What does everyone here think is the best Gas SMG?

I'm looking for a good sidearm/CQB weapon and am beginning to look at gas smgs. What do you all suggest? The biggest thing I'm looking for is something thats very durable and wont break (to whatever extent a GBB can provide), because I know a lot are fragile.

Thanks in advance.

You're going to get more opinions then there are guns.

joker, the frickin ninja May 22nd, 2006 19:26

Well thats why i asked...to get opinions.

Well, in all the politeness I can say this, do a little more looking around on the forums man. For instance I have my own thread up right now with over 30 personal experiences with GBB Sidearms, go read it.

to save you a little more looking, its called What IS the best GBB? and please, just read. Hope this helps.

joker, the frickin ninja May 22nd, 2006 19:57

I checked it out and it said it is only for pistols. Im looking for smgs.

Amgoosen May 22nd, 2006 20:00

The KSC TMP. But dont give it propane.

Gryphon May 22nd, 2006 20:00

Since GBB commonly refers to pistols and not SMGs, I doubt that thread applies much in this case.

The list of gas-powered SMGs is short, and the list of ones that work is even shorter. The universal answer you're likely to get for this question is the M11A1 of whatever brand you choose, KSC, KWA, or HFC. Mags are plentiful, reliability is excellent, they can run on propane (with a magnesium bolt) and they're fun as hell to shoot. They may not be much to look at but if you're looking for a fieldable piece rather than a broken wall hanger, there's really no other choice.

SMG's are welcome there, I will add that. As for your question was on sidearms, and really, a good GBB will do you, but its all preference.

You like to spend your airsoft day WATCHING the game? Get a gas SMG!
:-D

I agree, which is probably why no one has asked me if they were allowed on that thread. The list is that small that sure they can be reviewed if you have one, so we can compare them and debate on them or pistols.

theres one problem i keep hearing about the M11 is that its really bad on gas.

MadMax May 22nd, 2006 23:54

G18c or G23f by KSC are pretty well built machine pistols. Good abundance of economical upgrade parts and spares. They even have 50rnd extended mags.

They don't have the intimidating looks of a M11 or TMP, but their performance is not too far off. I can't stress enough how nice it is to be able to find spare parts (aftermarket or OEM). F/A GBBs crank out a lot of shot cycles.

It'd be interesting to see a practical gas SMG. Like an MP5 which ran on Co2, or more preferably, propane. But something that had a real blowback bolt and ejection port, decent accuracy, and not a machine pistol.

Anybody know of any?

Mysteryfish May 23rd, 2006 00:58

Go searching for "Classic Airsoft"

*ATF*Aurora May 23rd, 2006 01:06

The best SMG using gas is the KWC Uzi. But one problem : It shoots above 500fps. But hey if your friends don't mind. Oh I must add that it has the most powerful kick of the airsoft history.

Sun Project M16 Carbine, Escort MP5, and apparently there's more Escort items coming out soon. Check out classicairsoft.net like Mysteryfish noted.

I agree with *ATF*Aurora ...but 1 CO2 cartridge/mag (and sometimes wont even shoot all of the bbs due to the lack of gas (probly only when shooting fullauto)...) might not be a good choice if you are planning to use it as primary weapon...

But i think they released a CO2 to Propane valve or something like that...

You know... you CAN check their websites yourself? You can also use google, read information resources, etc.
You could do all of those things instead of asking us to look for you and spoonfeed you the answers?

Shinjin_MC May 23rd, 2006 17:56

Sun Projects have been out of production for a LONG time now
Escort series gas guns are very expensive as each one is hand-made and hand-tuned before shipping em out
their MP5 I believe are based on a version of the Youth Engineering systems
if you have the cash, you can commission them to make any gun for you, although it is proabably cheaper to purchase 5 or 6 pieces of the real steel equivalent..

I am at work and have been since 8 this morning. I will be here until 8 tonight. Those two websites are blocked by the company for which I work and I simply do not have access to them. WGCShop is, interestingly enough, not blocked. At the time I posted that question, I still had 11 hours left at work.

I understand how you think I'm just being lazy, but please, in the future, be sure you have all the facts before you attempt to reprimand someone.
