TRI CITY: A 13-year-old boy was arrested Sunday after allegedly shooting his mother with an airsoft gun at a Tri City home.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at a home on Hill Street after the boy’s father dropped him off to visit his mother, according to a court affidavit filed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy and his mother reportedly started to argue and the boy pulled out the gun, a replica of a Smith & Wesson 1911 pistol.

Airsoft guns are typically plastic, spring-loaded replicas that propel hard plastic pellets. They can cause serious injury if the pellet hits someone in the eye, according to the affidavit.

As the two were fighting, the boy allegedly shot his mother once in the cheek and once in the left arm from about 10 to 15 feet away, leaving small welts.

Police were called and the boy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, recklessly endangering and harassment. He was lodged at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.

The real question here is: Was this actually and "airsoft" gun or was it a "clearsoft" gun?

I hate when the news cant get that right!

They don't care what it is exacly. All they know is it's a gun that shoot plastic BBs. They would not know the difference between airsoft and softair.

Who cares, its not like we have any control over thease silly people anyway. Keep playing and ignore thease reports like every other normal non airosft player person out there. Sorry, but there are so many of thease threads and no solutions. So why waste your time on thease reports.

And in Oregon they don't particularly give a shit. You'll notice the article didn't have any of the anti-gun slant you'd have seen here or in an anti-gun state like New York, and the kid wasn't charged with any weapons offences, apart from the suspicion of second-degree assault (requires a dangerous or deadly weapon).

The fact that it's "suspicion of" may mean there's doubt as to whether he actually did what is claimed. At least in my interpretation. LD?

Who the fuck sends their own kid to jail? I don't mean to bring out the Stereotype Textbook, but I bet the kid will get sued by his parents...because in America you get sued for EVERYTHING.

I thought he pistol whipped his mom or something. Plus if it was 10-15ft away the fair thing to do was to yell "mercy" since his mom was unarmed.

Hah, i know kids who should be, and i'm pretty sure their parents have thought about it.

Kids are NOT dumb, and these days they know they are untouchable. I know kids who hit their parents, if their parents ground em they just sneak out, hell even "borrow" the family car (while underage). They know the cops are just gonna slap em on the wrist and their parents can't do crap due to the whole "touch me, i call childrens aid".

Ground em? That'll work until they just decide to walk outta the house. Can't hit em, and they get locked in their rooms to try to enforce grounding, they can pull unlawfull confinement charges on their parents.

Hell, i'm surprised we haven't had many lawsuits or the like from kids who were "emotionally damaged" by their parents yelling at them, or not giving them 50$ so they could buy "blah blah" clothes to fit in. Not being able to fit in with the popular crowd is very damaging to ones self esteem after all.

And at the WORST, if it DOES look like the cops are gonna charge em (like the kid in this particular article that shot his mom), just blame it on a video game, they make EXCELLENT scapegoats =) The poor child didn't know any better, he was just emulating what he saw in a video game

God, I dont understand kids these days, where has the respect for parents and elders gone? Mother of God if I woulda stepped outa line my mother woulda knocked me senseless with an oatmeal spoon. Im not saying that physical punishment is what is needed, Im just thinking that some parents gotta get a little meaner with their kids. For that kid to even think of shooting his mom with anything is utterly insane...I guess thats why Maury manages to feed himself with all his "my teen is out of control" shows, and why we have so many bloody "teenager bootcamp"shows. Ugh, it shouldnt be relality tv. Im sorta speechless.

In moderation, I somewhat agree. Its unfortunate that this occurance was related to airsoft but its even more unfortunete that that kids are being little tard bags these days.

There's more context that is being left out; the fact that they were fighting. I'm not saying that this is a good or usual way to act in an arguement, but angry people can do really screwed up and stupid things.

It makes you wonder though, this kid shot his mother with a shitsoft, I wonder what his attitude would be with real firearms.
