M4A1 rail
hey guys. I'm a newb i was just wondering how useful a veritcal grip is. Also, i just wanna ask if it is possible to fasten an under-rail to the TM M4A1 Carbine so that i am able to attach a vertical grip.
I know the tm m4a1 ris already comes with a vertical grip but i dont like how it has the moc an/peq. Also, i will be getting my accesories from japan or filipines since my uncle goes there alot so things must be way cheaper there. so i'm not worried bout the money thing. thanks alot |
Bottom mounted rails are available for the non-RIS versions of M4/16. They are screwed onto the handguard. I'll use my M4s with or without the vertical grip. If you don't like the AN-PEQ battery holder, you can get a Crane stock where the batteries would be helded. Gives the M4 a better balance.
Just don't ask your uncle to bring you back a metal body. |
thanx for the help
if i do get a crane stock, would there be any re-wiring required? thanx |
Yes. Since the M4A1 has the battery up front, you'll need to re-route the wires to the back and extend the wires. Most Crane stock kits come with the extra length wire.
|
for instance, i dont get the parts from my uncle..would i be better off gettin the TM M4A1 RIS and get a crane stock or would it still be cheaper to get the carbine version n add a bottom rail n vertical grip?
thanx |
For sure it'll be cheaper to get the M4A1 carbine and add the rail and grip. As for which gun would be better for you, that is a question that you'll have to decide by yourself.
|
I just made those mods on my M15A4.
The vertical grip is just great, i hold an M4 from ICS in my hands and that grip is just great, it take's the wheigt of your hand. My mods costed about 80$us, a complete RIS set cost over 150$us. Correct me if i am wrong on that. -Cy |
thanx for the help bruce and cy...man this really sux. i've been stuck between the carbine and ris version for a long time now. plus the whole barrel wobble issue. if i had the carbine version, i see no way of fixing it but if i get the ris i could add a rail sleeve (i think that is what it is), right? plz correct me if i'm wrong. i'm just trying to get the best out of my money.
i've read that if i were to get a metal body for the TM M4A1, the whole barrel wobble issue would be gone but then i also read that this is false. can u plz inform me on which is correct? |
metal body helps.
metal body with one piece outer barrel = no wobble. metal body + one piece outer barrel + nitro rail sleeve = even better... no weak point between front and rear halves of gun. |
Isnt there a set that fixe's the wobble problem.
Another option, sell yout TM and buy something else. -Cy |
aftica, now i can only use a nitro rail sleeve if i have an a tm m4a1 ris correct?
CY, do u by any chance know what this kit is called or wut it is composed of? i dont have an aeg, i'm still researching on guns. m4a1 being my favorite. therefore i just wanna figure out what to do when i am faced with the problems for this gun. thanx |
On the TM M4A1s, there is an easy fix to improve the stiffness where the chamber block and barrel connects. It's not a kit that you buy but can do yourself or get someone to do it. Look in the AEG soultions section.
The Nitro rail works with the RIS version but it'll be better if you can get a metal bodied M4. The top rail on the TM M4 receivers are not that strong to support such stress. |
thanx guys...i really appriciate ur help
|
i've been looking at metal bodies, and non of them have a space for the cocking lever(its not really a lever, but i duno wut its called =P). i just find it cool that the original body does have a cocking lever. is there any with cocking levers?

The newest TM M4 carbine is suppose to have a improved barrel design that will prevent barrel wobble.
You mean a working cocking handle where it flips open the dust cover when you pull it? Some brands have them working but I can't remember which ones. |
oh and for the crane stock, does this mean i'm gonan have to get a new type of battery?
|
yea cocking handle. its ok, i'll look around for it..thanx

Can i add a Nitro Vo. M4 rail sleeve onto a out of the box TM M4A1 RIS or is it a must 2 have a metal body n then attaching the rail sleeve? |
The Nitro rail will fit on a stock plastic body. The problem I find is that the flat top rail on the body is only held in place with one screw and 2 small pins.
|
thanx again
when gettin an aeg, does it include the battery, charger and magazine? |

I have a really good suggestion for you. Before you start wondering about all kinds of upgrades that you dont know anything about, just play for several months with a regular gun. After that, you will know what you need from experience. Right now you're just guessing about the most basic things. This is like asking what kind of gas you should put in your car... gather some experience first. You dont need upgrades of any kind to play, ok? Step away from the computer, go to a game/meet, see what folks use. You'll learn more that way. |
oo no man..i wasnt gonna upgrade right away neways (over 400 dollars on a gun is enuff for a while =P)... i was just asking about the options for the future. so i buy the gun that best suits for upgrades with the least money spent possible. i dunt wanna buy a gun n then have trouble upgrading it cuz it costs 2 much 2 upgrade. that's y in the beginning of the thread i was asking about all the upgrade options, which helps me choose the gun i wanna get (or get's me even more frustrated..haha). Now that i know that it doesnt come with a battery, i'm thinking of buying a crane stock set, not sure yet though.
thanx for the help |
The M4 has about any upgrade you could dream of. Same for the MP5 series.
If you want a basic colt-type gun that takes batteries that will last all day, consider the SR-16 and similar models that use non-retractable stocks. Otherwise, you'll have to buy external parts to hide a bigger battery. There are few limits to what you can add to most guns, internally or externally, except for your wallet. Until then, keep it simple and go for total dependability. That's why I suggested you go to a game. That way you'll see what folks actually use instead of just reading about it. Not all upgrades are worth it. |
