Hi-Capa Pistol Slide Importation

I read on the forums that Pistol Slides are not illegal to import from Crunchmeister. Only that the Lower frame is illegal.

Now my Hi-capa 5.1 slide (With the internals) has been seized and is pending Appeal or Sending it back.

As I assume my Customs Agent did not know the difference between receivers since he said the Pistol Slide had a Lower Receiver attached to it. Even though I did not get the lower frame of the Pistol, only the slide and its internals (Hop up unit, outer barrel)

I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this process and what they wrote for their Appeal. Thanks a bunch.

That sucks man, shouldn't have been seized. You didn't get the middle metal frame right?

Crunchmeister October 27th, 2008 15:05

Ohh.... if the metal middle frame came with it, then yes, it's grounds for seizure. Can you link us to the item you ordered? Then we can tell you for sure if it was an appropriate seizure or not.

jesster202 October 27th, 2008 15:10

yes if they sent you the middle reciver part then your out of luck and might have to take it up with whime you orderd it though. you might also want to ask them for a refund if they are allwoing you to send it back.

I would read the exact article they quoted in the seizure notice and ensure the item does not meet the description listed therein.

Then, write & mail (or fax) a letter explaining exactly why it does not meet the description in the tariff they state.

Wait 3-4 months while the item is sent to the Firearms Official for the CBSA.

Hopefully, you will have your slide returned to you. If you don't, they will at least tell you why.

Either way, let us know. :D

cbcsteve October 27th, 2008 15:39

Its a Plastic Slide with all the internals (Hop-up, barrel, outer barrel)

As for middle metal receiver part, do you mean like the having the whole barrel, hop-upunit and spring and all inside the slide?

Crunchmeister October 27th, 2008 15:45

Again, post a link to the exact item you ordered from the exact retailer if possibe (preferably with a pic) and we can maybe answer the question better.

Hi Capas are a bit different from other pistols, where there is a slide, a middle frame, and lower frame / grip. If what you ordered included the slide and middle frame, then it was grounds for seizure.

cbcsteve October 27th, 2008 15:48

Ahh do you mean this: Cause I did not order this

Cause I was ordering this (not from evike)

Middle Frame:

Lower Frame:

Assuming whoever you ordered it from didn't mess up and send you a frame by accident, there's no reason why it shouldn't get through.

Crunchmeister October 27th, 2008 15:50

Yup. The middle frame is included. That was rightfully seized. That's basically all the business components of the gun right there without the grip

cbcsteve October 27th, 2008 15:54

Ahh so you mean that Silver thing in the Slide is prohibited

I did not get the middle metal frame

All I wanted was a replacement slide, and they probably accidentally sent me the whole internal kit

Crunchmeister October 27th, 2008 15:58

If this is what you ordered, then you didn't order just the slide. That's a slide and middle frame set. If you could link us to the actual item you ordered - not a picture of it - but of the actual item on the actual site you ordered it from, it would be a lot more helpful.

Unfortunately there is no site, I got it from my friend in Japan, I asked my friend to send me upper slide of the TM Hicapa since I already pretty much have one and the lower frame and middle frame is fine

No, he said he just ordered a complete slide, and the picture shows that. Shouldn't have been seized.

cbc: Complete slides with all the internals are fine.

Oh phew thanks

Crunchmeister October 27th, 2008 17:12

OK, I may have misunderstood the post. If it's just the slide and its internals, then you should have been fine, as I said in my PMs. The only slides that could get legally seized are compact ones like the G26 and USP compact, for which the real guns are prohibited in Canada.

arman October 27th, 2008 18:03

cbc...how much diod that cost...im looking to get the same thing... hope it works out for you!!

I've had this same problem several times with the Ontario CBSA agents.

If you live in an area where your importations come through the Mississauga / Lester B. Pearson CBSA port of entry, forget about trying to strip guns to bring through unless you're willing to deal with the 3-6 month appeal process (or more) plus having to deal with your goods arriving at your doorstep (assuming you win your appeal) missing screws, springs, pins, little levers and having all the components scratched up from poor handling (while getting NO restitution from the exporter, the carrier OR customs.) It's a bad gamble and generally a lose-lose situation. I have several paperweights here thanks to those guys (and gals.)

There are several officers there that I've spoken to that are very willing to seize anything that resembles a gun/pistol/rifle and have no clue what is "technically" considered the registered component or receiver of a firearm. They get their information from an officer who claims she is a "knowledgeable and skilled officer in recognition of firearms and their components."

Funny, I think I've heard of the antics of this expert before.

jesster202 October 27th, 2008 21:48

808 October 27th, 2008 21:48

Yikes.

I never thought I'd be glad to live in Winnipeg...

cbcsteve October 27th, 2008 22:04

Yeah must be the whole handgun scare with the current gang warfare going down in Toronto area

On a sidenote be wary of your surrondings everyone in the core GTA Gang warfare is going on and they suck at shooting always killing the bystander instead of the target
