+and- of magwell adapter
Just wondering what you all have to say about a m4 magwell adapter for a g36
|
M4 mags make G36 ugly as hell

As for a good post just make sure you get the more recent versions of them since the older one are really picky on the mag brand you can use in them. |
Stick to the g36 mags
|
Would it just be better to just go for g36 mags instead or do you find the adapters usefull

i guess purpose built pouches would probably be easier to find for AR mags so maybe thats a plus?
the only g36 mag pouches that come to mind are made by TT but theirs probably more that i missed |
So do g36 mags not fit well in regular tac vest pouches? And I found some without the bullets on ehobbyasia. I believe they are king arms

Most vests and pouches are gears around armalite (M16, M4, M733, etc.) mags. G36 mags are a fair bit thicker than aramlite mags and also have the connectors on the sides which hang up on a lot of pouches that they do fit in. Tactical Tailor make G36 specific pouches as do Dropzone Tactical. These are designed to take two mags clipped together. Most armalite pouches that fit three AR mags are just a bit too small to take two G36 mags. I also run with TACGEAR and ARKTIS rigs ant they take double G36 mags no problem.
Now, I also use both the older Private Parts and the current SOCOM AR magwell conversions. While I agree using AR mags destroys the look of the gun (visible rounds are just way tacticool, though 20 round AR VN mags do look kind of neat), it does make a lot more gear compatible to the mags and chances are, you will be able to swap mags with teammates easier should the need arise. The only issue I've had using the magwell conversion is you'll loose about 6 bb's every time you pull the mag out. With G36 mags, you loose 2. |
They are not so bad. I put one on my SL-9SD...

Former G36 with AR magwell conversion user here. Agree with Darklen on all account.
I personally find the loss of 6 BBs acceptable (provided not using realcaps) given the lower profile and greater commonality of the AR mags. |
I'll google those. And there is no chance of them fitting in regular vests?
|
Chances are, you'll only be able to fit one G36 mag into a pouch designed for two AR mags. If the pouch is made for three AR mags, it's really hit & miss if two G36 mags will fit.

Not to worried about fitting more than one in the pouch because I'm not really a sprayer so thanks for the help. Mods this can be locked or deleted or whatever

Here's a series of pics I just did to illustrate the slight size difference. The pouch shown is a Tactical Tailor 3 AR mag pouch.
http://onfinite.com/libraries/1534614/120.jpg Three AR mags vs. 2 clipped G36 mags. you can see when I stacked them end to end, the G36 mags are just a little wider then three AR mags. That stabilizer lip near the top is a pain as well when getting mags in and out of tight pouches. http://onfinite.com/libraries/1534615/023.jpg http://onfinite.com/libraries/1534616/28d.jpghttp://onfinite.com/libraries/1534617/bfd.jpg |
sorry for the necro. But i was just wondering if you find it worth it to keep the clips on your G36 mags because they make it such a hassle to get in and out of pockets.
again sorry for the necro |
you could always use the Pmags with the adapter, that should look sexy and still fit in M4 pouches.

I have Sig 552 which has the same plastic clips as the G36. My advice is to get rid of them. From my expirience, having the mags clipped together just makes the gun more bulky. Not to mention that the clips dont do the best job of holding the mags together. One of the biggest problems I find though is that the clips get caught on the lip of the mag pouch and anything else that may be in its path. To remove the clips unscrew the little circilar end and take the c shaped clips off with a sharp chisel and hammer. Its the cleanest way to do it and doesnt leave any scratch marks on the rest of the mag unlike a hack saw.

M4 mags are much better in terms of comfort and accessbility .... I had huge mags for my G3SG1 and i can barely put 1 mag into 1 pouch..... I tried M4 mags and i can put 2 of them. But if you have big pouches and plenty of it and you don't care about whether you fit more or less mags... then go for G36's .... |
Those King Arms 95 Round Mags fit Wicked awesome in the SRC's G36's.
They fit in tight, And don't have much wiggle. If you place it in the gun with about 6mm-8mm left to push in, And just slap it in with your hand, they work beautiful! |
Due to the cost of re-equipping another gun with mags that are awkward and hard to carry, I'm seriously considering the magwell option for my G36 too. While the G36 mags look a LOT nicer (particularly with fake bullets), the convenience of having ample STANAG mags and being able to easily carry lots of them in my vests wins out. And to me, functionality trumps cosmetics any day.

I have 4 ARs. So yeah, it's definitely more convenient to have that than G36 mags. I can only fit 1 G36 mag per double AR pouch. And the clips on it make it hard to insert and remove them.
