Phantom CIRAS
 

Any idea what retailers sell them new?
Ive searched and found RAV units, but not CIRAS.

RAV seems to be similar, but i dont think they are the same product.
Googling turned up nothing and i cannot find any retailers that have the "ciras" units new.

I think C.I.R.A.S stands for Combat Integrated Releasable Armor System

as for the RAV stands for... um... lol no idea

Anyway the CIRAS falls off at the tug of a cord where as the Rav I believe doesn't

They don't make them any more b/c Eagle started to bitch.

RAV = Releasable Armour Vest made by Paraclette, now bought out by........?

There are other vests that fall into the releasable catagory now:

Tactical Assault Gear RAC
HSGI Centurion

I believe Blackhawk and others make them as well.

They all do basically the same thing, fall apart when the "oh shit" handle is pulled.

I'm sure anyone would bitch if they sunk a ton of money and time into coming up with a new design and then had another company steal the design and name and started making it at half the price with cheaper labour and materials. Quite a few companies have looked at lawsuits however most of the companies or individuals knocking off gear and other products are to small to be bothered with. Being in another country is also a huge limitation in going after someone.

I have a Phantom CIRAS Maritime in OD and must admit I quite love it.

I see most people use the Maritime version over the land. Is there a reason for this? I know they break apart differently, but thats about all i know about it.

I think the Maritime version rises closer to your neck than the land version.

I originally bought mine from ASCA and chose the Maritime because I found its look nicer. No other reason than that.

now i just have to find one in L or XL in OD :s
Im tall so i dont want the Ciras Riding high. Need it to cover my whole upper.

Maritime version is RARE to get these days...check overseas retailers...

People prefer the maritime because of the cleaner front. The land version has a small square panel in the front that prevents attaching large pouches across it.

If you think of going with an overseas retailer check out Uncompany. They got a bunch of new models in stock, but be sure to have an order that's worth while cause the customs charges are a pain.

I got my Tango TCV-CIRAS (multicam) Maritime version from them and I'm quite satisfied. Their Bdus are odd though... But that's probably cause I'm a scrony lil' bugger.

RAV fulls apart with a pull string too, of a different design, but an idea in practice which predates the CIRAS by quite a while.

Land is hardly used by any real units anymore, if I remember right it is mainly issued to EOD units now.

The Maritime is in use by just about every US special ops unit I can think of.

As well, practically speaking the maritime imo is a better model. Land opens with a square at the front...ugh, ok, not the best description, lets just say its inconvenient at times, and you should get a maritime if you find one.

As i said to you via pm, try contacting jackyiscxd. I bought (for me and my bro) 2 coyote brown medium maritime ciras with hydration pack in the last 3 weeks.

He has good price and a really good service (had my ciras 3 days after i paid them). You really cant go wrong by doing business with him (was the 4 time i deal with him)

What he is trying to say, is search. Though I'm not really sure how much use you'll get out of that vest given that a number of hosts weren't too impressed with your little outburst at Shah-i-kot.

In any case that is something for another thread. Eagle sells an uparmour kit that includes thorat, groin, shoulders and deltoid panels for the CIRAS. It is for the most part compatbile with the Phantom rig.

Don't buy that.

That is not a CIRAS in anything but name and a vague design copy.

The Phantom is a far superior copy which is 95% accurage save for the color a bit, notably on what is supposed to be the smoke green (od?) velcro, and comes with more stuff, the price will work out to be similar too.

1337 Tactical charges in the 230+ CDN range for the Phantom ciras fully loaded with pouches.

75+20 UKP is about 200 CDN, not including the customs fees, and the fact that it doesn't come fully loaded, nor is it a good ciras copy.

I dont have any problems with hosts or joining games Goldman. There was never an outburst, and id appreciate it if you kept your comments regarding this issue to yourself. However, thank you for your help. Ill look up the eagle shoulderpads.

Just a heads up about the uparmour kit - Eagle Coyote brown matches the phantom one very closley, though the only place i've seen it in stock latley was Triad Tactical... Daves *might* be an option as the seem to be carrying CB eagle gear now.

Unless your the wrong DA, you were involved in a safe zone shooting with one of the BWN guys, an incident that had a nmber of witnesses, Hence your removal from the first zombie game, or did that not happen either?

OD is easier to find than coyote or tan... Triad is probably still your best bet, though I understand that One Shot is now carrier the OD and tan Uparmour kits. Remember shoulders ARENT the arm protectors, shoulders go under the built in shoulder pads in the CIRAS to protect the area infront of you not covered by the throat coverage, it is also here the DELTOIDS (the ones that cover the top of your arm) connect to. You will also want to get some closed cell foam, as they ship with just the cordura carrier, no filler.

Gee you seem to have forgotten that you are banned at Wolfpack Events, Snowdragon Games, and a couple more teams. I guess if you pretend something did not happen it will go away eh? I would trust Wolfpacks rendition over yours in a heartbeat. I was at the game.

WP still beleives it was in a safezone, but that was not the case.
Nor were any WP members awake at the time.

The Eagle shoulderguards arnt the ones im thinking of.
I was thinking of the pauldron style ones that Zeon has on his armour carrier.

Disgusted, that simply isnt true SD Made that descision based on a one sided story and decided that due to the issue revolving around this they didnt want to take a risk. I have not been banned by anyone else. I had plenty of witnesses at the game too.
You were also asked my forum moderators not to go on about this since the matter was already closed.

Given that WP were the event hosts, and the primary event being over, sleeping areas were designated safe areas, its common sense. Also many team members were awake, we invited a number of other players who we saw at the time for breakfast in town. Regardless of what you *believe* the game organizers, and other players with you recognized the sleeping area as a no-fire zone after the primary event had ended, you engaged a player in the safe zone maliciously.

In any case, there are no pauldron style armour kits for the CIRAS. Those are a style unique to the CF body armour systems. Your best bet would be to get a CF style carrier and try to track down the pauldrons (ie i have a pair in cadpat AR [pauldrons], but nothing to attach them to.)

The standard kit is more of the SWAT body armour style.

The banning is ongoing, thus it is a current issue.

The deltoid armour looks better in the picture. I stopped wearing mine soon as I got it. It looks cool but is a waste of money. I do however, like the neck protection and shoulder pads.

So, I can't remember, was it the fully upgraded MP5, or the fully upgraded M249 that unloaded a mag into your face and didn't leave one mark? Anywho, you'd be wasting your money buying a CIRAS. Best to put the money towards someone to help keep your stories straight.

You were given the oppertunity to give your side of the story both here and on our boards, your story didn't add up (ie the changing AEG burst story you went on about).

Back on topic - pauldron armour for ciras - you might be ble to modify the canadian ones to work actually, looking at mine i think you could rig up a eagle style connection, though i'm not sure how stable it would be on the shoulder.

It was an upgraded 249 he had shot me with earlier, as well as emptying a full mag of an MP5 point blank in my face in which he himself admitted to doing. several times. My story has always been straight. The guy admits all of this himself, just WP (who wasnt even there) thinks otherwise. Again, the previous thread was locked. Forum mods had asked you not post about something that you werent even there for. My issue was with scarecrow and claymore, you or disgusted or anyone else had nothing to do with this. And my side of the story was consistant throughout the whole issue.

I never said anything about burst, nowhere did i even say burst. Semi auto with 249, and full auto with MP5 two seperate cases.

They are on the Canadian frag vests. I have a set that I was able to get by chance. For the CF frag vest expect to drop $400 + for the carrier alone.

Are you implying that you were shot in the face by both a hot 249 and mp5? From post 18 in the locked thread: "Spawn 208 Decidedly Blindfired his hole damn mag on full Auto of his MP5SD into my face without looking even what he was shooting at."

then in post 20, "i was shot with an upgraded 249 SAW." You claim to have been shot twice malicously, though the weapons change, and you had no physical indication of injury. You also involved me, as at several points in that thread you mention talking to me, or having me on MSN when I dont have you, nor do i have any logged chats from you. Also in that post, you admit to the area being a safe zone. It should also be noticed that your witness black 208 puts this disclaimer infront of his post: "okay. ive just talked to my teammate. and here is his account of what happened from his point of view. (*note: i am neutral to this incident)" This is in post 21 i think. Not exactly a strong witness.

Edit - late addition - This admission you referr to all the time, was an admission that you were Friendly Fired IN THE GAME. No one from BWN implies that they were shooting you for fun in the safe area.

No, i was shot in the ass by the 249 earlier when i was with the two CF guys.
he had later full autoed me with the MP5SD. I didnt say hot MP5, i said hot SAW. I dont need an injury to prove it, he himself admitted it. Wether i got a scar or a bleeder was not the issue at hand. I involved you only in the sense that you could have send me a msg via msn about this. Since i had no idea they were even trying to contact me. Also it was completely ureasonable for wp to expect me to be on their forums 3 weeks after the game since i had no reason to even go there to receive their msgs. Scarecrow was fully capable of pming me on ASC and he had not even tried.

I had also said "In the very same safe zone that he claimed".
Spawn mistook it as a safezone, tho no safezone was plotted. According to scarecrow and Claymore, they claimed i was within the safezone of the market. I was nowhere near the market considering i was over the bridge near the road. I was one of the 4 organizers of that skirmish. NO safezone was plotted other than the existing ones WP had described two days before. I was just saying that he claimed that i did something in the very place he had done to me twice.

I have not seen just the pauldrons for sale anywhere. As I said I have a spare set, but that was a convineint accident.

Well some of us were just suprised to see you buying instead of selling, implying that you think you still have a palce in the southern ontario community after your malicious attack.

It was not malicious. Im not retracting my story, its there for record exactly as i had stated it. Im buying and selling because tho i have no intention of going to any further WP games, no other organizer had the same feelings. Some had even sympathized with me considering what spawn had done to me. After talking with a few game organizers, they had said that most of them woulda punched him for doing what he did to me. Nothing i had done was against the rules or against any safety problems. And nothing was malicious as was stated by players who wernt there. I have no grudge against you goldman, or spawn dispite what he did. I even offered him a drink with us after. My beef is with claymore and scarecrow.

Hes not lying, I didnt punch him either. He himself admitted to shooting me like that. He was just mistaken in assuming that it was a safezone since he joined in our skirmish afterwards.

I didnt join his team. I was one of the first four who started it.
Myself, the 2 cf guys, and black208 were the ones who first started the skirmish, Foxhound join in almost right after we started as he was getting ammo from the tents. I have video proof of this and had even took 3 videos of us playing b4 he had even joined in. Erik2 can vouch for that, as he was there (we were talking about his 203 shots and the mercy at the end of the video). Spawn was mistaken, he had made an assumption that was incorrect (He had joined in our game, in which we had not setup safe zones, he assumed i was using black208's pistol and he assumed that the middle of the field was a safezone in which it obviously wasnt considering i was one of the last survivors vs the last survivor wearing that russian sailor outfit in a skirmish which was on that very same spot). Nothing more. I never called him an asshole. Hes also mistaken since i didn't take a pistol from my buddy. I have my own pistol, he accused black208 of giving me a pistol (He didnt even own a pistol at the time). Alot of his story was put together with assumptions. Whether WP beleives it is none of my business. Spawn had admitted to full autoing me, though WP still seems to think that never happened and claim im lying about it. Your proving my point with his own posts.

i was at the game. but werent aware of what had happened.
so therefore thats why i am neutral. on the other hand. i see a alot of biases from WP members. i understand you are suppose to support your own team but..

i was also neutral because it has become one of those incidents where everyone has their side of their story. you just dont know who to trust anymore.

also regarding the change stories and what not. i believe its because alot of people didnt even bother to read all the posts DA had posted in the original thread as soon as he posted something long. i can recall one member saying "that hurts my eyes. i am not reading that"
