What was wrong with the KSC USP Compact?

Wonder if the trigger will snap on the full size........

I hope it's better than the KJW! It was the worst GBB I ever howned in therme of functionnallity and feel.

It's a damned sexy gun tough.

What was wrong with the USP Compact, well let's see...

Slides crack and shatter badly on propane.
Safety catch wears out with minimal use and allows firing when on safe.
Frame cracks and breaks off at the rear.
Slide release notch on the slide peens and chamfers by action of the lever catching it, eventually breaking the slide.
Trigger breaks apparently rather easily (hasn't happened to me yet amazingly enough).

There are probably more but this is about it. Certainly turned me right off KSC guns. Thankfully my G17 is now operable so I can at least use that.

Were you firing a stock gun using propane...?

i have more rounds thru a stock usp compact than i can count. it's seen heavy sand at least twice, 1 river and snow. runs on green and has never let me down.

Yep, and the slide cracking I can put up with. The frame cracking, the slide notch breaking, and the safety breaking are not attributable to propane use (at least according to MadMax and I trust his expertise on the matter) and are unacceptable for any gun. The least of which reasons being is that two out of three are not repairable.

Well i'm not sure of what MadMax said about that, though i know of his knowledge in the area.

However, i'm sure you are aware that this is a common result in firing most GBBs in stock form without upgrading to a metal slide or at least the recoil spring.... because these parts are the ones that are affected the most. It simply wasnt built to handle propane. Knowing this i wouldnt risk it anyway. But to me it seems something such as the slide cracking, and the slide catch notch are attributed to common results of propane use.

Other things like saftey and frame breaking can also be due to the force of the slide recoiling itself and hitting such areas. Looking at it this way makes sence to me - though a word from MadMax about this particular issue would help since you mention him.

It seems we can classify these problems as not issues with the gun itself, but rather ones that are simply issues of risks using propane with stock guns.

Having owned and handled different KSC guns, they arent exactly poorly built, and with right upgrades can be very good for the field.

I've seen and used a few similarly... No problems either. I guess if it's the same KSC Japanese version vs. Taiwan version... maybe there's a few more lemons in one batch than the other...

Either way, I'd trust the new KSC USP. Might even be one of the first to buy it, if I liked them enough. (which I don't...)

It does look very nice though, and if it shoots and cycles anything like the Compact, it'll certainly make for a nice pistol.

Wow! looks good! can't wait for a metal slide. I know I'll be flamed by the 45 lovers but I'd prefer if they made the 40. or 9mm versions cause there slightly smaller.

Edit: Anyone notice the textured hammer? It looks a bit strange no?

I took a look at redwolfs pics, theres no serial number in front of the trigger guard from what I could tell. Does that mean there will be no serial number on the plate? Cause even the USP Compact has one, That's strange too.
