SHÖCK January 3rd, 2010 10:18

Damn, why did I just buy a 4x flip to side magnifier and eotech. I should have bought this instead!!!

Brit ter January 3rd, 2010 11:02

Very nice !

Thenooblord January 3rd, 2010 11:11

why does the scope have smoke coming out the top in one pic?

kalnaren January 3rd, 2010 11:12

Does the scope come with the 4-8-4?

Qlong January 3rd, 2010 11:39

Well with the clones, the overheating and the shorting of the red dot electronics is a widely known issue, which is the major cause of thick choking black smoke spewing out from the unseen opening of the Spectre DR clone.

theguy January 3rd, 2010 11:42

Holy shit Holy shit Holy shit!!

I am totally buying one the day it comes out!

Too bad they don't come in tan :\

EDIT:

Hang on.. I think its just a 4x scope. The page doesn't say anything about the 1x/4x switching ability...

Bleh.

Ah! Makes perfect sense now! :D

MilanWG January 3rd, 2010 11:56

Any idea when they will be available?
I hope they are not a POS...

BORDENSNIPER January 3rd, 2010 13:13

Incredible, now hopefully the quality is gonna be worth the price!

warbird January 3rd, 2010 13:32

I'm tempted!

Donster January 3rd, 2010 13:33

Its about time. thats all i have to say.

in the one picture, it shows two different levels of magnification. i think this clone will possess the 1-4 magnification ability

Look carefully. The two shots are actually the same magnification. Theres no way that the cardboard box is 4 times bigger in one of those shots then it is in the other.

Steven January 3rd, 2010 14:06

Pretty sure in those pictures, they are showing the two different colored reticules.

And maybe stepped forward a bit for the next picture..

panzergrenadier January 3rd, 2010 15:35

The camera is closer to the scope in the second picture

MilanWG January 3rd, 2010 15:35

I noticed it only says:

"4X Magnifier Scope with red / Green Illuminated crosshair"

I don't see any mention of the two rifle sights in one which the RS Specter DR has and can be switched instantly from a 4x long-range sight to a 1x wide field-of-view CQB.

Has anyone emailed EBairsoft for more info?

Shirley January 3rd, 2010 15:40

Neat :)

BORDENSNIPER January 3rd, 2010 15:56

anyone know if this thing has some sort of Rubber coat?

peacekeeper January 3rd, 2010 16:04

when will this be rdy

Conker January 3rd, 2010 17:58

Very, very tempted!

To answers some of the questions:
-Fixed 4x magnification
-Red/Green dot
-No rubber coat

I've emailed Paul for more info.

Ronan January 3rd, 2010 23:44

Theirs a 1x-4x one also. Cost $2000ish ;)

Nice clone can't wait for a review :D

RacingManiac January 3rd, 2010 23:50

btw, a question about the real one, does it have unlimited eye relief in the 1x mode? or is it like other multi-power 1x-something optic that still has a set eye relief in 1x?

Drake January 3rd, 2010 23:54

This doesn't seem to have 1x, only 4x

And I can only hope the eye relief is better than the ACOG

I'm thinking its just a matter of time before someone (I'm thinking G&P or KA) come out with a better version.

skalnok January 4th, 2010 00:03

when i got to play with a real one im pretty sure it had unlimited in 1x but this was like 8 months ago and i may be wrong

Cause the Eotech flip to side one looks 10 times more awesome. And with a touch of a button it goes to 1x zoom as opposed to touching weird nubs and dials.

Conker January 4th, 2010 08:04

Hum, no. On the Elcan, that's a simple 'switch' on the left side of the optic. Not 'weird nub and dials'.

warbird January 4th, 2010 09:15

Yeh, but you can't even do it with the clone haha. I'll stick with my Aimpoint and magnifier!

SHÖCK January 5th, 2010 02:38

Available now, clearly says on the page now "Only 4X fixed !!! can not change from 1x to 4x"

I guess a lot of people asked! :)

huang January 5th, 2010 08:57

There is another version that is 1x to 4x. The expensive one.

Because of the magnifying optics and the switching prism, you're still looking through tubed lenses (more than two), so there is a limited eye relief. The upside is that it's exactly the same distance between 1x and 4x mode, so you do not have to adjust shooting position. If you move your eye beyond the eye relief position, you'd get the halo shadow in your view - just like with a 4x scope optic.

Actually, you just push one lever to switch modes.

See the lever below the "4x 1x" markings? It's currently pushed to the "1x" side:

surebet January 7th, 2010 19:26

I'm waiting on the first reviews before grabbing one, but it's on the list

Ronan January 9th, 2010 00:30

Urgh i'm so tempted in buying one but i'm scared its a POS...

Drake January 9th, 2010 10:24

I'm gonna wait for a better clone (that also does 1x). Otherwise it's just another ACOG.

Qlong January 9th, 2010 15:14

BLING version

http://www.brotherprice.com/ebphoto/...e%20de%20a.jpg

RacingManiac January 9th, 2010 15:22

So it still has the eye-relief of a mag optic in 1x mode...much like the 1x-4x(analogue, not discrete) type shortdot then....

KoolAidMan January 9th, 2010 15:27

wheres the version that handles 1x and 4x how much more is it?

Conker January 9th, 2010 15:32

That's nice that that they've put out a DE version, but the finish looks pretty shitty... At least, trades look very good and complete.

http://www.waridiot.org/index_eprodu...products_id=59

A search here on ASC would have brought you 2-3 threads about it. 570$+shipping.

I'm very tempted, but I know that at least 2 plants in China were working on it, including one that is supposedly doing two versions (a "budget", probably fixed magnification version and a second, "high grade" version which will probably have both).
This is probably one of the two plants mentionned, so there's at least another one that was coming soon... (got this info on some chinese forum.... so don't take that as 100% accurate, but it is plausible).

And there's also the taiwanese Monda International, but I can't seem to be able to reach them anymore.

Just for people who don't know a Spectre DR will cost ya $2k, the clone was advert about $450.

For number crunching firearm sights are as followed for comparision:
EOTech $500+
Aimpoint $400+
Trijicon ACOG 4X $1300+
Elcan SpectreOS3.4 (aka C79) $1100

Awesome, any indications of pricing?

Conker February 22nd, 2010 01:00

Nope unfortunately, all they have yet is this prototype. My contact on that is a distributor, so they will sell it to shops for retail... thus these will set the retail price themselves.

I do have more/bigger pics of their prototype... I'll post them when I'll have some time.

They're back from the Chinese new year holiday, so I'll try to see if there's news on it.

Drake February 22nd, 2010 01:16

Nice, just in time!

Conker February 22nd, 2010 01:33

I've just been told they should begin to stock them within about a month.

More info coming this week as they're restarting the office after the holidays. I'll keep you updated!

Conker February 28th, 2010 21:39

OK... got word of the wholesale price. I won't say it exactly out of respect for the retailers, however I wouldn't expect the retail price to be under 300$ CAD.

I was thinking of selling my 2 EOTech clones and my magnifier to get it, but damn at that price... I'm not sure anymore. I guess I'll hope someone else buys it so I can get convinced I really need it :P

Should be instock at said supplier this week or next and shipping shortly later...

Pictures of the final version coming very soon (for now I've just got the prototype), so I'll let you know.

Drake February 28th, 2010 21:42

Still beats the price of a real one and that other repro.

All depends on the quality though. I don't mind paying if its good glass, etc. But if its crappy Chinese glass that's blurry around the edges and has shit for eye relief, i'll put the money towards a real Eotech or something.

Anything can be done if you're persistent and know how to completely disassemble the assembly to do so. I hope you're skilled with optics and electronics. Besides that, there's no "easy" way to do it.

EDIT: Actually, there IS an easy way to disable the red/green dot: Remove the battery. :P

Phalanix or one of the other photographers had a snapshot of a the person who Souljah lent that particular gun to and the "gold" peices really stood out in an overcast lighting situation.

Hi guys,

SpecterDR 1-4x will be released very soon.

As what I've been told it'll be told in 2-3 weeks, as most of you guys also has been told and heard.

I actually managed to get myself ONE of these sights and it's on it's way to me right now(!!!).

When I receive it I will post a review and pictures of it.

Keep an eye open here next week or so!

Now, seriously, if the regular elcan already costs 149$, how much will this 1-4X model be?

Thanks :)

jimmysjogren April 20th, 2010 04:40

It'll be somewhere around 150-190 dollars. Thier pre-order price is 180 I think.

Time to save (again)

jimmysjogren April 23rd, 2010 04:02

Hi guys...

I've some bad news... Waridiot who was suppose to send me the 1-4x SpecterDR has sent me a 4x only sight...

The hole conversation we had on e-mail was specifically about the new version that had 1x and 4x zoom and not 4x and of course they sent me the wrong damn part...

I cannot understand how this is possible but it is. Funny thing is that I never during the hole conversation said Yes to the 4x Specter, never. Just questions regarding it and they replied "we got one in stock and it costs this".

Sorry guys for this it was never my attention to start a lie, only to get myself a cool sight and you some pictures until the final release will be available.

Skorpion April 23rd, 2010 05:49

No problem jimmy, just give them hell and get your money back ;)

jimmysjogren April 23rd, 2010 05:51

Problem is that I need an optic with 4x for greenside and an upcoming game so I can't really send it back.

Actually it looks a lot better than the G&P (and the rest of the ACOG for that matter) when it comes to optic and size of the optic so if I had to choose between the ACOG and this Specter I'd pick the Specter.

Skorpion April 23rd, 2010 06:03

Well, Glad at least you are happy with the purchase :) but I will keep waiting for the 1-4x and see how good/bad it is :) or simply get this for short and long shooting. A bit big, but cool nonetheless :)

jimmysjogren April 23rd, 2010 06:07

Saw that the other day. Almost look like the Nightforce sight.

Too bad me and my team do SEAL impression, otherwise that'd be a choice of course.

Skorpion April 23rd, 2010 06:13

I will get it when I have money enough, fortunatly for me "im a free artist" :P

But sorry, im going a bit off topic here ^_^U

ripanu1 May 9th, 2010 09:04

You might prefer buying from them, same price as EBB with the shipping, but MUCH better service, from what I've got so far: http://www.acmgear.com/product_info.php?products_id=524

Put shortly: it's a great optic.
The only real con is that it's 4X fixed.

What has put me off from buying one is that 4X is quite a lot... but I'd buy one in a heartbeat if there was a docter sight mount available for it.

You can buy a Docter mount for $70...http://swfa.com/Elcan-SpecterDR-Mount-P45973.aspx

The real one doesn't do 2x or 3x. The internal prism only flips it from 1x to 4x and back. It's not a linear adjustment like a long scope.

Surprised these are available now. They use to be limited to certain military units only.

The Tasco and the Samurai clones all fit the same mount.

Well... real Doctersights have been difficult find these days, but if you can (probably won't be from the US), they'll cost anywhere from $400 to $900.
The clones aren't too expensive. The most expensive is the Tasco unit, which can be considered to be a real steel item sold by a couple of airsoft stores, and even that is just a touch over $200. I know from personal experience that this will fit the Elcan Doctersight mount.
Other "MRD" (Mini Red Dot) sights on the market that *may* fit Doctersight mounts are also on the market, and even the most expensive one is just a touch over $400USD. Such models would be the CMore STS, JP Enterprises, Safariland Spec Ops, Burris FastFire, Trijicon RedDot, Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated, Laser Devices Sub-Miniature, Leupold DeltaPoint and Sightmark Mini Shot.

From that extensive list alone, you can tell that Doctersight really changed the industry. Even companies like LaRue have created specialized combat accessories for the MRD platform, such as this:

As a tip, if you're buying for real steel use, you'll want a dot size around 7MOA. Anything smaller than.... let's say 5MOA would probably start to be too small for airsoft use.

The Samurai unit can be had for less than $150 if you can find it. These days, they're not as available as they use to be.

Scroll down a bit. Or Ctrl-F and enter "Samurai"

I've tested pretty much every single airsoft replica clone on the market, and the Samurai is probably the best one, at least most comparable to my extensive use with a real Doctersight. Very crisp dot, clean glass, and effective ambient light sensor.

Will one of these Specter DR replicas withstand the abuse of a GBBR rifle? I know when mounting a Aimpoint Micro T1 on a GBBR, they shake themselves to death...
Also a chance the glass might get shot-out. Any type of ARD device available yet to save the glass?

Real ARD's exist... I don't think it's been documented whether it will fit the replica or not.

Just ordered mine on ACM-Gear... let's see how it goes!

huang May 18th, 2010 22:23

1x - 4x should come this summer. And there will be 2 factories make them. So hopefully the price can drop

Conker May 18th, 2010 22:53

Damn... Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my order and wait or what...

Huang, any idea on the price, approximately, and release? (this summer as in june or august?)

Lol, thats because they come out in the summer so you probably didn't see them

They 1/4x will be $399 though. Not worth it, imo.
Especially considering the questionable durability of constantly switching between 4x and 1x RDS on a ACM, i think it would be more practical and more aesthetically pleasing to grab the $149 4x, get a mount for $70, and get a clone mini dot and you are talking anywhere from $260-360 depending on the ACM RDS you get on top, which is cheaper than the 1/4x.
More convienient too, imo

Of course thats a huge investment in itself lol, more expensive than a lot of people's guns -.-
