Trying to determine a model of a gun.
Hey guys, im really new in here, and of course i expect to get mocked out of some of you, but to the question. Im intrested in buying a model off my friend, and i want to know what brand company he has, so i can do further research in regards to reliablity and upgrades.
How can i tell who made it? |
they're made of plastic.. now I'm no genius but I'll bet if you look long and hard you'll find a logo somewhere.
Of course, if he played with the internals then you wont know too much from just the brand name. |
you might want to start with what kind of gun it is... a whole bunch of highly detailed pictures would also help.
|
its a glock, alot of the parts were i guess modified to be all metal. including the mag.
Ill try taking it apart and looking for a brand. |
what kind of glock?
|
glock 17
|
A metal Glock 17, you're in luck! There's only ONE company in the WORLD that makes a metal Glock 17...with a metal MAG too.
Heads up, that's some pretty intense sarcasm. There are many companies, HFC, KJW, KSC, TM makes one with a guarder slide, etc. |
It might be KSC or Tokyo Marui. IIRC only KSC and TM make Glock 17 GBB. Post some pictures of lower frame.

Good thing you didn't take a picture of ANY of the markings or a full view of the gun, because that wouldn't have helped us AT ALL.
*shakes head* |
lol what do i know, im a newb... there just a bunch of random shots.
sorry for all the hassle. what markings should i be taking pics of? http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7...0101nh2.th.jpg http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9...1022ic5.th.jpg |

But based on the photos provided (specifically of the Glock marking on the back of the mag), it's definitely not KSC nor is it MGC... I haven't handled a TM G17 yet, so I can't say, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a TM. |
Edit:
Shit. KSC Glocks have the nameplate as well. Okay, after much deliberation I have concluded that this positively a KSC G17. I thought it was a TM at first, but there are some minor discrepancies that make it impossible to be a TM. What you have there is a KSC G17. |
I was just looking at the serial number plate as well, and noticed the lack of space to move...
Does the KSC G17 mags have the logo on the back? I never noticed that before, and I know KSC has had trademark/legal issues with Glock before. My KSC G19 magazines definitely don't have the logo and as far as I can remember, the 49 round magazines did not have a logo either. |
I will check my G18c (which are also G17) mags and my 49 rounders when I get home in about 15 minutes. I'm almost positive some of them do.
How can you see the Glock logo on the mag pictured anyway? I can't make out a damn thing on it besides the valve. |
All three of my G17 mags and both my 49-rounders have Glock trades present on the back.

But back on topic, I think you're right on it being a KSC or KWA. The recoil rod looks like a KSC design. |
Okay, I see it now. The monitor I have at work is apparently a cheap POS 'cause I can't see a damn thing on it. But my BenQ FP93 sees it just fine.
|
so KSC G17?
wow you guys are awsome! |
to further specify...this is a different version of KSC GLOCK 17 than the one i have...note the lack of GLOCK logo on the bottom part of the grip on the left side. is it the newer one or the older one? not that it matters except for the people who loves semi-authentic trades.
|
I suspect newer. I personally have never seen a KSC Glock with the Glock logo on the lower part of the grip, where it is on a real Glock.
It may have been present on earlier versions (my 18c was purchased in February 2006), but every KSC/KWA Glock I have seen since I started playing does not have the trades present in that particular location. |
:hammer:
|
It was on the earlier versions and removed from the more recent versions. I suspect this is an early KSC G17.
Isn't there a manufacturer's stamp inside the slide, under the barrel? |
i never saw anything, looks like some of the parts were modified
