RPK?

Hey, I want to build an RPK, but aside from the different wood kit and the longer barrel and bipod, i have no idea where to start. i dont know a lot about guns, not the little details anyways, and i want the RPK to be as close to the real thing as possible. What model of AK would i start with for the body? are there any little differences that i should be aware of? any help would be greatly appreciated

there is quite a bit of differences, if you want a good "kit" get G&P stuff, its gonna be pricey though. I figured out an RPK build with nice pieces was gonna cost me roughly $300-$500.... depends on shipping and other nice little charges.

A true RPK has a little piece on the receiver like this, in red:

Top is an LCT RPK receiver, and bottom is a regular AKM/74 receiver.

I'm going to be getting RPK kits in, which include an outer barrel, inner barrel, gas tube, wood kit, and bipod.

Cost will be between $150 and $200

Contact me if you want to preorder one.

Where would i get an RPK reciever? and ill definatly let you know when im ready to build one :)

Dart November 16th, 2009 19:12

reciever would be the only PITA thing to get as you can't import that your self.

Tommygun_ted November 16th, 2009 19:17

That receiver would be very, VERY hard to find. I'd say use a regular AK47 or AK74 (making it an RPK74) body.

There's a thread by someone on redalliance.com who just JB welded a strip of aluminum to replicate the receiver reinforcement.

Brilliant solution! I wish I had thought of that one.

You really can't go wrong w/ the LCT RPK receiver;

I have one I procured for an ongoing project, and it's the best airsoft AK receiver I have ever laid my hands on. All stamped steel, accurate, and the finish is top shelf.

PDI makes a barrel that is just awesome, LCT recieves are just wicked, but someone already said that. you can sometimes get Ca,TSD,Gaurder RPK on the for sale forums.
Wood kits you can get from almost anywhere, I got mine from huang, its very red. You will need a longer inner barrel, I used a PSG1 barrel and cut it down. I didn't notice any advantage with using a bore up kit. Drums you can get from almost anywhere. remember to use a mosfet if you are going to use lipo, also a new motor will help. Oh and flashider there is a couple choice from the bell to the slant.

Can you get a drum mags too? I have been looking for a self winding with no luck. Maybe im looking in the wrong spots, But because of this it has lead me to abandon my RPK project.

Be careful with the outer barrels...I have a SRC RPK outer (basically a clone of the Guarder kit) and the barrel extension's outer diameter is bigger than the inner diameter of a stock Marui outer barrel....meaning the barrel extension doesn't fit inside without some serious sanding/filing or lathe work.
