Found this today... :(

I ordered a red dot scope from Evike and I got a no go for it. They are blacklisted from Canadian customs now he told me. He did not even want to sell it to me.

Gave me this link in the PayPal refund message:

http://www.airsoftsociety.com/forums...nk-again-1627/

What is going on? Can't we order stuff like that anymore in US?

SDS_ShooterMcGavin September 3rd, 2008 22:54

Why does the name Peter Kang sound so familiar?

SDS_ShooterMcGavin September 3rd, 2008 23:17

Ktown Militia September 3rd, 2008 23:18

man i love your mongoose quote. that guy was such a chode.

SDS_ShooterMcGavin September 3rd, 2008 23:20

Who was such a chode?

surebet September 3rd, 2008 23:26

RDS, blacklisted? More like Evike being complete fucktards as usual...

Drache September 3rd, 2008 23:27

Im thinking that Evike themselves might be blacklisted. I do know that anything coming from Ebaybanned now is checked....

Ktown Militia September 3rd, 2008 23:29

yah, thats shitty when you cant even get an RDS into canada. I bought one from Cali back in april, and had no problems.

+1

I think Evike is just not shipping to Canada now.

There's no reason for any accessory not being allowed in.

As for stuff getting checked, it seems to go on and off. For a while, all my packages were being checked, then over the summer nothing got checked. Could be that Evike etc was sending guns so now CBSA is scrutinizing more.

T_A_N_K September 3rd, 2008 23:41

I don't see why a red dot would be blacklisted unless if it contained tritium and I don't think RDS have those.

surebet September 3rd, 2008 23:48

Some higher end items might be on the ITAR list, but that would be an export issue, not an import.

My vote still stand for "complete fucktards".

Shirley September 3rd, 2008 23:55

That's pretty fucked, what RDS were you ordering anyways?

jesster202 September 4th, 2008 00:02

We have no problem with importing, but the Americans have a problem with exports. Without the proper permits and to satisfy ITAR regulations, many American retailers and manufacturers have just said "Fuck it" to exports. The U.S. State Dept. is really coming down hard on exports. Within a few months, you likely won't even be able to get a new AR into Canada via the retail network. Accessories, especially optics, NV, or anything the U.S. thinks gives them a technological or tactical edge, forget it.

It's funny, we're a willing market in arms and supplies, and for once, the Americans won't sell to us.

Theirs to busy selling it to places in the middle east.

mcguyver September 4th, 2008 00:31

If you lived in Dubai, Kuwait or any American Friendly countires in 3rd World regions, it's all the guns you want.

Drake September 4th, 2008 00:46

I could see a real EOTech or something being ITAR export controlled (and maybe it is, dunno?)... but Evike doesn't have anything that good.

mcguyver September 4th, 2008 00:50

It's more likely that with Canadian sales equal to maybe 1/10 of 1% for many companies, it's better to just not do it than deal with any hassles from our Customs or theirs. Internal policy has the same effect for us as legislation, we have to find other routes or do without.

That's why anything I've bought I carried with me on the plane.

Oh shit, I think I'm fucked now.

What will happen when I go to the land of easy guns (aka Arizona) this fall?

Rob September 4th, 2008 01:09

i recently tried to buy a Dawson fiber optic front sight from a us retailer. Its a piece of metal with brightly coloured plastic string, but it was still a no-go for export.

its a shame, since there are alot of decent, well priced optics in the us, but foreigners can't touch them. I blame Iraq!

SHÖCK September 4th, 2008 04:10

This is nothing new of American treatment of Canadian customers. We simply are not a big enough market to warrant the extra work it takes them and simply say f-u Canada even if for no real reason other than laziness.

Once I bought a Hot Wheels car on ebay. The lady refused to sell it to me saying: "I don't want to fill out a form" when the form amounted to writing: "toy car - value $1.50" on a sticker

Back on topic, many retailers simply won't ship items they are unsure about to protect their asses (even if it is also laziness). There's a lot I can't order from Outdoorsportsman.com

It's allready happening. I just got a new M-4 varient and had to get it from the UK. The US said no export permit on the version I wanted.

Drake September 5th, 2008 12:01

The US is just pissed at us cuz we tricked 'em into taking Celine Dion.

If they really wont ship it over the border, get yourself a mailbox near the border for like $10/month or something like that and have it shipped there. Then drive down, pick it up and bring it back yourself... kind of a hassle for cheap parts but if its something a bit more expensive or hard to find, it may be worth it.
