WGC Transaction Problem

Hello there,

I recently ordered two WE1911 magazines and a bag of BBs from WGC Shop. The total came to $85.65 USD shipping included. I chose to pay bank-to-bank transfer. I completed the transaction and thought everything was good. Then I got an e-mail from them saying that I only paid $65.65. They said that my bank deducted $20 USD as a bank fee. However, I looked at my receipt and I already paid the bank fee.

WGC asked for more money and I told them no. I also e-mailed them a copy of my transaction receipt. I still have not received a reply from them. I can't talk to the people at the bank because they claim they are not responsible if anything goes wrong with the transaction.

I am pretty pissed off now because these two magazines are starting to cost me a lot of f@#$ing money. I would really appreciate some feedback on this issue:banghead:

The receiving bank usually charges the account holder $20 USD for international transfers, at least the banks I've dealt with in Asia anyway. WGC's payment policy says you have to cover all fees involved in the transfer.

So i guess until you pay them they're not gonna ship out your stuff.

Kokanee February 25th, 2008 17:22

pay via paypal, they accept it when I do orders from them.

jamesaddiction February 25th, 2008 17:28

Yeah I bought from redwolf using paypal, but they didn't have my mags in stock. I realize now that paypal is the way to go.

WGC is with HSBC. I am with TD. WGC said that MY bank deducted the money, not theirs. The issue is that I have already paid the handling fee. If there was an additional fee, I am sure the bank would have said something.

Your bank charges you a fee to send the transfer.

The receiving bank charges WGC a fee to receive the transfer into their account.

You have to pay both fees according to WGC payment policy.

You've only paid one.

Wow. No way I will be using wire service again. Considering that it takes 7 days to transfer money from a checking account to paypal, it is definitely worth the wait lol

I only used wire because it was faster.

Buy from eHobby. Those mags would only cost you $25 SHIPPED each.

I find WGC and Redwolf to have much higher prices, and it's kind of a rip off.

ILLusion February 25th, 2008 23:06

You need to talk to your bank again and have them read to you the guidelines on sending international money wires.

Not only is there a bank fee charged to you by YOUR bank, but there is also an ACCEPTANCE fee by the receiving bank. The amount is unknown by your bank, and as a result, the receiving bank assumes that the amount that is sent by your home bank includes their fee.

IT IS *YOUR* RESPONSIBILITY to include the acceptance fee in to the final amount.

jamesaddiction February 25th, 2008 23:27

Yeah eHobby definitely has better deals. No more wire service for me. I hope that other people including newcomers read this thread and don't make the same mistake I did.

arman February 25th, 2008 23:50

No, he's not talking about EMT.

Avoid Bank to bank transfers (AKA TELEX). They are generally only really used in large commercial transaction in the 10's of thousands of dollars. Paypal of CC is the way to go. If there are disputes you can get your money back.

Keep all of your emails. If a retailers promises you a refund in an email but doesnt follow through. that's enough evidence to have a credit card payment reversed by the bank.

Anyone know if i can make a paypal account WITHOUT a credit card? like if i can just wire money into it from my scotia account? im looking at buying some things through wgc and redwolf.

Aren't you underage?

Wait until you're 18, get an adult bank account, then you can link it.

From what i know there is no difference between a "adult" account and mine, I had to get my dad to sign for my account with me?

jamesaddiction February 26th, 2008 08:43

You can use a bank account to transfer money into PayPal. However, you have to wait about a week for PayPal to process the amount you transfered. Its a long wait, but its much better than the pain I just went through with bank-to-bank transfer.

Actually, you can link your paypal directly to your account. My paypal pulls it right out of my chequing account w/ no delay.

I've ordered with WGC and paid via bank to bank transfers many times.

My last order was in the amount of $550.00 U.S, paid via BMO charged a $30.00 process fee. The fee will increase depending on the total amount sent to mainland china.

I've never been dinged with extra charges after the bank wired the funds, nor has WGC ever informed me of "extra" charges on HK's side.

Now one thing that could have arose, my teller whom I've known for years said that funds sent to the wrong Chinese bank can cause extra charges once there. This is due to sending the funds to a incorrect bank within China. The receiving Chinese bank would then charge you extra funds to send it to the correct bank account within mainland china.

When I send money with BMO it arrives at Wacovia Bank China then makes it's way to HK's Bank of commerce in "Kaloon" with no extra charges. This process normaly takes 2-3 days.

Another thing thats is good to know, if your funds are "lost" or if any problems arise with the money wire it will cost you $25.00 to do a trace on your funds, another cost if problems arise with the transfer.....

As far as I know and I do communicate with WGC often, International orders must pay via Bank to bank transfer no exceptions.

I've always been happy with WGC however they will let you sit in the shipping void if problems arise often I need contact them for out of stock issues or back orders.

Hope this helps!

:D

This is how Paypal works now to the best of my understanding ;)

Paypal now links directly to your bank account for Users in Westernized nations. This allows Paypal to directly take funds from your account to pay for purchases.

There are two tiers for paypal users. Verified and non-verified (down from 4 tiers). A verified member has been contacted by paypal and his address/telephone and bank, CC details are confirmed.

If you have a CC and are using Paypal this adds an extra layer of protection as it gives you yet another person you can complain too. If you have a linked CC on your account if your bank is short money they will pull money from your CC.

I prefer to make all purchases via paypal using my CC even if I have a positive balance on my account. Again the reason is because there is an extra layer of protection provided by my CC company.

It would make me very happy if Bank to Bank transfer is possible over Paypal, that would save me $25 - $30 each order.

Anyhow I pulled this directly from the WGC Website.

Quote:

WGC Webpage:

For countries where airsoft is illegal, such as Austrailia, Canada, Philippines, Thailand etc., We only accept money wire as a form of payment. Further, we will not provide any warranty guarantee or money back guarantee for customs confiscation.

Also:

# Bank to Bank Direct Transfer - For International Customers
No Limit / 5% off - Order amount under USD300, Additional charge USD7

So if some of you have paid "Bank to Bank" via Paypal, do I simply withdraw funds from my attached bank account then pay the seller normally, or is there more to this?

jamesaddiction February 26th, 2008 11:01

Here is the situation. Last night, I sent another e-mail to them telling them to take away one magazine from the order to pay the balance.I figure that would be the cheaper way to get out of this mess. Sending more money would involve paying more bank fees.

Kokanee, I didn't realize that you could take money out of a checking account directly with PayPal. I will definitely look into that and change my settings. I don't order stuff often so I wouldn't have known that.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. It means a lot to me:)

Huh, that's weird. I did a WGC order last December and paid by PayPal.

Azathoth February 26th, 2008 12:38

You can using paypal, it's virtually bank to bank. What happens is that paypal acts as the intermediary. Paypal pays WGC, then it pulls money from your account at the same time. I've made purchases with paypal on WGC. They do appreciate you emailing them that you are Canadian and buying accessories which they know are legal.

I've paid with PayPal. It's fine. You just pay them normally with Paypal, either from your CC or bank account. Mine was from my CC.

BrickHouse February 26th, 2008 18:49

Great thats awsome news!

Save me some serious money, placing a order this monday going to try the bank to bank via paypal.

BBS February 26th, 2008 19:29

referring to international payments: come to think of it, the service charge paypal charges are very low already in comparison to bank wire transfer which take at least $30 + the banks retarded currency exchange rate + the long waiting and processtime + me driving out to the bank taking more time and wasting fuel.
