How TM is your TM gun?

I'm trying to gauge how many people regularly game stock or near stock TM guns. People tend to highly recommend TM guns, and there are a lot out there. But I don't seem to often hear of (near) stock TMs or see them for sale in the buy & sell section, at least when it's a more serious playing selling the gun. It seems that active players that use TM guns tend to do a lot of work to them to upgrade them for gaming.

In terms of internals, the obvious first upgrades are the nylon bushings, the spring and often a bearing spring guide. Depending on what people have for springs and their desired setups (high speed / high velocity), often, high torque or high speed gears are installed, or just regular ratio hardened gears. And people with V2 mechboxed often seem to upgrade to reinforced mechboxes, particularly if going for a high velocity setup.

It seems that most people replace the bodies (mostly on Armalites and AKs) with metal bodies. They add wood kits on AKs too. With the metal Armalite bodies usually comes a 1-piece metal hopup. Then there's the inner barrels that are replaced with tightbores, the hopup sleeve is replaced to handle the higher velocities better. And it seems that replacing stocks, grips and front ends is quite a popular option as well.

So for you TM users out there, particularly the more active / hardcore players, exactly how much TM is left on your TM gun?

Hmmm... the trigger assembly?

Crunchmeister July 4th, 2008 20:28

Yeah, that too. I'm just giving some examples here. I want to hear how many people are rocking stock or near-stock TM guns in the field, and if not, what kind of upgrades have been installed and why.

ancorp July 4th, 2008 20:29

Stock tangs. AND pistol grip screw.

Everything else is changed to metal ( body, one piece barrel )

Ahh.. ok. I misunderstood. I thought you were just adding to my list of parts that get replaced. LOL

FOX_111 July 4th, 2008 20:44

I used a stock TM G36c for 2 years before selling it. It was a good AEG.
My TM P90tr is also flawless.

With the swarm of cheap TM clone, people thend to forget how good TM AEGs are, depending on the model.

Everything Gen3 and up is worth it's price.

you are using a twist barrel with an M120 spring?

anyways, my TM is sold now, I started with TM m4, upgraded to the death, but then it kinda fell apart because I upgraded it too much, so I just parted it out.

I don't realyl reccomend TMs to noobs anymore, the reason being that after some time, it just won't be a TM anymore anyways.

hattrick July 4th, 2008 20:45

I think when people recommend TM guns they are refering strictly to their line of GBB pistols.....

Donster July 4th, 2008 20:46

bone stock TM M14. Except the sight rail and scope if you count that. my MK23 on the other hand. fucking opposite. i upgraded that b4 my M14. Tightbore, springs, and slide/inner barre.

Its not a twist barrel. Just a 6.03 590 Tightbore, pretty sure its TK, never knew the brand, but my friend put a TK in his VN which I now own and the barrels are the same, so just assuming.

Cheesevillage July 4th, 2008 20:56

I've run a stock tm mp5a4 for three years.

Hades July 4th, 2008 21:00

My M14 is mostly stock internals, only upgraded spring & bushings. Everything else is stock tm except for the EBR chassis I have on it.

shifty51 July 4th, 2008 21:06

On my AUG I have everything stock except the following
-bushings
-shims (duh)
-spring
-battery connectors
-added battery bag for large batt
-added optics

else wise pretty stock

TokyoSeven July 4th, 2008 21:08

Ive run a 100% stock M4 for a year before without any issues. No breaks no nothing. Didnt need upgrades, didnt feel the need for upgrades.

I cant really add anything else since the AEG I run now is not TM.

Nova316 July 4th, 2008 21:12

The only stock thing left on my M4 would be one of the mags i use, everything else has been replaced haha i've also built a few M4 from random other parts.

Styrak July 4th, 2008 21:20

I use an AUG. Changes are:

- metal bushings
- bearing spring guide
- Systema M120 spring

everything else is stock. (but my piston just broke so I'll be replacing that :D)

- extended HBAR barrel and not a TM battery, but I don't think those count.

EDIT: Forgot about my MK23. That's stock except for a KM tightbore.

Cassius July 4th, 2008 21:20

What used to be a TM SR16 is now a Troy CQB SPC with only the trigger stock; not the trigger assembly and switch, no. The trigger part itself.

On the other hand, my TM AUG A2 is bone stock and the only thing I intend on putting on it is a FET.

For pistols I rely on TM mostly.

CDN_Stalker July 4th, 2008 21:34

Umm............

TM MP5SD (originally a stock TM MP5A5):

CA cocking tube
Prometheus 120 spring
Guarder bushings
Prometheus bearing spring guide
KA reinforced mechbox
Prometheus 6.03mm 330mm long tightbore
DonP's excellent Trigger Master
Shoots around 395fps.

TM MP5A with PDW folding stock and unknown Navy flashlight grip

Surefire lamp and reflector
Guarder tappet plate
Modify 90 spring
Modify bearing spring guide
DonP's excellent Trigger Master with custom programmed chip, have it set for double tap instead of 3rd burst
Shoots ~330fps

Naglfar July 4th, 2008 21:57

TM MP5-PDW RAS
- Hurricane Full Tune Up Kit
- Battery Sling with Intellect 4200mAh large
Wonderful gun.

TM Hicapa 5.1
- SD Infinity aluminum slide
- Tanio Koba twist barrel
- Firefly bucking (soon)
- First Factory hammer spring housing with lanyard loop (soon)
- Airsoft Surgeon enhanced blowback chamber
- Huang 1911 SERPA modified to fit Hicapa and retention lanyard

I'm thinking of changing to either a 6 inch frame plus comp and a PDI 6.01 6" or a strike kit comp with a PDI 6.01 6". But that of course would require a new outer barrel assembly.

Daiviet July 4th, 2008 22:09

P90 tr, fully stock.

amano999 July 4th, 2008 22:15

All my Tm pistols are stock and never any problems with em.

My Aeg's I upgraded them, but that was only cause I wanted more range/power for outdoor games.

Andres July 5th, 2008 16:26

Stock Marui M1A1.

It's been to maybe 7 games and now has a broken receiver-barrel piece. And the accuracy has gone to shit, I digress, still a stock marui.

100%!

deep in the bush July 5th, 2008 16:33

TM G36C

The body (shell) and trigger. thats it. Rest is upgraded over the years. Yup thats it I think.

MP5K - bone stock (BTW this is now entering its 11th year as stock)

Canadian Psycho July 5th, 2008 16:34

TM M4A1, remained bone stock for the year i gamed it, never had any problems with it whatsoever.

second i got a TM G36C, which up till about halfway through last year was bone stock, then upgraded the spring, gears, piston head and put a G36K kit on the front end.

my new M4, which started once as a TM is now fully upgraded so the only origional part is the stock.

ThunderCactus July 5th, 2008 19:36

Only thing TM left in my G3 after the HK11 conversion is the trigger, wiring, stock, hopup chamber, motor and one or two pins lol

Bob the Angry Potato July 5th, 2008 19:40

Well, I've got a TM FAMAS that's stock sans carry handle. Amazing piece.
The M4... there's the barrel and the pistol grip, that's all that's stock.

My Hicapa 4.3's bone stock save a changed safety and front sight (cosmetic only) and a rubber grip sleeve, it's the best pistol I've ever used.

MADDOG July 5th, 2008 20:49

TM M4

All stock except for bushings and spring upgrade to 400FPS, everything else is stock and it works great. (8 years old)

MD

GundamGPO3 July 5th, 2008 23:48

I game with a Stock TM G36C, and my SiG 552 is nearly stock, with only the hop-up rubber changed, and a 9.6V that i got to fit inside the stock.

seabass July 6th, 2008 06:19

until sunday I used a stock m16a2 for like 3 years, 1 of which it was my loaner gun. TM make great guns. My hi capa is stock and it was my primary every sunday for 6 months of the winter (CQB) My Mk23 was stock aswell for about 3 years, performed flawlessly. I started upgrading only because I got a stock AK that was broken, I figured as long as im on there I may as well replace a few things.... then everything

kalnaren July 9th, 2008 08:15
