upgraded echo1 m733 will not fire
 

i upgraded the spring to M150, full teeth aluminum piston, amp 5000 motor, and a 10.8v battery, put the gun back together and does not fire. when you pull the trigger the wires get hot because nothing turns. i blew the 15amp fuse and put in a 20amp. their is a faint clicking noise when the trigger is pulled. the motor does turn because i have tested it without fully in the gun.i have opened up the gearbox many times and all three gears i think are lined up correctly with the bushings on the outside. if you hve any solutions they would be appriciated.

Try taking the spring and piston out, closing up the gearbox, and trying to turn the gears by hand. You may have shimmed the gears correctly to eachother, but too much overall. If they are overshimmed, they won't spin.

Agreed. Sounds like a bad shim job, or possibly internal components binding. Make sure everything moves freely.

Either your shimming is wrong like above posters or your motor height is set wrong.
Check your shimming first, since thats usually the case when gearboxes bind up

Also, I'm not sure stock JG gears will take a 10.8v battery. If all you've changed in there is the piston and motor, I'd be expecting a bunch of other stuff to fail as well.

Especially consider M733 = more likely to be used on full auto rather than semi. And full auto is where you get problems, esp. with a 10.8V battery.

the gears didn have any shims when i checked so when i put it back together i didnt put any in. ive lso herd alot about adjusting the motor but i dont know where to adjust it. it doesent even fire so i cant even use it on auto yet. its like jammed up.

On the base of the grip, there should be a screw in the middle. If you tighten this, it puts the motor farther into the gearbox. If you loosen it, it brings the motor farther out of the gearbox. This sounds like the motor could be over-tightened, ie, sitting too far into the gearbox. Try loosening the screw a half turn at a time.

This isn't meant to be a slight, but if you don't know anything about mechboxes, you definetly should not be modding them for higher speed and high FPS. A stable high speed setup is difficult and costly to do. And higher FPS.. I really hope your gun has metal bushings as well. I know some JG ones come with nylon bushings.

My advice at this point is to take it to a gun doctor and get them to take a look at it.

You adjust the motor using the screw/set screw on the bottom of the grip. Loosen it up a bit.

alright ill try that now. i do have knowledge about mechbox. ive been using the same gun for 2 years and thought it was time for tune up and one thing led to another and ended up spending $250.

after testing. i loosened the screw and the motor wasnt hitting anything. so i kept tightning gradualy then when it up far enogh i cant hear the motor anymore and it doesent move anything.

Is there a click at all?

If it's not the motor, then it sounds like the gearbox is locked up. Only way to fix that is to take it all apart again.

You need a reinforced gearbox to run that sp150.. or you'll break that shell.. Metal bushings and high torque gears.
Check your gears that they do line up properly.

I'd second what Mr Hitman said. Your mechbox will die a rather rapid death with that spring. Standard V2 shells can't take that kind of abuse. That's even tough for reinforced shells. I'm not sure high torque gears are required, but they would help decrease trigger lag significantly.

theirs a click but its really quiet. if the gearbox is locked up and i take it apart again wha do i fix becuse this would be the sixth time taking it apart.

Properly upgrade the mechbox for high speed and high FPS. That will most likely include a torque-up gear set, new piston head, and maybe a cylinder head.

so your saying its locked up because of stock gears

I'm saying it's locked up because you didn't modify the gun to be able to take that kind of a spring. A high power setup needs more done to it than just a bigger spring and motor.

try with your stock spring... if it work than too strong spring is your problem... oh and check the polarity of the motor because if it's wired backward it would explain all the previous symptoms!
