ASC was on the news today because of Necro99 who got arrested today.

This guy got arrested cause he talked about killing ppl at school or something.

He apparently had machine guns and stuff.
I dont know the whole story and cant find anything on it but i did see ASC on the news.

He was found with real steel ... I don't think this is ASC ... but thanks for the heads up o.O?

i have seen it and its not recorded but we see asc and they dont talk about airsoft but paintball... but paintball will surely try to take theyre distance ant talk about airsoft... so it still dangerous

It sounds like a random blip, they probably searched his hard drive, and came up with some old links.

I find it very interesting that the thread Wolfgang linked was shown on the news - it's a thread about why we instituted the age verification system on this site.

This as hojo said has happened before, it probably will happen again. There is nothing to be done about immature people getting their hands on weapons of any type with the current system. The ASC survived last time, it will survive this time. but perhaps we should consider the possibility of a media releas, not to the news, but put up on the main page for anyone who choses to follow up and see this site for themselves.

There is some truth to that - in fact I intend to put some text on the mainpage giving a basic description of the site and of airsoft.

Just haven't had time to do it yet... bad guys are always one step ahead of you.

After talking with Miles and calming down a bit (over reacted), this might not be so bad after all concedering the thread they showed on TV.

It actually shows that we are quite responsible and that Necro99 is a real idiot.

Who knows, might actually goes in our favor in the long run, i hope.

This is what I have on my msn space. I beleive it serves good reason, as some people choose to only look at something and then ASSUME.

Most of what you'll see are my Airsoft guns in which I've owned or currently owned.


The Airsoft guns I own(ed) are in no way modifyable to fire live ammunition, so dont be going all "OMG GUNS!!!" on me.

i think ASC should go lock down. the only people that can even get on the site are people that are registered as of now to save our own asses.

Doing a lock down right now would only show that we have something to hide.

I beg to differ, if we want to survive we shouldn't act like we are tring to hide in light of this recent event. To block out nonmembers would equate to the "Something to hide principal." We don't have a reason to hide. We do not engage in illeagal activities. While the acts of that particular idiot reflect poorly on us, we should be showing that we are not like him. We can't do that by hiding.

Well I was on the fence about changing the gallery to 18+ up until now, but it'll be less work to moderate if it's age-restricted!


Locking down the entire community because of one neo-nazi teen angst douchebag asshole is not on my to do list, however.

It's not like the people encourage this kind of behaviour, in fact, most members here are strongly against it. We got nothing to hide here.

I think a disclaimer, a really, really big one should be on the front page.

As I said in some other thread, we got some pics in our gallery that can easily draw a bad reaction from. Personally, I liked the idea of ASC going +18, especially our gallery. But really, I honestly think a bit of housecleaning should be done. The chairsofting pics and alot of the posing pics should be removed IMHO.

No, just as an example, im gonna use the posts in this thread. posters, dont take any offence.

rather tame, but really, thats all the media needs to label our entire community a bunch of vigilante potential Kimveer Gills. If you run a search, we got plenty of topics that get incredibly nasty. Alot of the war on terror threads express alot of racism towards muslims, and many thread end up in post after post discussing torture punnishments for criminals.

Joking or not, we REALLY gotta watch our attitudes in our forums.

I dont think its the end of the world/airsoft, but I do think its time that we really start to make some changes. Personally, Id make ASC +18, gallery included. Clean the gallery of anything unpleasent.

I am perfectly content with ASC being described as an amateur paintball site where we frown upon douchebags like that (while that wasn't implied in the news video, anyone looking further would get that impression pretty quickly).

That's a very interesting video, ASC is just mentioned as one of many sites this kid visited, and his posting were the issue, not the content of our site.

To those advocating the 'run and hide' theory, have you really thought it through?

Why not just write a single letter, or email, to whomever it is that you're so afraid of, and calmly and intelligently state your position to them?

I agree. You never know who could be reading, and how a harmless statement can easily be taken completely out of context. Overall, I think ASC is a very responsible bunch and it deserves a lot of credit for making an effort towards policing itself.

"Necro99"'s home PC wasn't analysed by the media. CBC certainly didn't do a forensic workup of his PC, sift through his cache files or rebuild his history to build a profile. They simply did a search on his screen name and traced him around the internet.

Think carefully about what you've posted, where, under the name you're using, and what that dirty baggage can do to others through association.

Secondly, before you post any photos of anyone OTHER than yourself, or when others are in the photo, please make sure you have their permission to post it.

Third, basement commando's and homeboy poses have no place in these galleries in my opinion.

Yup, if you google his screenname a shitload of forums come up from everything to conspiracy websites to super columbine massacre. It's quite easy to track people down this way seeing alot use the same forum name for absolutly everything.

So, if Droc or Bruce yell "*****!" on here, they might be linked to the Gay Pride forums, like the ones Apoc frequents? :eek:

Morbius' comment is worth reading over: you SHOULD be careful what you post on the internet, or at least be aware you are posting it in a public place.

This shouldn't mean you should feel constrained in what you do, but you should consider the implications of your words when anyone can read them for free. That being said, I have a strong distaste for limiting freedom of expression because someone is worried about what 1% of the population MIGHT think about what you have to say. Post conscientously: talk among friends with your friends; when you're in public, try and act like it.




That being said, I am quite content with that news item. It shows that the 18+ policy kept a neo-nazi asshole from buying guns off these boards. That is an unmitigated success in my opinion.

Agreed. Even though I like to make fun of things, and even go as low as to help noobs with their dumb questions when others just want to flame, I still keep my moderate composure to not even think about suggesting violence or anything else on here that might affect me or any of you. Then again, I'm almost 35 years old, so it's not that difficult. And beer helps a lot too. :cheers:

I AM proud that we do as well as we do around here by keeping the 'feces aggitators' in check, and our exposure so far has been very small and in this case, relatively minute (french word meaning miniature for those west of Ottawa) and showing our organization gets rid of unwanted idtios before they actually make the news and point it right back at the rest of us.
