vest the sas use
does anyone know what type of vest the SAS use?
|
When English people talk about a "vest" it's really just an undershirt. I'd suppose they'd pick their own or use the issue ones.
|
Don't know for SAS but I have two SBS pics and they have ordinary issued waistcoat pi tan paint on...
|
That was in 2001-2002 vince...they prolly roll out in MOLLE crap now.

Military Morons has a SAS impression too, in which the vest is just a black bullet vest like this http://www.vansonleathers.com/images...NOBL_small.jpg http://www.specwargear.com/images/ve...vest-B%201.jpg http://www.specwargear.com/images/ve...vest-A%201.jpg this is the original |
Hehe the old CRW suede vest, I lost a bid a month ago on an original one... but 350$ seemed a bit over the top...

the bottom one is legit.the other one I dunno.

And it doesn't seem like Travis is saying it loud enough....CUSTOM! Ya know, like every guy has one made for himself! The only vest that was ever made in multitude was the CRW vest for close quarters. |
Custom hey?
I will award a Hero Cookie to the first person to build a functioning vest from gun tape & post photos. |
...you have no idea how tempting that actually is!
|
consider them using Paraclete RAV's and assorted pouches...
i think these blokes are embedded with the americans hence the use of US gear. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...iff/iok15u.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...riff/sasi7.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...riff/sasi9.jpg |

I suspect (although not for sure) that these chaps are SFSG, they are reported to be working with SAS & USSF & were given US kit to help them blend in. I think that these guys are actually more likely SAS. I heard that at least in Afghanistan the RAV had been dropped by the SBS as being too bulky although this once again is unconfirmed rumour.
|
I though the SAS held a vote, decided guns were nancy and now just go out on patrol in football tops with a bottle of Newky Brown in each hand?
|
that's only for door kicking stuff, anyway the SAS are far too OMFG5451337 to patrol stuff, if they were ever allowed to patrol the streets of Iraq all terrorism would end, as would crime, littering, swearing, etc, that would put far too many people out of a job so for the good of the economy they keep them on the leash.
Either that or you shouldn't believe every drunk british guy you meet who tells you he's one of 'them' ;) |

Lots more pictures in the same vein here (you gotta sign up but it's a thread worth reading). http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...owtopic=102475 |
Coming from Scotland, if there is such a place I've not found it, mind you I've not been looking hard & don't really want to either.
I assume it's the same stuff but here's where I got mine http://www.konstipation.com/stuff/walt/sas/iraq/ |
This is what they "really" use. cuz they put it in CSS. duh...

I'm no expert on the SAS, but I recall someone saying they use whatever works best for the individual operator.
|
So far as I'm aware most of there kit is either modified or custom made to some extent or another, that's part of what makes me think the second set of pics are infact the SAS. They don't look Amercian in the slightest and the SFSG is meant to be blending with the Yanks, while the second lot of vest are custom jobs.
|
well I dunno if this has been up here before, probably has. But as you can see they seeme to use the same gear as the journos ;)
YouTube - edit: SBS/SAS afganistan PS. This reinforces the statement mad by ThunderCactus above ds. |

That's SBS in Afghanistan, I must admit I'm the a big fan of the 'low drag' look, real men only need claymore bags & 4x 30rnd bandoliers :D
3rd one's SAS in Iraq '03 |
Low drag is the best way to draw attention off yourself ;)

If you have read or have the book Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab
in it there is a pic of him wearing his loadout and the vest he is wearing is a GPMG gunners vest. Edited to add that this is for sale on a UK Airsoft forum. Disclaimer. This does not belong to me nor am I selling it. |
Good ole' Andy McNob. Nice to know he's out there, keeping britain safe from Johnny foreigner, with his extensive knowledge of hi-tech weaponry...
"saw this gun in a catalogue, think it said it was a f-something-or-other- anyway, it looked really cool. Not had a chance to fire it but this bloke down the pub said..." thanks Andy, have a medal. Said first by a very wise man. |
