How Cadpat is made!

This is pretty cool!

Annabel Canada is the manufacturer of the Cadpat material, and they do a few others as well. I just thought it was pretty nifty to see how the material itself is created. I hope you all enjoy it.

Soon to be seen at an airsoft field near you, Urban and Arctic Cadpat.

Huron August 18th, 2008 00:20

Urban and Arctic CADPAT should be issued by the time I enlist :D
Score.

cool, i always thought they just dumbed relish in the old olive drab

MadMorbius August 19th, 2008 21:54

I don't really see a need for urban or arctic cadpat. Cadpat was developped to replace the old OD's with something more effective. The arctic is white. The current winter white oversuit works great, so I dont know why you'd bother spending the money on a fancier digital white.

Unless they've added significant improvements that make the current winter whites obsolete, why bother?

As for urban...whatever. No point.

You forget the most important part of airsoft. Looking badass, and spending obscene amounts of money to achieve that aim. Arctic and Urban cadpat fill the excessive splurge need perfectly

umm... u got me off guard, This is how they make CADPAT for military and your talking about airsoft? No offense but airsoft revenue for CADPAT is extremely small compare to hunting

Advances in Infrared sensors make modern Arctic gear even more important, I would assume that new arctic gear would include more than purely visual face lift.

MadMorbius August 20th, 2008 12:27

Shit, you got me there. I forgot about FLIR. Guess I'm dating myself...

Ok, agreed, if the newer materials are IR reflective, I could see the value. I think you have to face the reality however that masking temperature signatures in an otherwise sub-zero climate would be next to impossible. I suppose any little bit helps, tho.

Polar bears do an amazing job of it, so it's not impossible. I don't know if a simple IR coating would be able to match polar bear fur's insulating properties, though.

Also, I read somewhere the new whites would be reversible: one side completely white, the other one digital shades of grey, which would help in a rocky arctic environment.

warbird August 20th, 2008 13:59

That would be cool. Would the seems show? I guess it would be more versatile.
