Future uncertain for Flag Raiders

While looking up information on Flag Raiders, I came across this news report about the future of Flag Raiders. I really wanted to play at FR when I become 18, but it looks like that will be very unlikely:(

The Saint April 13th, 2008 22:35

Old news. FR's moving before the end of this year.

TokyoSeven April 13th, 2008 22:36

Like The Saint said. Old news.

lol thread names almost exactly the same too

Double Tapper April 13th, 2008 22:41

Since this thread is started.anyone hear where they are moving to?.

The Saint April 13th, 2008 22:42

Joe's very tight lipped about these things. Hasn't told many of his employees even.

Double Tapper April 13th, 2008 22:45

Hope it is closer to me.lol:D

Armandhammer April 13th, 2008 22:58

Sorry about that, the searches I used didn't come up with any results about this article, but thank you for posting it. I'm just so disappointed...at least there will always be Wasaga. When will they have a designated airsoft field in Canada...

six4 runs Bigfoot games, isnt that a dedicated airsoft field? And XT here in manitoba runs indoor and outdoor fields that are airsoft only.

Double Tapper April 13th, 2008 23:14

Those bigfoot games are in BC,a bit of a drive form Ontario.:D

Armandhammer April 13th, 2008 23:24

Sorry, its just that all the airsoft events posted in ONTARIO are mainly paintball fields that hosts rent out to play airsoft in. You look up airsoft fields in the States however, you will get plenty of results and in some of them, you don't even have to be 18:) FR looked like an amazing field to play airsoft in, but now it is going to shut down and move elsewhere, hopefully closer to me.:D

Im not going into details, but his new location wont be that far from his current one.

DarkAngel April 13th, 2008 23:38

what about old field? that moving too?

You need to get out more... there are at least 5 airsoft dedicated fields in Ontario alone..

Rumpel Felt April 14th, 2008 11:59

Uhgg, this thread reminds me of the dickery going on with....everything around here.

Bitchy soccer mom that caused this yes? Like seriously, who could have a complaint about the place?? There's practically nothing on the road! All there is in the vicinity of the area is a butterfly sactuary and a fucking airport. By the way, wouldn't an airport cause a hell of a lot more blood soaked rags from this bitch than a few guys having some fun a couple nights out of the year?? Someone gonna bitch about that here too??

I believe we were discussing....flaming bag of shit on someones doorstep in the last thread, correct?

This is just what ive heard from other players but its supposed to be closing down too. But those are just rumors.

Brian McIlmoyle April 14th, 2008 12:23

its not rumored

They have been given a shut down order. They have been operating under a by law endorsment for 3 years.. and the counsel simply can't continue to allow it.

The use of the land is outside the official plan for the municipality, so it is illegal for them to continue to operate.

The counsel gave them to 2009 to find a new location and directed the land use commitee to assist them in finding a new location that would fit within the official plan.

If you look around the area.. you can see residential development begining to encroach.. I suspect this land is earmarked for development.

Not much room for suspicion, apparently they're putting in a new bridge between KW and Kossuth.

Rumpel Felt April 14th, 2008 12:56

That's not "apparently" either! They are making that new bridge over the Grand River between Fairway Road and Fountain Street I believe, very, very soon.

Good point about the development too. If that area goes the way of West/Southwest Kitchener, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of condo's or something right on where the field is in under 5 years.

Then the soccer moms would be literally LIVING in what was once our territory....oh the humanity!!!! Would somebody PLEASE think of the gun nuts!!

Well I'm not yet old enough to play in any events, so I can't really get out anywhere. It's just that MOST of the airsoft events posted on this forum are Paintball fields that we use to play airsoft. You siad there are 5 dedicated fields in Ontario, can you please post them with there links? Thanks

Zeonprime April 17th, 2008 18:47

it's not over til the field stops taking our business. Joe reads the ASC, so I won't post to much, but I've told him what I've been able to find out from my sources. oh and before someone goes and asks, "sources?" I won't get into it cause it's where I work. But I'm keeping my ear to the ground on this.

S.H.I.E.L.D. April 17th, 2008 19:23

LZ Woodstock, I don't have a link for it, but I host only airsoft games there. 100 acres of beautiful forested land with scrub brush and variable terrain, then there's Wolfpack's area in Muskoka to name 2 right off the bat.

EDIT: Although I should make a facebook page or something for it

Armandhammer April 18th, 2008 22:14

Thank you Red Comrade

Jayne Finch April 18th, 2008 23:57

both fields are closing but the indoor is staying as far as joe has said. hes looking for a new area but word has it the committee isn't helping much. he wants to keep it in the same area. i dont blame him. good base and who wants to commute? hes not really thrilled about moving all his setup either.
