Discharger
Hey,
I narrowed down my search to two dischargers: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/bol-discharger-mk2.html and http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/guarder-b...ischarger.html Which one do you guys suggest as I can't choose between them. Is there a reason why I should choose one and not the other? PS: My battery is a nunchuck style Sanyo NiCD 9.6v 1700Mah and I am gonna buy an Intellect 8.4 NiMH 1400Mah battery but the NiMH I don't need to discharge so it must be good for the first battery. http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/bb-batter...700mah-m4.html Thanks in advance, Sindagon |
just get a TM discharger
/thread |

Get a cheapo computer case fan. Connect that to your battery. It will discharge it.
|
how do i connect the case fan to the bat? i have a case fan available.
|
look intensely at the fan's cable and its plug.
compare both plugs and see how they don't fit into each other. if you concentrate hard enough you will know what to do. it involves using a blade and sometimes a soldering iron. |
You can just strip the ends of the fan wires and stick them in your battery connector. Just make sure you don't short them out.
|
wait. he has NIMH batteries. i just found out that you are not supposed to discharge them or else it ruins them. i just discharged my NIMH battery and after i did, i read the post about that. i threw it out.

Discharge Ni-Mah = BAD. It will KILL the battery.
You don't really even need to discharge Ni-Cad batteries all that much either. Especially if the battery is made of newer, high-grade cells, Ni-Cad memory effect is minimal. It's not like batteries of old when you would half discharge, charge it, and be fuxxored. Do yourself a favour, spend the money on a really good charger instead. |

I discharge my batts with a TLP and never got any problem. but as you say that's a good charger. http://www.tankzone.co.uk/images/acc...XPRO%20IIa.jpg |

hey,
thanks for the computer fan suggestion. I stripped its wires and it worked perfectly as an overnight discharger. I won't be needing a discharger i guess. |
Actually, there is a switch behind/under TLPs to set discharge voltage to 0.9v/cell or true 0v/cell.
And that is where the trick is. |
A really nice charger/discharger that I'v been using for the past season is the Team Checkpoint TC 1030. It's a pro charger/discharger and cycler with a motor break-in. It does Ni-cad,NiMh and Lipo/Ion. You have compete control of all parameters on the unit and shows you all the info when charging or discharging. It's the same charger as the Duratrax "ICE" The motor break-in is nice when you clean up the motor and want to re-seat the brushes!
