WE 1911, and WE in general
Hey I just ordered a WE 1911, and I know that WE is usually low quality and I wouldn't normally buy a WE gun, the price was right so I picked it up.
I've heard alot of horror stories about WE, and I've had a WE hicapa explode in my hands, but other people have had their WE guns last thousands of shots. So I was wondering if WE owners would like to share some info about their guns, good, bad, or ugly. I want to get a feel for general quality and reliability. Again, I KNOW WE is low end, I just want to see HOW good or bad they really are. Thanks in advance! *edit* Also, will a KJW double stack (I don't mean the KJW hicapa, I mean the KJW 1911) mag work in the single stack WE 1911? |
i have nothing but praise for the we meu that i had ( i sold it to a friend and its still going strong almost a year later) they have stepped up there game lately and i would say from personal preference i think they are more reliable than KJW

Most of the WE are missed or hit. It`s mostly for person who on budget and looking for full metal gun.
WE 1911 is really suck, I broke mine like 5 mags pass through it. The common parts that break is bushing and recoil spring guide but it could be fixed back by just simply replace them once it break or modify the recoil spring guide by cutting down a bit. I made a thread about WE 1911 broke and there is intruction how to fix it, you might want to read and learn how to fix. WE MEU or Socom Gear MEU and Wilson Combat, they are the new generation of WE 1911 which has trade mark on, Guarder parts make for TM are compatible but just only the upper though, lower is not compatible. It turn out that they are pretty good and no news on ASC that person who owe them has been broke one yet. |
I haven't noticed any major complaints regarding Socom Gear GBBs or the new version 3 WETTI AWSS GBB rifles. However, I still wouldn't touch any of the WE models released any earlier than a year ago. The horror stories and trouble many have had aren't worth the persistent headache - I'd rather suffer a little, save up longer and enjoy longer than save up less, have it sooner and regret it longer.

I had a WE 1911 that blew the front end off of 3 slides including 1 real steel slide. The thing was a piece of junk, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
|
I had the WE 1911 tactical from Mopic. Spring plug broke in less then 2 months (about 3-4 mags worth through it) but Tys helped me fix that problem thankfully catching the problem before the brushings would have broke. Couple weeks ago, gun is about 6 months old with less then 10 mags through it, mag release/mag catch broke. Haven't found a fix for this.
This was my 2nd airsoft gun, my first BNIB though but it hasn't been the greatest experience. Only been in the sport for 8 months, figured I was bound to run into a lemon. |
for the recoil spring thing issue, i just grind down the guide a bit i guess?
BTW its a used gun that's had many mags through it and still fires, does that mean it should be fine without modifications?? |
Get a guarder recoil spring. It'll lessen the damage from the blowback action.
mmm.... TM GBBs..... *drool*. If you get a TM hi-capa (I got mine with 1 mag for $300), it will last a good while. Although that didn't apply for mine, which blew the slide at the rear sight after 500 rounds... But that's probably because I acted like a jackass with it, spraying at the helpless box. mmm.... Airsoft Surgeon slide..... *drool* |

I've owned 2 WE 1911 and have loved them. the only thing that was squemish, was the leaf springs in both. but very easy and fast to fix!

As for WE in general:
I bought a WE P14 last year and it has been pretty good since. Slide and mag are a bit loose and can rattle a little when you shake it laterally, but not a major issue for me. Shoots well even in cooler days but that might have been because I had a bit of CO2 seep into my propane tank when I was topping off my 40mm's. Mags were then topped off at the field not thinking. The P14 is capable of shooting CO2 so I was worried more about the seals blowing before issues with the gun. |
What about mag compatibility with the KJW 1911, i wonder if the KJW mag is wider because it has a higher capacity, or if it would fit

As far as I'm concerned, WE is stepping up it's game to a whole new level:
Last week I went down to the War Store with a friend and we tried out the demo model of the WE-TTI AWSS M4 for Law Enforcement. PTW? Lame compared to this thing. Price? 380USD. That's insane. I look forward to these being released and trickling down into the Canadian market, these things are going to change airsoft. Yes, WE has had problems in the past. No, I don't own any WE guns. But by God, those AWSS are great. We'll see how they do in the long run. |
Yeah I'm looking forward to that and the WETTI SCAR.
WE-TTI is making some solid product from the sounds of it. Did you go with Alan? Quote:

PS. with a Noveske Fire Pig on the front of the AWSS at 500fps... it's actually uncomfortably loud to stand next to the shooter... |
|
Bit of a thread derail... anyways, any1 know if the KJW 24 round 1911 mags fit in the WE?

wow i honestly cant believe half the put downs i'm hearing about this gun i hink for the price and performance its great.........my only problem was my hammer catching on the slide but that got fixed, by filing down the hammer abit

My WE1911 isn't exactly the picture of health but it gets the job done I suppose.

Ive owned 3 WE 1911's now... a 1911A1, 1911 Tactical, and an 1911 MEU.
The issues with the slides blowing apart was caused by the recoil spring guide being to long and hitting the spring guide plug and causing stress on the barrel bushing and front end of the slide.... This was an easy fix and all that needed to be done was file off about 2-3mm off the front of the recoil spring guide. It was a known issue with the 1911A1 but had since been fixed in later models (still worth it to take a caliper and make sure... can never be to safe) After those precautions were taken all of the guns I owned were top notch and a real blast to shoot! Love the price of them and the sake that they are full metal. |
Bougth a We 1911 a year ago. Started to fail cycling after 3 or four 4 mag.
I manage to fix the problem by compressing more the recoil spring. |
