 BBs.
Now, I own a ICS M4. I would recomend it if you are looking for metal... and if trades do not matter to you, you can buy it at Canadian Airsoft for $535 + shipping, CRAZY cheap.
As for G&P, I was planning on picking one up... but, make sure you know your field's rules or are willing to downgrade. They are hot at about 370 FPS.

By the way, you and BrokenFan, STOP ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS... keep it all in one thread, or ask in the chat... preferably click search.

endLess December 4th, 2005 21:42

Are G&P m4a1 any good? can they contend with ICS, SRC, and TM?

ANd by the way if I were to buy a TM m4a1, and then buying a metal outer casing for it later on will it cost more or just be the same as buying ICS m4a1 (but having to upgrade the internal parts)?

I try to go to that Canadian Airsoft site but it has a missing url or something like that it wont let me through.

Kid December 4th, 2005 21:44

It will cost more. Metal body is about 300 and a good new barrel to get rid of wobble is 100, that's alot. ICS can be ask cheap as $550 shipped.
I do not have any personal experience with G&P. I am interested in that too, still looking at their guns... damn me for finding more money.

WOW that is crazy cheap. I might as well buy it from this site thanks alot dude for ur help!

Kid December 4th, 2005 21:49

YEAH! That's what I thought, haha, so I bought one.
BUT there is a couple catches...

-Red tip, quick paint or strip.
-Trade marks are that of ICS, not Olympic Arms. It's because their supplier is American.

So im about 80 percent sure that i will get the m4 from this site. But ive been seeing everyone with this scope on their m4 what do u need to purchase to install this scope?(sorry again for stupidity)

And one last question does the SRC come with a metal body too?

Aaidin December 4th, 2005 22:06

I don't know if you've looked at it but when looking at M4 series weapons I favored the new Classic Army guns. Something more to consider. Other than that I think ICS looks not that great (the foregrip is like something out of my darkest nightmares). So well, I'd probably go for TM over ICS.

OK, first, about the stripping... I didn't try to scrape it off, nor strip it with any stripper, although it is said to be on there good, so it may take brake cleaner to take it off. I just sprayed it.

With a scope... haha, a red dot? NONE of the guns come with a red dot. They just bought them seperately. Most red dot sites will fit directly on the rail.

SRC does not have a metal body... many say it is crap, many say it is ok.

Any reason why? Just the $10 foregrip? (Yes. it does look shiny) Just pick up a new one... or better, a RAS.

Hey guys you all made payments through paypal i assume. So can i make a direct deposit of the amount of an item to paypal and then use that amount that i put in paypal to pay for the iten i just bought?

Kid December 4th, 2005 22:32

Yep. Pay with Paypal.

endLess December 4th, 2005 22:36

I am so happy to have met u kid you really have been a major help to me in entering this sport, i really really appreciate your help.

I have just one more question i am also planning on buying a scope can u guide in the right direction (or even pick out an affordable scope on canadian airsoft) to getting a really good looking and cool scope?

mcguyver December 4th, 2005 22:41

save your money. you don't need a scope for the m4. use the money that you would have spent on a scope to buy a battery or extra mags, you know the things that you really need. the only guns i have that have scopes on them is my spr and my m700. for guns that shoot less than 450 fps it really is a waste. a good aimpoint or rds is a different matter and they have their uses even for cqb, but the best aiming device is still your sights.

Kid December 4th, 2005 22:43

No problem at all. Happy to help out.
Actually, the best place to get a good quality scope for about $75 to $150 is definately eBay. Just give ACOG/Red Dot/Aimpoint/RDS a go on there and find one you like.

Make sure that they'll fit on a weaver rail, that's standard for most, so you won't have a problem with this.

Also, he is right, a scope is not useful, the Aimpoint, etc. will be quite useful.
It's a real hell trying to see the sites in the night.
Last bit I can help you today, good night.

Sorry whats a weaver rail. And to buy a scope will i have to buy anything that else that is needed to mount the scope on? (sorry for the newbness)

Kid December 4th, 2005 22:49

The weaver rail is under the carrying handle, litterly under, the carrying handle can be removed... the handle is above the reciever, the reciever is the part the magazine is loaded into.

Weaver Rail

Here is an example of an Aimpoint (replica, the real ones are about 500)
http://www.1337tactical.com/gallery/aimpoint1l.jpg

Can you see the mount? It needs one like that or with the same part at the bottom anyway.

Now that I'm reminded by Cortexburn, YES, that spring release is awesome, and split gearbox? Woo hoo! Easy spring changes without caring about the damn gears and such moving!

Cortexburn December 4th, 2005 22:52

I like the split mechbox features of the ICS, spring release feature...I enjoyed my C15 when I had it...I'd get another ICS but I would also be prepared to dump some cash into internals.

First picture looks like an M4 with carry handle mount, RDS and socom silencer

Second pic looks like an M4 with an RDS on the flat top rail.

Third pic looks like an M4 with full stock, SIR and a GRS OPS silencer.

SRC does make full metal AEGs. The ones on Canadianairsoft.ca are the plastic versions.

If you want to put the RDS on the carry handle, yes you'll need a mount. Get one that is see through, so you can still use the iron sights.

endLess December 5th, 2005 00:14

thanx Alot for your Flandango i really appreciate it. By the way do you know of a good cheap place that i could get these RDS/aimpoint and mount?

THNX!

Grim Fandango December 5th, 2005 00:18

Check the parts and accessories section of the buy and sell. Might find some deals there. Or check any canadian retailer, or even a gun shop or hunting store would carry aimpoints and mounts. Since you're in Toronto, you can check out Le Barons.

endLess December 5th, 2005 00:34

cAn this be used on my m4a1,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7201519600

all i have to do now is buy a handle mount right?

Where is Le Barons?

firemachine69 December 5th, 2005 01:10

Yup. Will ride really high though. (Although, maybe that isn't such a bad thing if you wear a full-face paintball-type mask).

Hi! Which hand grip mount and RDS/aimpoint do u recommend and where should i buy these? Or can you guide me towards the right direction in pruchasing a suitable mounting system and RDS/aimpoint?

Your Help is greatly appreciated!

endLess December 5th, 2005 02:37

Will scopes(aimpoint/rds) imported into Canada be confiscated by customes? I just want to make sure b4 i go and start spending some cash thanks. (if this is a stupid question i am really sorry).

firemachine69 December 5th, 2005 09:50

I personally can't recommend any, haven't even tried it, just pointing out a fact. However, it's all personal preference in the end anyways.

Nope, absolutely won't be confiscated by customs. Might get a small customs fee, depending on the value of the package.
