DBOYS VS JG v2

whats better v2 gearbox wise?

the gearbox that the DBOYS has in its SCARS?

OR

The V2 that the JG hk416 has?

please reply only if you have read up and have seen the internals of both.

Even though I have not seen both I would still like to contribute.
The mechbox that I recieved in the 416 was fairly decent, alot more than I expected.
The internals were fair but it still required a good clean down reshimming and regreasing, as well as replacement of its nylon bushings. For more info on the mechbox dig my old JG 416 review. Its been noted that even though all 416s have the same internals, newer JG models have been comming out with metal bushings and mechbox shell brands have been noted to vary from gun to gun.

I bought a JG V2 complete mechbox...the piston was split in two before I even had a chance to fire it once. That said once it was replaced with a TM stock piston it worked fine. You may have to change a few things..like the anti reversal latch as the JG version allows some (albeit fine) shifting when you release the trigger. It seems to be working just fine with a new piston and spring, and seems quite sturdy. It's a pretty good "cheaper" alternative to some of the more expensive ones on the market like G&P etc. That said I would rather have a G&P or Systema complete mechbox drop in replacement though.

BORDENSNIPER February 12th, 2009 17:23

reason Im asking is that the Dboys SCAR one looks reinforced just like a G&P,

the JG is also said to be reinforced but I cannot see the extra meat that the Dboys has in the rear.

Reinforcement in the rear doesn't really matter. It's the front where every V2 fails.

i got the new systema clone jg black gear boxes (also know as the 416 mechbox) came to me el messed and needed to be sent out to be fixed. but it runs great now.

Shirley February 12th, 2009 18:23

I've owned the older JG box once with plastic bushings and ran it in my SPR. It was shooting 390fps with an AK inner barrel. It ran like a beauty.

I'm not sure how these new ones are now, with the mosfet and such. I'm pretty much interested in getting one again.

jesster202 February 12th, 2009 18:46

snice when did they start putting mosfets in them?

Styrak February 12th, 2009 19:00

Since the new versions came out. :p

jesster202 February 12th, 2009 19:03

Yeah JG mechbox and motor sets could be purchased alone for a while now. I think huang might have them, or I can get them for you.

jesster202 February 12th, 2009 19:10

can you quickly explain what their standalone fets will do dosnt it make it better when rining on lipo? like it drops the voltage down?

Styrak February 12th, 2009 19:13

Don't know, I'll leave that to someone else.

My understanding is that it bypasses a lot of voltage from the switch mechanism and puts it through the FET. There's only a small signal wire from the switch to the FET, which saves your contacts and switch from being damaged/melting/etc when running powerful batteries.

jesster202 February 12th, 2009 19:21

lol exzactly why i was told to run fets while running lipo if i plan to do bursts i was looking at the thread on asc http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=75828 this one, and his has a third wire hanging from the motor area is it busted or something and need to be opend to wire it to the trigger switch?

Shirley February 12th, 2009 19:24

The new JG boxes have ball bearing bushings, reinforced, mosfet.
Huang has them.
They aren't really "SYSTEMA" clones, they juts have it on the box that says SYSTEM lol.

Shadows.

jesster202 February 12th, 2009 19:46

no the 416 ones are systema clones i now know their is a huge diffrence on the new fets one any news on what they shoot or is it stock jg around 400 and they come with metal spring guides correct?

Grumpy March 4th, 2009 19:45

I was looking at a new JG Mechbox for my stock TM SR-16 Knights baby. It's a Complete Version 2 mechbox /w high power motor set (Rear Wired) and it's Jing Gong's new Black 2008+ version so I don't know if it has the MOSFET's or not. What is the general consensus on upgrading to this mechbox/motor combo?

Styrak March 4th, 2009 20:03

Go for it. JG is a good brand.

Grumpy March 5th, 2009 11:43

Thanks for the "go for it" advice Styrak, but I have heard of issues with the JG mechboxes and the fact that they are not as stable as the TM mechboxes. I just wanna get more FPS out of my TM SR-16 and the drop in seems to be the "easiest" solution but I don't want to add any problems to the perfectly functioning gun...just want some more FPS (currently 280 FPS from the stock TM mechbox)

Shirley March 5th, 2009 13:05

Hearing issues is one thing, but trying it out and having it in your hands is another.
There's basicaly 3 models of it.
1 - Black reinforced gearbox with plastic bushings
2 - Black reinforced gearbox with metal bearing bushings
3 - Black reinforced gearbox with metal bering bushings + mosfet

Number 3 is the newest one. But if you feel that it's problematic with you, buy a new Systema complete gearbox which run for US $579.

lol maybe I'm just lucky that i never ran into these breaking piston problems and v2's cracking..

I have a Dboys gearbox running in my AR right now, and it's pulling 387FPS with a lipo using Element 300% Torque up.
And I've fired thousands of rounds, and short bursts on the lipo. Even holding it down for 4-5 seconds. Nothing has broke yet. Hmm China stuff aren't that bad nowadays.. lol

Crunchmeister March 5th, 2009 13:20

I like the JG drop-in mechbox, but beware. Even being reinforced, it won't last with that M130 spring. Downgrade to something more realistic like M100-110 instead, and preferably, install a sorbo pad. I had my mechbox in my JG 416 crack at the nozzle from the stock spring.
