My Primaries
I've had an assload of guns for some time now, and have posted some pics of various ones in this section and in reviews, but most were all very much works in progress and never did I have all my main AEGs working at the same time. Well now they are. It's taken a long time to get them to the point.
For having been into airsoft for less than 2 years now, I think I've managed to do quite well and I'm pretty proud of my custom(ized) guns. So tonight I was bored and decided I would share a pic and the details of each of my favourite AEGs with you. Forgive the quality of the pic. My crappy camera doesn't take very good pictures indoors. But it's pretty high res, so you can actually zoom in on some of the details. http://www.societyssorrow.com/_crunc.../Primaries.jpg From top to bottom: Real Sword Type 56
C7A2 rifle (CA M15A4 base)
Despite the real C7A2 having OD furniture, I've decided to leave mine black. I think it looks better than OD. And I much prefer the functionality of a good crane stock than the tiny M4-style stock, so I'm more than willing to deal with the 'inaccurate' look. And of course, having the nice powerful battery in the stock kicks serious ass. The final touch will be a mini rail to attach to the bottom of the handguard so I can attach a vertical foregrip. At that point, this will be considered 100% complete. But right now, it's close enough. Custom C8A2 carbine
It's still not 100% complete to my liking. It only needs a heavy outer barrel and thinner handguards (so I can mount the TRIAD in the right orientation). The JG 416 crane stock looks a bit bulky, but I love the feel and love the fact it can fit a custom 9.6V large battery pack with sub-C cells. Like with the C7, function wins out over cosmetics. I'll also be attaching a mini rail / vertical foregrip as on the C7. As it stands, it works great and is more than field-worthy. Once I get the final touches installed, I'll call this one "close enough for the modern C8 look. This is my favourite CQB gun to date. It's been fielded twice to day (Op Fingers at the Mill & Op Broardsword in Picton) and more than surpassed any of my expectations for my first build. Custom MP5
I bought the original JG MP5 with the intention of using it as an upgrade platform. It took me about a year to get to this point and I'm very happy with the results. I've only fielded it once since it got it's new internals, and I was making 100 ft kills with ease. So that's the story behind these guns. |
nice one crunchy, now all you need is some launchers and some pigs.
|
Very nice collection you got there, Chrunch!
|
Thanks. This is only a small part of my collection. As for AEGs, I've also got an Echo 1 P90, A&K M249 Mk II and JG HK416. The 416 isn't working right now unfortunately and is partly disassembled, or I'd have it in this pic too. Altogether counting my GBB, shotgun and non-working guns, I have 18 total.
And I'm planning on adding an M203 to the rail of my 416 once I get it up and running again. |

Well i hope you've been hitting the gym lately cuz running around with a launcher all day long is heavy....on a full metal gun |
where are all the pistols? :(

I don't use the SAW mostly because of its size and not the weight. A launcher on the underside of a carbine is not something I'm too concerned about.

the green C8 looks nice man.
Ever done Accuracy tests indoors? |
The green is regular Krylon camo OD. I like it better than the green used on the real thing, which looks way too bright IMO. I like this shade much, much better.
I haven't done any serious accuracy tests. The longest range I have indoors at my place is about 20 feet, and at that range, there's no real way to bench test the guns. But they're all very consistent in terms of power, and at least from shoulder firing at that range, they're very accurate. But if there's a man-size target within the effective range of any of my guns, I can hit it every time... I'd love to have a nice indoor place that I could do accuracy tests from a bench though... |
Nice...all of them.
Does anyone here know how to apply rubberized texturing to any metal or ABS parts? |
hows the DBOYS metal reciever? any mods on it for fitment ?
|
I love the "Sanity's Sorrow" marking on the MP5 :)

Yup. Society's Sorrow is my band. I have the band stickers on a few of my guns :p

Let me start off with an apology for this novel-length post, but I'm just so happy with how this gun turned out that I wanted to share these results. This past Saturday, I fielded the C8 outdoors for the first time. It's been set up for CQB and shooting 325 with .2, and to date, it had only used it in 2 CQB games. My C7's is my usual outdoor gun, and I did use it part of the day, but the hopup rubber is starting to wear down and it was s giving me trouble with .28 g BBs.
Since all my mags were already loaded with .28 Bastards, I switched over to my C8 that I had brought for backup. Up to that point, the C8 had seen only a bit of short range outdoor action at Op Broardsword in Picton. That was mostly CQB and I was using lighter Velocity Arms .25g BBs. Indoors at CQB range, it was incredibly accurate and effective, but it wasn't very effective at ranges beyond 125 feet as the BBs would either veer off to one side or another or drop to the ground. I was also curious to see how it would handle the heavier ammo, as I had never used anything heavier than .25 in it before. First stop was the chrony, where with .28, it chronied at a consistent 270-275 fps over 5 shots. Despite the low velocity, I was glad to see it had retained its shot consistency with the heavier ammo. Next was to line up the optic. Attached was my new real steel EOTech 552 holosight which I was fielding for the first time. The field has a bunker about 100 feet away from the staging area, and there's a chair on the roof. That's what we normally use to align our sights. Once the sight was adjusted, I was able to consistently tag the back of the chair (about 12" x 15") shot after shot. Already at this point, I was most pleased with its accuracy and performance. The first thing that was noticeable was the trigger response. I recently upgraded from the JG 8.4V battery I was using to a Firefox 9.6V 2200 mAh crane stock battery made from 4/5A cells. This has given the gun an incredibly snappy trigger response and higher rate of fire. The motor is having no issues pulling the light spring with minimal lag and turning it over to the tune of 17 shots per second. The consistency and accuracy were what impressed me most though. While the BBs did travel quite slow, they travelled completely flat. The hop effect would kick in at about 75 ft out causing the BB to rise a bit, but it would continue to fly in a straight path until it was out of sight. I really have no idea how far the BBs were flying because they were out of sight before they dropped. I didn't really have to compensate my aiming for BB drop at all when aiming. And it did this consistently from shot to shot. Past an estimated 150 feet or so, the BBs would veer off either to the left or right, but until that point, their trajectory seemed perfectly straight and flat. And the gun didn't let me down in the game either. I managed to make several 125-150 foot kills with a single 3-5 round burst. Normally with my C7 + 3.4x Elcan, I can easily tag a stationary man-size target at 150 feet out. But I never thought the C8 would be able to be that accurate at range without a magnified optic and firing such heavy BBs. However, there was definitely a down side to the lower velocity. It cost me in the form of penetrating power for foliage. Even though my C7 wasn't working properly, it had little trouble punching through leaves and hitting the target on the other side. The C8 had reasonable penetration power at close range, but didn't fare well at all at longer ranges where the C7 had no issues. So in light of this game, I want to push this gun as close to 350 fps as possible so that I can keep using it for CQB, but also have an even more effective outdoor gun with better range and penetration power. But all in all, my C8 has now officially surpassed my expectations in every way. I knew I had built a nice solid gun that performed well for CQB, but never thought it would perform this well for outdoors. |
well crunch thats what happens when you build a little monster and unleash it in the open...:D, hopefully you keep us posted on the upgrades and how they are working..
