Star PSS-300 Pistol (Silver)
-System: Gas Power / Single Action
-Material: Metal
-Magazine: 1 Round / 6mm BB
-Velocity: 370-380 FPS (0.2g BB & Green Gas)
-Length: 415mm
-Adjustable Rear Sight

Kinda cool, only shoots 1 BB before you gotta reload, but you can't argue with 380 FPS. Full metal with a length of 415mm, it's gotta be one monster hand cannon! Too bad it's Butt-Ugly.

attack-beaver January 20th, 2007 01:47

why the hell would they make that?

-=]MH[=-RaiDen January 20th, 2007 02:30

Unconventional enough?

LUTNIT January 20th, 2007 02:33

Its hideous but somehow I'm turned on...

Gish January 20th, 2007 02:33

I bet that thing is ultra accurate though. Kind of the point of target guns.

Gryphon January 20th, 2007 02:45

It's an Olympic style target pistol. STAR is probably trying to diversify into other shooting disciplines. Curious that they'd take this route though being that they have no previous gas gun experience. I suspect they relied heavily on outside expertise.

Gravity January 20th, 2007 03:15

I THINK ITS BLINKING HOT.

Day-am.

Greylocks January 20th, 2007 11:10

They are going for a copy of an olympic grade target pistol. May look the same, but in that class you had better have your shit in gear to match the accuracy.

There is no way in hell that a smoothbore hopup gun shooting a round BB can even come close.

This only makes sense when your country does not even allow you to own airguns.

Baikal makes a superb airpistol for about $450 that is compression based. I'd go for that instead.

In this case, lads, I do know what I'm talking about.

So you are just talking out your ass the rest of the time? I should remember that.

Anyway, back on topic. Is there really that much of a market for a single shot target pistol, especially an airsoft one? Perhaps they want to try out something along the lines of those Tanio Kobe twist barrels and see what they can take it to.

Voodoo January 20th, 2007 15:16

its hot and ugly at the same sime...kind of like my Aug....

bean January 20th, 2007 15:32

IPSC stuff is big over in japan

Greylocks January 21st, 2007 08:34

This is not an IPSC gun.

Yes COMA, wether you like it or not, I do know about ISU shooting, target pistols, the free-pistol class, and many more. Thanks for the uninformed insult.

As far as I know, the target pistols are designed with a "function over form" mentality, although if you're a bit techy, something like that can look just as good to you as anything else...

For visual reference (and other details) observe: http://www.dlairgun.com/Twinmaster.htm

*note the second and third guns on that page*

They are shaped and built the way they are for balance, trigger pull, and precision/consistency.

I don't know how well this airsoft version would fare as a target pistol, but I know that the pellet guns can be very precise. This would be largely due to the counter-weights, the tight tolerances, floating barrel, the fact that it's single shot, and the quality of the valves inside.

Of course, a steady shooter helps too...

R3D HAZ3 January 21st, 2007 18:10

yo this gun looks alright man but dam it kinda turns me off at the same time:)

Greylocks January 21st, 2007 22:12

The real pellet versions are so accurate you need to use a magnifying glass if you shoot more than 2 shots at the same spot to tell the difference.

FreePistol and air pistol ISU targets accept one round per target for that reason.

The problem here is not the gun's design, but the limitations of what a smoothbore and round BB can manage.

You have to try the real thing to really appreciate how insanely accurate they are.
