Classic army M4A1 Springer
hello people of the airsoft community,
i was just wondering ( for a beginner ) i fthe Classic Army M4A1 springer ( seen on www.007airsoft.com ) would be good for me, what im looking for in a first gun is more aa compact sniper rifle, soo i seen that this gun is a springer and that its a M4A1 wich is a relitivley small rifle? so with a good scope would it be worth my 100$ to buy that gun? thanx for your time |
no
god no springer rifles(that are not sniper rifles) suck ballz sniper may sound cool, and everyone wants to be a sniper at first...because its cool...but really, you see very little action, the power restrictions really dont give you much range/accuracy advantage over your avergae gun. start with an AEG...and no, they are not cheap...Airsoft is going to require atleast $600 to $1000... Sniping isnt cheap either. There is a reason some of these guys have sniper rifles running around $1000. BUT seeing as you are 13, you are far to young for airsoft...3 years before a field will even consider allowing you on the property and 5 years before you can buy a gun. |
:O !! You beat greylocks to it!!
|
phew, i saw it and i jumped on it...i panicked there in the middle, wasnt sure if I could make it to the finnish line. I cramped up near the 2/3 mark but I powered through the pain. I needed to splash gatorade all over my face just to hit the submit button.

droc your my new hero.

thank you, thank you all.
I wanna thank my coach, my parents and God. I also wanna thank everyone who belived in me and supported me through this. I would like to thank Peter Griffin for driving me to pratice every morning at 5am. thank you, thank all of you. |
yea droc is right being a sniper isn`t all that fun it may sound cool but not so fun but if you are the kind of person who likes to work alone its a good task then but as far as getting a springer m4a1 there fun indoors if you can find an arena that will allow you play in

cudos droc, cudos.
edit ~ dont you have to be approved to be a sniper nowa days? correct me if im wronge, but from what i ubderstood from sniperchicks post is that you need to attend a course to prove that you qualify to be a sniper, which i think is a great idea imo. |

im talking about springer matches for kids under the age of 16 who aren`t allowed to buy the more expensive guns yet there are a few places where im from where you can do springer matches |

Would one of these places be perhaps your mother's basement? |
I hear the CA springer has reliability issues... but at only 20$ more than the CT M4, it's a good buy for a beginner in Canada. Plus the finish is supposedly nice, so when it does break, it will make a nice wallhanger.
|
It's not a question of what works anymore, it's a question of legality. What IS it with the latest crop of 13 year old kids who want to break laws?
(Droc, man, it's not a speed contest. Whoever spots them first, and it's easy if you check profiles before replying, gets the first shot to tell them the rules. If they ignore the rules, flame on. I was having several cold beers instead, far more pleasant) |

Shit man...Sometimes, you've jsut gotta have a cold beer. ...or 12. That's waht I've been doing the past three days. Good times. |
question
did you hit it? |
I'm wondering what reliability issues it has. I was thinking of picking one up for Springer Night at the local CQB joint (as my other Springer 'Primary' oddly preforming less than my TM HGHU M8000, crapped out)

oh i just remembered, you might like this, I have a guy who comes to our games, he a kinda.... do it yerselfer who listens to your knowledgable advise... then does the opposite or blantantly diregards it... like our friend here who started the thread.... anywho, i offer to sell him a gun for cheap.. 350 (i think it was a famas w. lo and hicap battery ect) anywho.. oh i cany afford that he says. ok you can rent it till you can. the very next day he shows up at the field w/ a clear dpms m16 vn springer which he bought for a $160 at sports check..... (half a payment of a good gun). so he used that, realizes that cocking the gun for every inaccurate short range shot, whilst the other 9 people he shoots at blast away at fully auo sucks. so the next week we play he shows up with not only his m16 vn springer, but a clear mini mp5 which cost him $60 from sports check. (now hes spent $220 for those who cant count almost the entire cost of a good gun) his thinking was "i can use the m16 for mid range shots untill they get close then ill switch to my mp5, two guns for half the cost of what you wanted me to spend, you were just trying to rip me off" yup great idea, but WAAAY too impractable. so he tries to do this, but this mp5 has a range of 10ft.... the m16 a range of 30ft, so mp5 is usless.... very dissapointed he was. i still couldnt convince him to buy a good gun because he had alread invested so much into so little... it was just impractable to him to spend 400 above the 200 he already spent. so i leveled with him, we talked and decided, at the very most he coudl spend was anothe $150, so for that we went with a boys m4. at least this has full auto and a range of 30ft. so we get that, he likes it, but wants more power out of it....
now here is the important part. he asks if we can beef up the spring so he can get the gun up to par with ours (even though we went over this before he bought it, this gun was a compromise) against my info, reccomendation, guidance he goes home that night and even though i explained that it was not possible to do and he understood, he went home, split open the m16 and then opened the m4 by popping the pistol grip open (gun is in halves) without undoing all the bolts to "peek inside" so the m4 internals grenade.... so he brings it to me and confess. so i put his m16 back together and his m4 together.... right now id like to mention, the diameter of the spring off the m16 was bigger than the m4 body itself and was longer than the body of the m4.... just would like to throw that info out there, you do with it what you wish. anyways. his m16.... i paint it and assemble it for him, make it look and work sweet.... two days after i give it back to him, the cocking lever breaks.... so he gets an allen wrench to cock it with.... three days after that, infront of all of us at a bbq, he inserts his mag then gives the mag the ol "slam it into place" that youd do with any other ar, and the front half (delta ring forward) snaps off and drops to his feet.... yay. all my time and all his money effectivley gone to waste. now mik... read this story VERY carfully... learn from this guys mistakes... no matter how you justify it, no matter how much you try, these guns are still and will always be shit. dont waste your time thinking about buying one, dont waste our time asking if you should buy one. read the faqs, this question arises once a month! pony up and buy a good used gun to start. it isnt that much money if you think about it. more people will commend you for showing up in a tshirt and jeans with a good gun, than fully kitted out with a clear springer... actually, you wont even be able to play witrh that gun. |
good stuff swatt13

springer guns
Howdy Mik,
So you want to get into airsoft eh? the law does state that you must be 18 to use any type of projectile gun ....... My personal experience .. I was only 12 when I used my first pellet gun .. me and the neighbors kid who was also 12 shot cans all summer long from atop the wood shed . And I was 13 when I fired my first .22 with my dad and grandpa watching . But that was 22 years ago and the laws were a bit leaner than today . Plus we lived far up north where there was ample areas to safely shoot.I think as long as a parent is supervising and there is a proper range available with proper targets it should be allowed . The best gun for a youth is a cheap low buck springer .. lets face it blowing alot of money on something you may or may not enjoy is silly .. besides airsoft is really meant for improving your gun handling and aiming skills . |
Sorry but; airsoft guns are not accurate enough to improve, or help, any aiming skills. Handling skills, perhaps.
To learn proper handling and accuracy, you need to join a club where you can at least use decent quality airguns, or real firearms, under supervision from qualified instructors. That can be done in Canada. Even with direct parental supervision, you cant just use an airsoft gun anywhere you want in Canada. It is not because they are dangerous, but because they mostly fall under the laws for Replica Firearms. There are many threads about the legalities (including the stupid parts). Just take your time to read them first. It will save you much grief later. |
