CQBR
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...3/P1010009.jpg
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...3/P1010012.jpg Need a better AN/ PEQ and probably a KAC QD silencer. Probably a tac light wouldnt hurt. Other than that i dont think i can do to much more with it. Heres real steel for comparison. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...alWarfare2.jpg |
Beautiful piece.

The Mk18 Mod0 and the CQBR are not exactly the same gun, but it's not like it really matters. For an Mk18, there is not much to add indeed, appart from the trades on the body :p Nice build :)
|
well im either going to remove the trades or krylon it. Kind of split down the middle.
|
: ( i wish i could change the title now. i got pwn3d
|
Wrong, LMT uppers for the Mk.18 come in 10,5" while Colt uppers that are ALSO used in Mk18's are 10,3". Colt uppers are actually used more often then LMT as for the lower it can be M4A1 too. For the stock, more recent versions hae the LMT SOPMOD while older versions have the in-house Crane. Mk.18's are also seen with Colt regular and ''LE'' stocks.

I don't think m16 a1 lowers are used , man. First off, they have sharper edges around the front body pins, whereas the one in the picture does not. And if it's an M16 lower, wouldn't the trigger group be different aswell?
Anyways.. nice gun KG3, pretty damn bad-ass. I'm still stuck at the drawing boards... but I'll show ya mine when it's done ^_^ WHERE'S THE TROY FRONT?!?!?!? D: |
Okay okay, its apparent that while my AEG is nice, its not quite a CQBR (or mk 18) Aside from removing the trades, what do i need. Help for i am a young padawan. Im so used to HK weapons where its pretty straight forward, not ARs or AKs where the options are limitless. I feel bad, i wish i had researched this a bit more.
Also i doubt they use M16 A1 lowers. I think you mean they use the same trigger group. Also i posted this on MP.net and i got this post right after. I believe its the definition of pwn3d. weird trades though, but i know ive seen that lower before http://www.wargameyau.net/attachment...a2FcCE1Lri.jpg |
They don't use A1 lower receiver, its all A3 receivers. If someone else wants to be build 100% exact copy then my god i'll give you a golden cup award, but since not everything can be done in airsoft example, trademarks, the difference of .2 inches in barrel length etc... You couldn't tell them from far apart or side by side.
Give Amazing KG3 a break, at least he is willing to spend his time and money to build something what he wants similiar to Mk18. Quoted from Wiki Quote:

Depends, want to build a CQBR or a Mk18? For a CQBR, I would say get a CQD sling end plate (G&P makes one w/o trades for cheap), replace the A2 grip with an A1, 10,3'' barrel. For an Mk18, the regular end plate is possible, as well as the 10,5 incher but you would need to get an LMT marked rear sight. Older CQBR's had the Crane version rear sight w/o trades or am I mixing with the Mk.18? Anyways, all that to say that your gun is fine like it is, unless you REALLY want to make a SEAL or VBSS impression.

Im talking to some people who have used both in the US Navy. I think i want to build a CQBR. Pointers boys. Also theres nothing wrong with laying into me, all of you have corrected my mistakes still like my gun, and that makes me happy.

WGC Custom Guns:
CQBR: http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/images/gp_aeg_306.jpg mk18 mod0: http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/images/wgc_aeg_615.jpg As far as I can tell, the only real difference are the receivers... Also, several years ago, I did a CQBR replica. At the time, no airsoft Crane stocks were available, so most of my replicas weren't too accurate. However, at the time, there were some CQBR samples that used the standard M4 stock. Back then, the designation referred more to the upper, handguard/barrel setup and not so much the lower/rear of the gun. It was simply referred to as the "CQB-R upper". I don't even remember who I spoke to, but I contacted via email some guys who had access to and/or seen the real thing and said the lowers varied at the time, anywhere from Knight's to Colt lowers and the stocks were generally anything the operator preferred. I also recall coming across a national catalogue database that listed no actual "CQB-R" rifle - only a "CQB-R Upper" which could be attached to any lower/rear that the SEAL operator preferred. Anyways, check out the gallery as I have different setups shown with pictures of actual operators with the first generation NSW DEVGRU CQB-R: http://www.pbase.com/illusive_airsoft/devgru |

So other than trades i can see that the sling mount is different, and the barrel is slightly shorter as well as the flash hider. So from now on ill just call it a CQBR. Can a mod change the title? |
CQBR and Mk18 are not the same
http://www.pinn.net/~tuckahoe/ar-stuff/m18.jpg CQBR were the older models that were used near the beginning of the war as seen in that Seal pic. Seals are the ones that majority use the LMT uppers which are 10.5 while the VBSS are the ones that use Colt 10.3 length barrels on their Mk18 mod 0 Mk18s were issued to replace the CQBRs by the navy, which used reburished M16A1 lowers with 10.3 length barrel. You can check out the Reburished Date on this Pic of an A1 Reciever http://img.photobucket.com/albums/06.../MK18CRANE.jpg The Differance is Small between both rifles, but enough to be a weiny about with some people. This is a CQBR http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...04bhr4bn-1.jpg This is a MK18 mod 0 http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...-0120A-048.jpg |
thanks for the title change!
|
BTW nice gat. Its still sexy.
|
Well it was hot until i broke it. I got to figure out whats going on now! I used to look at it in my case and whisper sweet nothings into the night, no i curse its very existence! ARghghgh >: (

Inner Barrel Length
This may be a bit off topic, but does anyone know which inner-barrel length I need to use for a G&P CQBR front end?
Thanks. |
Should be around 285mm... That's what I intended to use in my 10,5''... (If someone can confirm, I have one for sale ;) )
|
From what I could find, the best inner barrel is from the MC51.

I've been searching the Internet for more information about the Mk18 Mod0 carbines or CQBRs and stumbled upon this thread. While I still have to complete my own CQBR/Mk18 Mod0 project, I noticed that there seems to be an on going debate about how to complete an accurate CQB-R or Mk18 Mod0 Carbine.
I see some contradictory statements made by some and wish to point them out to get some clarification or confirmation about how I understand this whole thing to be. Godlyspartan posted an image showing the CQBR (Close Quarter Battle Receiver) with an image of a MK18 Mod0 below it. It seems that it shows that both use the same barrel length which appears to be a 10.5" one. Then there is also another image of a Mk18 Mod0 at the bottom of the same post which shows that it uses a 10.3" barrel which has the flash hider flush with the bayonet lug. Does this mean that there are Mk18 Mod0s using either the 10.3" or 10.5" barrel? From my understanding, the CQBR was offered as an upper only and once issued assemled from CRANE, it would be badged as a MK18 Mod0. Anyway, that is something to think about since I too have been torn between getting a 10.5 inch barrel or a 10.3 inch barrel. Also, CQBRs and MK18 Mod0s use RIS instead of RAS which is not easily available for airsoft products. I've seen some images of G&P Mk18 Mod0 (special order only) kits which show a photo or two of MK18 Mod0s with RIS rather than RAS... you will notice the locking screw is at T1 of the RIS which is up at the front sight. The RAS uses even numbers and count forward from the upper receiver... and the fixing screw found at the receiver end of the RAS. I'm slowly thinking of not really giving in to coming up with a clone instead of a short M4 by using either a 10.5 or 10.3 inch barrel, still complete with LMT rear sights, crane stock, wilcox aimpoint mount, but using an M4 lower and RAS. I was going through some real-steel forums and they were discussing about how to come up with a Mk18 Mod0 clone... what some of the more experienced guys said was to simply get the LMT 10.5" upper and use a KAC RAS on it as in real life the RAS works better and is a tighter fit. The only reason the Navy uses the RIS is that it fits onto the varied barrel profiles which they've been working on from Colt and LMT. Anyway, I hope someone can clarify the differences stated above... It's been bugging me so much as well. Oh, by the way, I found this thread in warjunkies... it's about the thread I saw as well where one of the moderators is apparently a SEAL... MK18 Mod0 thread |
Wow 19 M4's....
