Mrs. Lawdog needs your vote- Airsoft Sponsorship

Folks:

As some of you may know, my wife Kim is a writer.

The manuscript for her novel, One Shot, Two Kills has been selected for the final of the American Title III contest, which is run like American Idol, with internet votes being cast and the lowest vote gather being punted each month.

The plot is about an embittered US Army sniper and a CIA pyschologist teaming up to kick some Russian underworld ass. Her research was meticulous and the book was vetted by a retired NYC homicide detective and retired US Army sniper who spent a great deal of time in VN. This is a work we are both very proud of.

The reason I put this in the General Section, rather than off-topic is that if my wife makes the final five (top half) I will assume that it was from the support of the airsoft community and out of my eternal gratitude I will ensure my law firm sponsors two Ontario airsoft teams for the 2007 season.

If you would like to assist and vote for my wife, you can see the judges’ comments and the info at http://www.romantictimes.com/news_amtitle3.php

If you want to skip all that and just vote for her send an email to webmaster@romantictimes.com with the words One Shot, Two kills in the subject line.

This is a large American contest, and as a Canadian she is behind the eight ball. Please cast your vote for her before Oct 29th. We will update you when further voting periods are open.

Thanks

Russ

I will pass that request along to my wife, but have no idea where to post them.

I assume you want some of the good snipery stuff, rather than the romance aspect?

I'm gathering by the email addy that her novel is a.....romance of some sort? or not?

That Flavia Knightsbridge doesn't have anything nice to say.......what sort of name is Flavia anyways.....pftttt.

The novel is actually primarily a thriller, with a romantic subplot.

The contest is patterned after American Idol and Flavia is supposed to be like Simon. She shits on most of the contestants.

I personally thank all of you for each and every vote.

Due to the requests to read some of it, I will pull off an interesting section tonight and attach it as a Word document on this thread tomorrow.

If someone knows a better way to post it please feel free to pm me.

Her website will be launching shortly and that will contain the first chapter, but I will post an exclusive here.

Her agent tells me I cannot post the whole novel, but I'll make sure you get a fair taste.

Thanks again,

LD

I was going to suggest sponsor two or more Airsoft EVENTS, since...it's a community thing. Not all Airsoft teams get involved with the community, or contribute to the extent as they would percieve.

Drake October 16th, 2006 14:56

voted, good luck.

And yeah, why not sponsor a big national event in 2007 instead, like OPCT... or an East and West event to make it easier for people to get to.

my god if she loses with the backing of most the airsoft community something would have to be wrong.

Voted, I'm going on a limb to guess that the sniper catches his wife with another guy and wacks them.

ILLusion October 17th, 2006 18:40

I'm just curious as to how these two teams will be selected?

I also vote for the sponsorship towards national events, rather than towards specific teams. That way, everybody gets to enjoy the funds rather than a select few.

MadMorbius October 17th, 2006 18:55

Agreed, best to sponsor a couple of events.

Mercifully, my subconscious mind blocks out any memory of this... Please don’t tell me tequila was involved.

Boche October 17th, 2006 20:22

Voted.........Forget about sponsoring events, Lawdog, I've already pm'd you the sizes for our new BDU's, along with a few other goodies.

I meant "what is the selection criteria"?

Gerkraz October 18th, 2006 06:22

I think what Brian McIlmoyle meant is that the "selection criteria" is whoever is writting the cheque selects whoever he wants.

Thanks again for all of your votes. I hope to have an exclusive exerpt from ONE SHOT, TWO KILLS, up on ASC within 24 hours or so.

On the sponsorship issue, I have been making those kind of decisions at law firms for my whole career (I really enjoy community and charity work).

My thought was to put open a period where teams would submit sponsorship proposals (say in Jan or Feb or so, once I know what my sponsorship budget will be, but before I have had a chance to spend it:p ) and then review them to see which is the best fit for our firm philosophy, image and exposure etc. Since I am not a member of any team, there would be no conflict of interest. The reason Ontario was chosen was two fold, one because 99% of our client base comes from Ontario, and two, because it is a hell of a lot easier for me to drop by and see our sponsorship in action.

The idea of a national event is interesting. I'm not promising anything, but if this has been done before or you have ideas on how to arrange such a thing, please pm me.

Russ

I will definately put out the call for proposals early in the new year.

Voted.. pete, make sure you tell him i also need that $300 vest

gm_gunner October 18th, 2006 12:42

Voted...read it, really good. Good Luck.

Kurgan October 18th, 2006 12:42

Lawdog, I like your idea of proposals. I also like the idea of the Toronto area (I can crash at my inlaws)... It would be very cool if this could be something done at the national level, perhaps if you just sponsored one event, rather than the 2 event committment. I'd attend a big game next year, and I'm 14hrs away.

quikstrike October 18th, 2006 13:18

Voted.
Hopefully she wins. Nothin' like the backing of ASC, bound to get some good numbers.

On the behalf of Easy Company,
good luck!

Bezerker October 18th, 2006 16:21

By far the best opener I read so my vote is cast!

$300 for a vest? I bought a perfectly serviceable one as ASCA for $50 or so yesterday
