Ideas for a first gun
Now I'm not AV as the time of writing this but my birthday is tomorrow so it will happen soon. I found a place in Winnipeg that has some airsoft guns that I am thinking of buying.
They are a Aftermath Kraken AK 47 that stated that it fires 300 FPS with .12 g BB's and a Tactical Force TF7. I do not know the FPS for the TF7. I was wondering what I should buy first. Thanks for any help, Smasher 225 |
kraken

Thanks any particular reason.
|
Umm well I have the Tactical Force MP7 and it is a very very basic gun, I would recommend it to no one actually. The aftermath AK on the other hand, I have heard alot of good things about using that gun as a starter. Hope that helps.....
Why does someone always beat me |
normal krakens shoots 370 w/ .20
|
Thanks I'm just writing what I read. If you want the link I can give it to you.
|
oh and the MP7 shoots around 250-280fps I think/believe.... I could be off though on that
|
Thanks for all the help.

Hope that helps the hunt for your first gun

My personal opinion. A Kraken. but don't buy from the retailer. your prety much going to be playing the lottery. some work, some blow after 100 bb's, some need repairs out of the box.
so if you going to buy a kraken get it from somone here on the board. The ressons for a kraken for a first timer is its a good starter build (360ish fps out of the box). plus you can upgrade it/ alot of after market parts. so after about $1000 you could have 3-5 different layouts of the gun itself. happy hunting |
I think that I will get the Kraken. I think it might be the version that shoots 300 FPS because It only costs $120 a lot lower than other sites. Although my friends have worked through this store before and it has be a great place for hunting equipment in Winnipeg. I will be getting a gun off this website eventually, however, I want to get a cheap on from a store so I know that I'm interested in airsofting. If I do really like airsofting then I might be getting a P90 or a M14.
Thanks everyone for all your help, Smasher 225 |

This is only so I can make the decision whether or not to really get involved with airsoft. I will probably upgrade the gun and it was originally $160 but they had a price drop. I still appreciate your input

It might turn out like that. I hope it does so I can get a P90 (favorite gun)

It depend what u focus on, Outdoor game? indoor game? both? All I know my brother has Aftermath Kraken but he can't bring it to Xtreme tactics because it is too fast.
But FPS isn't most important thing in game. meanwhile, Kraken is great gun for outdoor. For CQB, Look smaller guns. I see most people prefer submachine guns for CQB over assault rifle due to size advantage for CQB. |

a stock kraken is to high for defcon to . |
I just got conformation that the AK version that I will probably buy is the 300 FPS version. I know that FPS isn't everything but either way I'm just using this to find out how much I want to airsoft.
|
yeah it is simple to downgrade for XT, but why bother do this when Mp7 is ready to go for cheaper price. I meet abut 5 different people who use Mp7 for CQB.
|
300 fps stock isn't to bad. is it tm part's compadable?
|
I have know idea. the site is https://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pag...2=1387&ID=3475 so you might know better than me. If I would guess I would say it is.
|
looks like noobsak that didn't work lol.(noob is a freind of mine) but yeah it should take most tm parts.
|
Renting your first time might give you a better indication of if you want to go through with airsoft or not. Reason being that yes Kraken is a great starter gun but you should take a look at what's out there first.
Kinda like buying a car. You should shop around and look at the different cars available to you, do a test drive in some of them that you're interested in. |
sweet all i really care about is the mags and maybe a tight bore barrel and maybe a better gear box.
true true L473ncy. I have tried my cousin's airsoft gun and I do like it so I think that I should own a gun but I just haven't been part of a game yet. |
Remember that the beauty of the Kraken and what it's good reputation is based on is not its initial quality as a starter gun. It's the fact that it's a cheap upgrade platform to a better gun. It has a lot of very useable parts that on their own would cost almost as much as the Kraken itself to buy separately. And it allows you to upgrade it one piece at a time until without breaking the bank. Then in the end, you can have yourself a nicely upgraded and reliable metal and wood AK that shoots every bit as well or better than a stock plastic TM at about the same price. That's what's so good with a Kraken.
I don't think that as a starter gun it's a very good gun. It's good for a tweaker who has another gun and wants as a cheap project gun or loaner. With some basic cleaning, shimming and regreasing, it can be a good gun, but stock it's hit or miss. And this basic preventative maintenance is out of most noobs' capabilities. And even moreso when it breaks and they don't know what to do to fix it. Once you're 18 and age verified, you'll see that for not a whole lot more money than a Kraken, you get get something that's a much better starter gun. And if a Kraken is really what you're after, you'll even find lightly used Krakens that have had the initial maintenance performed on them. You're much better off going that route than with the Kraken you're looking at... |
I'm just looking for a have decent gun to go out to my cousin's cabin and shoot each other with. They all have around the same quality as the Kraken and with the it being the 30 FPS version I'm not looking for it to do much more that shoot. I hear what you are saying with it being more like a tune up gun than a starter gun but if I start diving in with the guns that you need to be AV for my cousin and his friends might start to hate me. This would be my first AEG but not my first airsoft gun. I received a cheap spring M4 from my mother last year to take out to the cabin. Yes I will probably get verified after I play a bit with an AEG and have some games under my belt.(Renting the places airsoft guns) But I feel the process of getting AV and buying a gun off here before I have actually played a game of airsoft is not worth the effort if I decide that I do not like airsoft in the future. I will take in to consideration what you have said and I thank you for your imput.

Well in that case, the gun should work out ok. And keep in mind that if it does break, it's reparable and there are parts available. Although if you don't have ready access to someone who can fix them, you'll have to learn to do it yourself. Not like that's a very bad thing...
|
which I will want to learn how to do anyway. Thanks again.

Before you buy, the tf7's not a bad gun.
Seems to have around 280-300 fps, foregrip and stock are excellent. It has a good rof for its size, about 12 rps (720 rpm). But, it is your choice, I have heard a lot of good things about the kraken |
Don't forget this.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY. It will save you alot of money, and what you're really comfortable with. |
