A question about G18C and Gas...

Can I use propane gas into a KSC Glock 18C (ABS version), or I must buy HFC22 or HFC 134a?

arman February 18th, 2007 15:31

is the slide metal? if not i dont think so.

I heard that some people had problems with the selector area breaking due to propane use.

By the way, HFC22 is propane.

green gas and propane are the same thing. you can technically use green/propane in your ABS G18c. but its best to put a metal slide on it to reliably use propane.

So, if the gun work with HFC22, it will work with propane?

Right, but, the thing is, there is a high likelyhood that damage will occur in your chosen gun.

Although, if it breaks, not too hard to buy a metal slide then. I'd say, use it till' ya' lose it.

General_BB February 18th, 2007 16:05

Ok, Thanks guys

A plastic slide will usually crack at the front end, just below the hole that the outer barrel protrudes through.

Depending on the strength of the molding, more catastrophic failures can occur, which can vary anywhere from your slide freeing itself from the prison of its rails and launching itself wherever your gun is aimed (got hit in the chest by a G23f plastic slide once), or at the worse end of the scale, your slide will completely shatter and parts/shrapnel will fly. Seen that happen as well.

Duster is hard to come by and expensive compared to propane. By making the switch to a metal slide, after about a year of use the savings from propane usage will basically pay for the upgrade.

General_BB February 21st, 2007 16:01

I don't want to take risk, so I will buy a metal slide and barrel for the gun. Thanks again.

vatek February 22nd, 2007 10:33

Make sure you get an upgraded recoil spring and guide rod as well if you want to keep the slide action snappy.

You may be able to get way with the stock spring but sometimes the slide won't return to battery because the spring is too weak to handle the weight of the metal slide.

General_BB February 22nd, 2007 13:36

But, its impossible that I need to buy so much things, only to rock my G18 with propane...

arman February 22nd, 2007 20:12

how much did the gun cost??

General_BB February 22nd, 2007 22:45

Glock 18C : 300 $
An extra 49 rds mag : 70 $
Metal slide n barrel : 90 $
Propan Adaptor : 40 $
Guide rod : 15 $
Silicon oil : 5 $
Spring : +/- 25 $
Importation fee : +/- 40 $

Total : 585 $ CAN

Its not so expensive but... damn... Its 585 fuck'in dollars!
My last B&T MP5A5 cost me around 600$ and I don't want to pay as much for a GBB... May be I can try the gun with propane without a metal upgrade, the worst that can happend is me, dying on my room's floor with a G18 ABS slide in the cranium...

vatek March 2nd, 2007 16:23

He means duties and brokerage.

Unfortunately it does not apply since individuals cannot import airsoft guns from outside the country.

General_BB March 2nd, 2007 17:29

yes, but Mark Anderson from anderson n anderson airsoft is able to import ANYTHING from WGC or Redwolf...

That was what I was curious about...

AvroAero March 2nd, 2007 18:01

That gun will work well with propane. Only, stock, they burn through gas quickly on auto. So with the high flow I think it may be a little worse. 2-3 mags of rounds on semi, and 1 to 1.5 mags on auto I've been told. I've seen it worse in the field, but it may of been bad conditions (ie, low propane in the original tank, not filled completely, refilled mag with more rounds, leaks, etc.).

By the way, WGC is in hong kong. Their prices are just in US.

What kind of permit does he need to do that?

Pip March 2nd, 2007 19:31

Unless you have a personal import permit or license then you cannot order from outside the country. you will have to order your goods through a retailer (like A&A).

the end March 2nd, 2007 20:39

i hadf a g18c and the first thing i did to it was install a metal slide and upgraded recoil spring, and then i always used propane with it, and i have never had a single problem, no blown rings or anything it worked great.

i highly suggest both the metal slide/ barrel and a recoil spring, and thats really all you need, just stick it on full auto and your ready to rock.

You CAN import airsoft and illegal material from outside the country if you have a firearms importation license... Don't ask me how to get it, I don't know, but I know it exist... If not, Canadian airsoft retailers can't exist... How did you think they get their stuff? From their asses?

But seriously, I don't think anybody can get this permit... You must have an enterprise and your shop must respect the security laws... Its complicated... Damn shitty governement!
