DIY wall mount / gun rack?

How do you guys display your AEG's? For example, if you have 4-5 , i don't think you just put them on the ground or in your closet right? I mean, it'll be cool if anyone did some DIY wall mounts for AEGs. I would like to make one.

Thank you for your time ;)

KND August 3rd, 2009 01:45

Here is how I mount my gun.

I got if from Dollar store.

Ayashifx55 August 3rd, 2009 01:48

yea , something like that buddy , with maybe a wooden board or a card board with holes behind the hooks? if you know what i mean? there must be a name for it

theguy August 3rd, 2009 01:53

pegboard?

KND August 3rd, 2009 01:55

well I knew what you mean. I prefer something like that, just need four screw and screwdriver then you are done. The one that you talking about, my girlfriend just say no no no.

Ayashifx55 August 3rd, 2009 02:07

cause my room is in the basement (it's already wood) but the wood is not nice as background so i would like to cover it up. Reno depot ? Did you simply use hooks for clothes?

I do. I live in an apartment, so one the off chance there is a gas leak etc, and the super needs into my apartment for an emergency, I don't wanna have to deal with the Kingston Police showing up at work if he gets freaked out by my "display".

I'd actually keep them in a gun cabinet, sadly I don't own one yet. But for now guncases in a closet work fine.

They sell pegboard @ places like Rona etc, and I've seen it done that way before, looks alright.

Disco_Dante August 3rd, 2009 11:17

I've got a new house in London, and I'm going up this weekend to paint and then put up hooks much like KND has. Although my guns will be going in the furnace room, where they're very unlikely to be spotted by prying eyes.

CrackShot 07137 August 3rd, 2009 12:11

I bought these "store like" racks from Rona "$10-$20"

Just didn't install them that good...

It's actually USMC SAM-R. The scope is the replica of Tasco scope.

You can get one from here

Loathing August 3rd, 2009 15:33

Nice thanks! I've been thinking of putting a rifle scope on my SPR and taking the aimpoint/magnifier thats on it currently and putting it on my M4 build, so I've been looking around at different scopes.

Silent_Angel August 3rd, 2009 18:05

A slot wall might be good too, since you can move the hooks around to make room for new toys lol.

I have a small one set up in my room to display the most used/favorite weapon, but the rest I keep it hidden

Hash Vapor August 4th, 2009 03:39

I found a back from a workbench that was part of the display model at Walmart. It had been set for clearance. I paid $35 for it.

Actually he reset his camera. I can be witness for all those Arsenal. :D

jhope95 August 4th, 2009 17:12

It's in the section with the MDF and particle board in the back. Ask someone at the store and they will guide you.

I have the same thing Vapor has and it came from the bottom of an old crib. Check your local thrift stores. You'd be amazed what you can find.

I did the same as KND.. just got some Heavy duty wall hangers from the dollar store, painted them black.. rolled some electric tape around so they dont scratch.

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=2079
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=2078

I think it's pretty effective, as I don't see any railing or pegboard to distract from the actual showcase (I'll eventually get some pegboard and relocate them when I have a few more guns).. and the wall contrasts well with the dark colored guns.

What d'you guys think?

UrbanSniper April 6th, 2011 22:41

There in texas, however they make some real nice stuff I have one of there parts trays for my Ar15's.

I was contemplating buying there horrizontal wall mounts(they make a bunch of mounts) and using them instead of going a peg board or bracket route. Might require a tad bit of modding to work on a aeg (I dont have one yet so I cant really say).

L473ncy April 7th, 2011 03:20

Godspeed, is it such a good idea to have them right beside the window? I mean it's better than having it in front of the window but maybe you should hang them in a room with no windows or a room where the blinds are always closed.

Spawn28 April 7th, 2011 13:15

All idid was use a couple 4X8 sheets of plywood and 6 inch deck screws a little bit of tape and voila instant gun wall.

Oh yeah and FREE GUN PORN!

Tough I'd share mine, unfortunately I'm selling my house and will have to live in an appartment for a year, But I'll definitely rebuild this set-up :D The Tan/Black HK416/M4 and the UMP are sold, but I've got some more not pictured that replaced them.

Besides the window is by far the best place they could go.. being parrallel to my window is the whole point in having them out of view.

Thanks for showing concern though.

If it can reassure you, I usually think about what I do before I do it.. took a few days to make up my mind as to the best place to put them for now, public eyes being my first concern... they are exactly 11 inches away from the window.. a window frame that is over 14 inches deep. I live on a second floor; even if you we're to climb with a ladder and stick your head on the window, you can't see them, the angle is much too small to be viewed from anywhere but inside my room. No other wall was proper as they would all have a view from outside.

And, to reassure you even more; if they even COULD be viewed because of the angle, when i move my blinds sideways, they would completely cover them from... what the heck, here is a picture I just took actually from INSIDE my room pointing towards the guns themselves..

Got peg board from hardware store.

L473ncy April 7th, 2011 19:26

GODSPEED, wow seems like a lot of thought was put into that.

I didn't see how the window sill was recessed but yeah considering your thought process that's actually a pretty solid place to put your gun rack (for airsoft.... I think for real steel the police/CFO might have a problem with putting them there like that even with a trigger lock and a cable lock bolted to the wall or w/e).

Personally, I don't show off my shit like that, out of sight out of mind but once I build my secret underground bunker a la "Blast from the Past" I'll have a whole room dedicated to guns and stuff just like in Boondock Saints (especially the rope.... gotta have the stupid feckin rope).

From a personal experience; a policeman once saw me with my airsoft, right away told him it wasn't real.. he actually was quite impressed and held it, I offered him to try it, but he didn't; explained to him WHY I had that. He did say it was pretty neat and the whole tactical game sounded like lots of fun, then he just walked off (he realized I wasn't some little troublemaker or some kid up to no good). I won't get into the details of HOW or WHERE that happened.. but no I wasn't robbing a store or doing anything stupid that would give Airsoft(ers) a bad name. And I'm strictly against public display of Airsoft equipment, wether it's at the corner store or your local bank.. hihi

About the real steel.. hum, I know laws everywhere are kind of different, but I haven't done any particular reasearch as to proper gun storage. Although, I am quite positive - that with a gun lock and no ammunition present - a rifle or shotgun could legally be sowcased on a wall. (Maybe a tactical shotgun may not complement a victorian styled living room.. but a musket would..) none the less, I don't see why not. You're boss in your home as long as you stay civil.

 Maybe if I hang a rope though... might get me into some trouble.. hmmm... I wonder.

Was it any good? I've heard lots of issues with Velocity not being constant and internals not being that awesome.. so I went the Classic Army route and so far so good.

audi_bhoy April 7th, 2011 22:20

I'll be brief, as this thread is about gun racks, but G&G are know for having compression issues, mainly due to the piston head, and at sometimes the nozzle.

I've ordered some gridwall for display.. I ordered in black, a few people i know use this, and you often see it used in the movies. Google gridwall and you can take a look. Lots of options for hooks and storage. This is my friends paintball setup

GODSPEED|seven April 9th, 2011 17:25

I checked that out, and that will be my next upgrade.. I would just like to know how much I should expect to pay for shipping to canada.. They cannot tell me unless I go thru with an order.

Jcotter October 9th, 2011 20:05

A friend of mine was throwing a piece of slatwall away so I was able to get it free. It had been painted white and was left outside for a few days by the time I had got it. The first thing I had to do was take it inside and clean it. After getting all the bugs and dirt off of it, I got some green painters tape and started to tape over the white.

http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/2938/img2077i.jpg

Once I had the entire top covered in tape, I trimmed the tape off of the edges of the slatwall.

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/319/img2078q.jpg

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4264/img2079ah.jpg

Once I had all my taping done, I painted the cracks with flat black spray paint. I made sure to get the ends of the slatwall as well.

http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2706/img2080w.jpg

After letting the spray paint dry I removed the tape, leaving the tops white, the cracks and, ends black.

http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/1739/img2082w.jpg

Using a roller and paint I had color matched to the walls in my room, I painted all of the white red.

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4028/img2084t.jpg

While letting the paint dry I painted some strapping I had left over from another project black. After everything had dried, I glued the strapping to the face of the slatwall. Once dried I added some finish nails for good measure.

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5505/img2085p.jpg

I then glued and nailed more strapping to the edges I had painted black earlier. Making a frame.

http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/9906/img2086t.jpg

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/1307/img2087c.jpg

For mounting the gun and any accessories I have to the slatwall ,I picked up some pegboard hardware that would also work on the slatwall and painted then flat black. This was the only thing I had to go buy which cost the $2.00. (everything else I already had or, got for free)

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4249/img2088vy.jpg

Once I had the slatwall mounted to some studs I painted the screw holes, finish nails and any other spots that needed touched up.

here's the finished project and a little gun pron ( I plan to only display my m4 but have many accessories displayed, kind of like that barbie sopmod m4 poster. I still have lots to get.)

I'm interested in seeing more of the car. Your garage flooring is simply fab as well.

Nice wall though.
