Underage Anything i can do?

I am 17 I turn 18 next march. I wana play games but people here get realy mad when under agers start asking. Is there anyway to get in? I hang out with kind who are 18, is there anyway I can get into a field with them? PLease dont get mad at me I just wana know if I have to wait 1/2 of a year, cuz I will not get that much more mature in that time.

Thanx
Red

AvroAero July 28th, 2006 20:18

FR allows 16+, just some people have their own restrictions.

Amgoosen July 28th, 2006 20:20

While some fields allow 16+, most hosts have an 18+ rule.

Fidget11 July 28th, 2006 21:45

most have an 18+ rule like it has been said, if your lucky a local place will have a 16+ but thats rare these days. as for getting an AEG, your gonna have to wait till your 18 before you can do that legally through the retailers or used through these forums.

hang in there and do alot of reading before anything else, there is so much written on airsoft and its important to know what your doing before a game.

RedSniper July 29th, 2006 09:14

thanx

Droc July 29th, 2006 09:37

I just really suggest you stop bugging for mega cheap crap guns. And stop talking about getting guns from the US.
Dont worry about your age. You may not be able to buy a gun, but you can hit the fields that allow +16. Airsoft isnt going anywhere, so even if you have to wait till your 18, that just gives you more time to learn and think things over. As it is right now, some of your threads have been about some really crappy stuff. We may sound like we are being assholes, but be telling you to stay away from guns that are slightly more expensive then the clear canadian tire guns is really doing you a favour. Same with your talk of getting guns in from the US, we know better and know the kind of trouble it can land you in.
I know people hate to read the FAQ section, but its for your own good. The more you know the better and there is some really handy stuff there.

Start getting some $$$ ;)

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 12:23

yeah start a budget, YOU WILL BE ADDICTED. I started out with a 500 dollar AEG, now i have over a grand in stuff, and i started in february this year...

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 12:23

Fidget11 July 29th, 2006 14:13

i just got my first.... already almost 700 and soon to be closer to a grand into it, the sport aint cheap but god its fun.

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 14:39

cocaine is a cheaper addiction. Im suprised they dont have Detox centers in asia.

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 14:42

Well , if that turns you on , you can start buying gear and start building your loadout.
I know some gear-whore that started like that.

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 14:45

Im suprised how much money people find for this, i put like 80 percent of my paychecks into this and Im nowheres near other people. But yeah, you want some mad gear for sure.

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 14:46

Time , buddy , time. If you still put 80% of your paychecks for a year or so , you probably WILL have a lot of stuff

Identity July 29th, 2006 14:53

I'm 17. Right now, I currently own a TM G36C and a HICAPA 4.3. Let me tell you, right now, I am planning to buy a motorcycle to ride to school and I need to pay for university tuition, so I am kinda short on money. Short on money = no airsoft. So I'm basicly waiting to play on the fields until I get a good paying job and hopefully play during the university breaks.

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 14:55

I want more now though! Damnit... Im dumping like 100 in my CQBR every week, and another on my .45, then i gotta get some gear. man....

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 14:55

ok so you're openly telling us you broke our rules ?

your choice , dude.

living on campus or a walking distance away solves alot of those transport woes... thats how i do it.

tuition is still a bitch though, damned expensive education these days, but i still find money for airsoft and living, the challenge makes it more fun.

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 14:58

well hang on, it says you gotta be 18 to buy, not own. he didnt break anything yet...

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 14:59

Oh yeah , my bad. Sorry 'bout that

Amazing KG3 July 29th, 2006 15:00

no prob, but you make a good point, howd he get the goods?

Deathcom4 July 29th, 2006 17:06

a good starting gun for airsoft i highley recommend the T89 its amazing

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 17:11

what makes it a good starter gun ? it's a good gun ,period. A good starter gun mixes moderate price and good reliability. Just like the TM G36c or about all TM guns

Deathcom4 July 29th, 2006 17:13

the only guns i use are the g36c series until i saw the t89 i knew i had to pull out my visa because i wanted it really bad

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 17:15

yeah , it's definately an amazing looking and performing gun but that doesn't make it a good starter gun.

Deathcom4 July 29th, 2006 17:16

unless if you got the kind of cash to spend on it

You have to be 18 to own, too. Or the adult owner had to supervise you at all times.

^Hyperion^ July 29th, 2006 17:50

Hmm , just a question. Why is it saying Greylocks posted in this thread 19 minutes ago ? I don't see any reply by Greylocks ???

Hmmm...Same thing again. Is it me ?

Cannot see any of Greylocks post, too.
Even the old ones.
So it's not only happening to you.

Me and my father play airsoft, hes not into it as much as I am however. He just plinks around with my GBBs and target practices with his home made target box.
He helped me purchased my G36C and other guns.
Before I got into getting an airsoft gun, I did alot of reading on airsoftcanada which lead today. Now owning my AEG and GBBs. Abiding by the rules and enjoying the sport.

Unversity tuition is going to set me back in airsoft since, I have to save my money for transport, tution, books, and food.

Does your dad supervise you when you shoot? If not, you have mistaking the word ABIDING with IGNORING or BYPASSING. Just because your father plinks around in the basement doesn't make him "into" airsoft. There would be a lot of airsoft players if a person just hold/touch or fire off a few BBs.

Not trying to be anal about this, but don't claim you have READ and FOLLOWED all the rules when in reality you just stepped all over them. It's one thing to not know the rules, it's another knowing and breaking the rules.

Identity July 31st, 2006 01:40

No my dad does not supervise me however, he understands and knows I am responsible enough to not do anything stupid. Come on phenom. Im 1 year away from being 18 and buying my own airsoft gun, cut me some slack.

He purchased all the airsoft guns for me. Second of all, I've been here for awhile now, and I understand the MAIN rules. I have not seen the rule that a minor/underage must be supervised when firing an airsoft weapon.

You are being anal about this situation. 1 more year and I can buy my own airsoft gun. The age diffrence between a 17-year old/18 year old isn't much. I believe that I am responsible and mature enough to understand general rules when handling airsoft, and related weapons.

I understand the seriousness and concequences.

And for the record I am not a hot headed teenager. I try to speak as normal and proper as I can.

Amazing KG3 July 31st, 2006 05:06

He is right, where does say you have to be of age to own or operate one. It just says in our rules that you have to be 18 to buy or most of the time field one.

Greylocks July 31st, 2006 10:05

You dont have to be of age to operate one, you have to be of age to OWN one. What does that mean legally? Just like a real gun, you can only loan it out under direct supervision.
So the user of the moment can be of any age, but you, the owner, must be present.
If not, you, the owner, is breaking the law.
Many dont care, or dont know better. If the authorities ever check, the parent is in deep crap.
That's how it works.

Ummm....first, those aren't OUR rules....it's the Canadian LAW. It's very similar to the laws on alcohol, you can't buy until you're 19, you can only consume at home WITH your parents/guardian's direct supervision. Just because one feel mature enough to drink at 17, it doesn't mean they can bypass the law to ask his/her parents to buy booze and drink by him/herself or with friends.

These are kind of the ignorancy we get here at ASC. Every teenager that comes here asking to buy airsoft or softair all starts off as "mature", then wham, an angry teenager suddenly jumps out of nowhere. Quite simple, Indentity, you knew the rules/laws or at least you pretended you have read them, and you just stepped all over them. I'm not saying you don't behave in a mature manner, but the fact you ignored the rules does show some immaturity.

And a lot of people would agree here, 17 and 18 makes a huge difference. That one year means you take PERSONAL responsibility for your actions, not your dad, not anyone else.

OK MODS:

I propose an alteration to the Rules of this board:
Anyone soliciting information on the procurement of Airsoft while underage, or other illegal activities (conversion of realsteel to Airsoft or vice versa etc) be banned. End of story.

I've had it with dweebs comming on here and arguing the rules the community has made to protect itself like they are special, or have a right to do so. Like WTF? I don't give a rats ass about some fool's mother's cousin 3-times-removed who got a Airsoft from his Dad... live by the rules we set out, read the friggin FAQ, and live with it or leave. It's not a debatable topic.

I second that.

Far as I am concerned, the only time a minor should have a gun is when they earn the respect of a well established, age verified member and buys through them...and the member that buys it for the minor is fully and 100% responsible for the gun and anything that happens from it.

I have proposed to the other age verifiers that when a minor bypasses our rules, that they be banned and refused age verification when they turn 18...We blacklist them and notify retailers and other forums.

Mapcinq July 31st, 2006 11:36

I can't see any of Greylocks posts in any threads either, Hmmmmm....

Greylocks July 31st, 2006 11:38

100% agreement with Lynch. This is not a democracy, and airsoft is a privilege with Laws attached.
Folks who are not old, or mature, enough to understand the concept do not deserve the privilege.
Parents who are too dumb to know better should not have access to them either.

And why are my posts invisible? If they are being auto-deleted, nobody bothered to tell me why. At the very least, I hope I'd get a warning or something.

Mapcinq July 31st, 2006 11:40

its not just greylocks, anytime I see a post by Pliskin, its never actually there. It did it for me yesterday, I had posted, and refreshed the asc main page and it showed me as the last poster, but when i checked the thread, I had not posted.

+1. Ban 'em all and let God(s)/(esses)/Flying Spaghetti Monsters sort 'em out.

Sgt_Lynch July 31st, 2006 13:26

I'll say this and shut up:

I've been very restrained in posting the last while because I found what I was saying wasn't constructive or benefiting anyone. But, lately it seems ASC has an influx of minors outright slapping the community in the face and testing our hospitality. and I'm honestly offended by the whole deal.

This thread is a perfect example. The author states clearly he knows and understands that we get pissed when minors come on here and ask about the topic created... but he started the thread anyways. It's like: Well, I know I have no right to do this, I know your all going to get mad... but fuck you I'm gonna do it anyways.

If people can't show any respect around here I see no point in tollerating them, or offering them a chance to be apart of this community.

I'm serious. The next moron who comes in here that thinks they can start stepping on everyones nuts should be shown the door. No explanation. Just gone.

Pip July 31st, 2006 13:48

Last two days i couldn't see anything by Graylocks, but now i can, maybe you just have to warm up to him lol.....but as far as this thread is concerned...Dude, just wait it out, get a job, save your cash, and then enjoy when you can legally. Grab your dad and head out to a few games, like many ppl have said, some fields allow 16+ with parental consent, so go get some XP. If you don't have the patience, then you shouldn't be playing airsoft...airsoft (for me at least) requires much more patience than paintball. And remember, it's a virtue.

Me thinks this should be locked and eaten...with some sweet and sour pork.

Sgt_Lynch July 31st, 2006 13:49

Greylocks is possesed... leave him alone.

Newbies dont have those privileges. But anyway.

The only cure for being under-aged according to the laws of this country is time. There are no loopholes for that one.

thephenom July 31st, 2006 19:53

I can see Greylocks post now..... must be a glitch or something earlier.

TheDriver959 August 16th, 2006 00:31

The only thing that can be done is to wait. There are no exceptions to the law. If you are under-age, all you can do is save your money and do your research. If you're lucky, you can get onto a field for some experience. I wish I was fortunate enough to know someone who owned airsoft, but alas I must wait until I'm buying my own to get experience. December, here I come...
