New To Airsoft!:)

Just like to say hi to everyone...my names andrew..obviously, im just getting into airsoft. I bought an airsoft gun from walmart months ago and thought it was interesting and now i just ordered a m4a1 carbin and im going to upgrade it and hopefully have the chance to come out one time and get in a game with you guys

Just one question..

If i really want to get into airsoft, what should i look into buying..the gun is pretty good its not plastic most of its metal..but internals an exterior..shoots about 350fps if i member correctly...should i get a camo outfit or anythign?

All suggestions are appreciated.

First fill out your profile so you can meet local players. Since you left out your age most clubs require players to be over 18. other than that pick up a set of BDUs, some good eye protection, and some extra mags and a way to carry them (vest ect.). A good pair of boots prevents twisted ankles too.

.Andrew. August 4th, 2007 13:16

What are BDU's im lookin into goggles..helmets and stuff like that right now..im going for a united states outfit if i can find one...no offence to canadian military just dont like the look of it lol

.Andrew. August 4th, 2007 13:17

When i get my gun...do i need to keep the orange tip on for events and stuff or can i paint it black

ancorp August 4th, 2007 13:18

Hey Andrew,
Where did you order your M4 from, and which one did you order? Did it arrive yet?

BDU = Battle Dress Uniform. It's your camo shirt and pants. Don't cheap out on your goggles, better to buy a nice pair up front then the go through a few crappy pairs first. I might love CADPAT, but if it's ACU/MARPAT/Woodland/3 or 6 Desert you want, it's all US and shouldn't be hard to find.

Dude, ArmyIssue sells pants.

Orange tip? Unless you are buying from out of country you shouldn't need to worry about an orange tip. Altogether you shouldn't need to worry about an orange tip because you shouldn't be buying from out of country and if you are, you won't need to worry about the orange tip because you'll never have to use it..or get to use it...

Orange tips are a US law, not Canadian.

trufret August 4th, 2007 13:30

BDU's are your camo. your probably gonna want a U.S woodland or MARPAT.

I hope you didn't order your gun from the states or it's going to get seized at the boarder.

.Andrew. August 4th, 2007 13:48

I got the m4 from a guy off ebay..hes selling ak's right now..i todl him to find me a top of the line m4 and so he found me one..he orders them from the states but hes got family there so hes able to get the guns across the border somehow..and he lives locally so im paying him when he has it in his hands. I have a pic of it if you guys wanna see it. Im going to take off the orange tip then or just paint it. Ill figure it out im sure. I wanted to go desert camp but i membered you guys dont play in the sand hah.http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/7965/10073t1ug5.jpg

no what?

shit

There are only three sure fire ways of getting guns in country:
http://www.007airsoft.com/
http://aasurplus.ca/disclaimer.html
The classifieds on this site. Anything else is a risk. In your case especially, since you don't know what you're buying, you might get stiffed by a "top of the line" AEG which is crap in reality.

Buy from trusted sources.

Anyway, Andrew. You should make it a point to go over the FAQ and just re-read the parts on importing airsoft. Your seller assuming all the risk is kinda sketchy, but believe you me, you avoid a lot of worry, panic and hassle by just buying from a Canadian retailer or buying used or NIB on the forums here.

I actually find it interesting that you continued on after experiencing the crapsoft from Wal Mart.

.Andrew. August 5th, 2007 10:52

I havent paid for the gun yet, hes ordering it first...hes got two ak-47's right now for sale so he must be able to get them over the border somehow. Alot of people i know have done it.

As for the website,
http://aasurplus.ca/disclaimer.html

Would i be able to order right from this site? Or do i have to have some sort of liecence for this cause it said somethign about training/movies.

.Andrew. August 5th, 2007 10:58

I still have a week before i would go to buy the gun off the guy. im looking on aasurplus right now, what is a good M4 to buy? im lookin at spending up to 300 bucks.

A lot of people get crack and other drugs over the boarder too. It's called smuggling and it's illegal. The only legal way to get airsoft guns over the border is with a Business Firearms License, which is fracking expensive.

Nope, you can order right from the website. Be aware though that if the item is not in stock (best way to find out is to e-mail mark and ask) it can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months to get your gun.

Double that and you'll be able to get yourself a good gun. For 300, you are not going to be able to get a gun, battery, charger, and ammo. It just won't happen.

Here's a good M4:
http://aasurplus.ca/airsoft/product_...products_id=36

Then you have to spend another $30 - $50 on a battery, $30 - $50 on magazines, and $50 - $100 on a good charger. Airsoft isn't cheap buddy. Sorry, but it's just the way it is.

.Andrew. August 5th, 2007 11:05

How far do you think that gun would shoot, /FPS. If i have to ill spend the money, im gettin the goggle and ammo and stuff though off ebay. alot cheaper and basicly the same stuff..what kind of charger/battery would u advise for that gun.

.Andrew. August 5th, 2007 11:10

How many mags should i buy, im buying it all right now so im just wondering. I dont go crazy when im shooting. And stupid question but they are reuseable right? Do you have to put the bb's in the mags 1 by 1 lol.

Coma August 5th, 2007 11:14

Hey Andrew;

Its really not possible to say what velocity that AEG might put out, since all we know is that it is an M4. If you could get a model name from the seller, that would be much easier.

You should definatly try eBay for your camo and such, but do not trust their BBs. It does not cost a lot more to get some from BB Bastard and you know you are getting some of the best in the country. For the sake of your AEG and for the advantages in-game, buy from trusted suppliers.

Finally, don't always assume that these people are right in saying you need to spend $600 as a base price for your first gun. That is a lot to commit if you don't know how you will like your first game. My reccomendation is to try and borrow an AEG from a local Whitby player, try a game and see if you like it. I havn't met a single person who has not liked their first taste. Your first gun does not have to be a TM, or CA, or ICS. Echo 1 or JG make perfect starter AEGs that can perform admiribly and won't break the bank.

I personally reccomend either the Echo 1 G-36C, or the JG AK-47. Those are the only ones I have actually used. The quality of their internals aren't up to the standards of TM, but even if you replace the entire mechbox right off the bat, you have an upgraded AEG for the price of a stock TM.

Ok. Stop now. Go have a look at the following threads:

and
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=253

Second, go out to a game and take a look at other people's equipment first. See how the game is played, and how people set up their gear, etc. That will help you decide and will answer tons of questions you have.

Third, just out of curiosity, how old are you?

.Andrew. August 5th, 2007 11:29

I used to play scenario paintball and everything. Just moving to airsoft so i know ill enjoy it, i just wanted to makesure i was getting the right stuff...im tryin to decide what theme i wanna go for..if its mostly woodland i think im gonna go with the US woodland outfit.

How do you call a "top of the line" gun that is smuggled into Canada, and fits in an overall budget of 300$?

A bucket of fail.

Seriously guy, 300$ is the baseline for a TM clone in Canada, slightly used. You won't have money left for prioritary equipement such as googles, batteries and boots, never mind the rest.

If you only listen to one thing, don't cheap out on eye protection! Even if you are plinking in your basement, at least get a budget paintball mask or airsoft approved pair of goggles.

SuperCkicken August 5th, 2007 12:44

well if u still want a cheaper m4 after reading the faq , read it first before buying something, aasurplus are selling jing jong m4's

http://aasurplus.ca/airsoft/product_...roducts_id=515

i dont know if id advise getting that gun as i have never handeld a jing jong but apparently they are not bad for their price

Opinion

If you like the M4 style rifles why not go for a Systema PTW model, they are the best AEG on the market. Although they are expensive the fact that you can change the fps rating by swapping cylinders means you can configure the gun for CQB or outdoor play. The PTW is all the AEG you need, you won't have to buy multiple guns, although a person has a tendency to do so in this sport.

I wonder why his age seems to be a big secret?

Andrew, many of your questions are already discussed to death in the forums, please take some time to read?
