My Brand Bew Gun Is Acting Strange
 

I just got a g&p m4a1, I paid 295 dollars for the gun from evike.com. Charged the batteries for 2 hours and put them in my gun. When I did, it was very hard to put in at first, but when i shot it without hand guard it was fine. When i put hand guard on it didn't fire. I got a relative to help me, he looked at the wires and said they looked fine. He tested each one though, and said that whenever he bends the wires on the battery and gun connectors, it doesn't fire. Whenever the wires bend it creates a problem. I just got the gun today, and I don't know why it did this. I saw 3 sparks go through the connectors when he tested without hand guard on. He basically bent each wire to see, then dry fired with each exact wire. It is hard to figure out what is wrong with it due to the wires looking just fine.Please help.

switch your connectors out for deans connectors

looks like there is a bad connection on your connector, your best bet would be converting to deans connectors 100% contact assured!;)

Deans connectors FTW. Although for airsoft applications large molex connectors should be good enough (even with voltage drops, it should be able to adequately cool itself but that's just me saying I don't have too much experience with electronics).

Don't return the gun to evike, chances are they're going to screw with you and dick you around. Read some of the online reviews on evike. I'd go to a US airsoft forum and ask around for a local gundoc, they will work wonders on your gun.

Maybe you should splice the wire and resolder? But if you're going to do that might as well install some deans connectors while you're at it. You can probably get deans from your local hobby/electronics store. Hobby stores should have them if they specialize in RC toys.

As a side note, what are the relative advantages of converting to deans? I mean, other than the 100% contact, are there any other advantages/disadvantages?

Physically smaller connectors, ie fit in smaller places. Also less resistance so it may increase ROF slightly.

they are actually a little bit larger than a small tamiya connector, but they offer less resistance and firm connection.

There's no down side to deans connectors. They're smaller, and offer a more positive connection with no voltage drop.

The only downside is they are not the standard. IMHO every battery and charger sold/used for airsoft should have deans on them already, we shouldn't have to swap them out or order them extra.

And that is the only reason I don't have all my stuff switched over to deans. Keep meaning to do it. I hate it when i have to open the gun and giggle the connectors for a better connection(though that is rare it's better never to need to do it)

Most of my guns are switched to deans now. I think I have 1 or 2 AEGs left to switch, but they'll be getting new battery stocks so waiting till I get the parts to finish them off.

Hmm, that sounds like a very good investment, to be honest. Unfortunately, I sold my aeg, and I won't have the funds to buy my next until the summer, but I think I'll throw in the extra few bucks to switch it over to deans. These connectors, I assume, would fit with pretty much any aeg, correct?

well if you mean will fit in the compartments then yes. But you need a solder to instal em.

The Tamiya connector is typically rated for 9A continuous current flow. The larger Molex connector is rated for 15A of current flow.

The Deans Ultra plug is rated for around 40A of continuous current transmission. It features gold plated flat contacts which make firm large area contact between connections.
