Unscreew flashider CAM15A4
 

I just want to be sure , do you have an idea on how to unscrew the flashider on my CA M15A4 ? I see a small Allen's screw under it. Wich sense I must turn ? Clockwise or anti-clockwise ? I think I stripped the little goddam thing, do you have a suggestion for unscrew it ? The metal saw is not an acceptable option...

unscrew the allen key and twist it off like anyother. its prob negitative thread so unscrew the other way

You screw counter-clockwise, if you messed up the tread, your best bet is use an even smaller allen key to see if it gets a grip.

also make sure your using metric allen wrenches, if you use imperial you will likey strip it more and more.

Yes you're right I use a metric 1.5 allen key, but unfortunately at the first time I turn it as a regular screw to unscrew it (conter clockwise) and I strip the screw. Anyway I will figure how to dismantle that...

Is the 1.5 the right key? I wouldnt mind taking mine off either.

I have Tm flashhider and the correct allen key for it is a 1.5
so that should work for most i assume.

if you already striped it, and it wont come off, theres a couple things you can do with doing anything to dramatic.

first try taking your allen key and put it in the screw head, then bend you allen key in there to the side to get more grip on the screw head and turn very slowly. watch up close to see if you getting movment. and it could come lose.

if that doesnt work you could drill it out, or go to canadian tire or something and get one of the drill bits that are for taking out stripped screws, i dont know if they make them that small though

i would try to avoid cutting the flashhider off, if you cut too deep you'll end screwing up your barrel threads or the whole barrel end

Get a full set, they are worth having on hand. Different allen keys (metric!) show up all over airsoft.

So you were trying to loosen it going counter clockwise and that messed it up? Before I try this I just wanted to ask, you have to turn clockwise to take the screw out? Sounds like this thing is pretty soft.

Initially I turn conterclockwise to unscrew it but I was on the bad turn. I think you must turn clockwise to unscrew it. Anyway, now the screw is stripped and I can't put it out.

Ya, I striped out my screw to on my CA M15A4, and I was using the same allen wrench that I used on my TM guns, so I just drilled it out, wasn't planning on using that same birdcage type flash hider anyways.

used this one so it covers up the extended tightbore that I put in it.

try taking a 1/16 SAW allen key...

I have a R/C car that is wierd kinda like your gun...

all the screws are metric (I mean M2 M3) and all the heads are SAW...

It it works, then just buy a new set screw (a real metric one) and replace it.

And no it should not be counter-clockwise... the whole flash hinder might be thought so check this out...

I took an 1.5 allen key to mine this afternoon. I gotta say, I don't think that was the right size to use. Maybe for the TM, but either the metal screw is made out of jello, or it takes something other than the 1.5. Maybe it is the imperial set that you need for the CA?

Will the flash hider say on by itself without the screw?

Had the exact problem with mine. The screws on the flashhider seem to be really soft. Ended up having to drill it out. Then really reaming on the fhider to get it off (thanks warwar)
Yes the flashhider will stay on no probs without it.

The last time I was at ASCA, Miles took his 1.5 to a flash hider and his seemed to fit perfect. He must have the magic touch :) I had the allen key with me that I tried, and it seems the problem was with my set. I suppose the set I was using wasn't of the greatest quality because it was a little rounded.

It seems a lot of other people are finding the screw is soft so I will just keep my flash hider on witout the screw. It sounds like it's going to be a pain if it ever gets REALLY stripped.

late reply but.... I recently also purchased CA m15a4 tactical carbine and had the same problem with the flash hider screw, ur best bet (wat i did) is take out the screw and forget about it, get teflon tape wrap a little over the threads and then screw over the flashider(a little only at the beginning of the muzzle not too much cause its hard to take off) and it will stay on very sturdy and u wont have to worry about it loosening....hope this helps...
