Mail

I tried searching with a few different keywords, but nothing came up. Bottom line is: is it safe to mail airsoft parts with Canada Post? Specifically, a silencer. I wouldn't be worried about scopes or mags or whatever.

R.I.T.Z March 1st, 2010 01:38

yes, just make sure its in a box, CP(canada post) doesn't open your parcels heck we ship guns across canada

TaroBear March 1st, 2010 01:40

Wow, thanks for quick reply. I guess we can close this thread now.

Sully March 1st, 2010 09:26

As long as it's being shipped within Canada you are all good. If it's being shipped from outside the country then you may run into some problems. Although the problems wouldn't be from CP, it'd be from the CBSA.

Rock 'N' Roll Outlaw March 1st, 2010 09:39

Even though their not supposed to ask, if they do (usually when shipping a gun) if they ask you whats inside of it, just avoid any long-winded explanations and say its an "instrument" or "hobby parts" because your not lying when saying that.

L473ncy March 1st, 2010 10:25

I had "toys" on the shipping manifest before. Keep in mind that it's also a felony to open other people mail except in certain circumstances (ie. Police have a Warrant, or you haven't picked up your package for X number of months and it can't be returned or there's no return address or something).

Just don't lie if they ask you what it is. Just say it's "private" or "toys" or "models".

cuz if its a long cylindrical object and labelled "private toy"- no CP employee will open it. ;)

TaroBear March 1st, 2010 23:09

"I have a "hard metal shaft" in it, what of it good sir?"

Rock 'N' Roll Outlaw March 1st, 2010 23:11

Then you would just be charged with sexual assault.

TaroBear March 31st, 2010 18:29

Well, I'm back again. This time I'm wondering, what service do you folks use to mail AEGs? And I mean with the original manufacturer box and all. Putting an address on a box that has a giant picture of an assault rifle of it seems like a bad idea.

-Trooper- March 31st, 2010 18:34

If you're using the original box, just wrap it up.

Theirs something called parcel wrapping. Its basically long sheets of brown paper. Tape that stuff around the box, and ship away. It never failed me. Found at CP stores mostly.

If you feel cheap, go to Dolarama and get some $1 gift wrap, and you can use ether side.

TaroBear March 31st, 2010 18:36

And after that I just take it to the post office like any normal package?

TokyoSeven March 31st, 2010 18:37

A common practice is to take the box top and turn it inside out and then tape it back together at the corners. After that you can simply wrap it in plain brown packaging paper, address it and send it on its way.

Tex March 31st, 2010 18:38

yup wrap it up or turn the box inside out tape it up and ship it.

Rock 'N' Roll Outlaw March 31st, 2010 19:04

If you want to cheap out even more than just get a local newspaper and wrap the shit out of it and lots of tape. Its what Ive used when in a bind.

Shooting Addict March 31st, 2010 20:26

Off topic but does anybody know if CP offer cash on deliver shipping?

Sorry I'm blind.

TaroBear March 31st, 2010 20:42

Think I'll go for the newspaper option. It sounds deliciously ghetto and cost efficient.

Wait... Newspaper? That really works? Don't you get some look when you bring it into the post office...

Honestly, I just bought some supplies and it only costed me less than 6$ (Brown wrapping paper, packing tape from Canada Post)

Ive used it as a last ditch effort when I didn't have enough time to make it to the PO to pick up wrapping paper. Just give it a few layers and enough tape, you should be fine.

Boyso March 31st, 2010 21:47

Just get the newspaper page with the cartoons, works best and it's always fun.

I shipped a box full of video games in a box of beer (24-beer pack). Without covering it. Just to see the facial expression of that CP employee was priceless.

TokyoSeven March 31st, 2010 22:12

I have received and sent parcels wrapped in pornographic material.

I ship all the guns I sell by turning the box inside out and taping it up. The box goes together easily because it's just a mirror of itself with all the right tabs in all the right places. I've yet to have a box I can't turn inside out and stays solid as is.

I do it for pistols, rifles, launchers.

What i call if they ask:

Model (better word than replica)
Air gun (its a gun...propel by air!)
Insturment (when you declare over large amount eg $1000+)

No, you say "none of your business".

Rock 'N' Roll Outlaw April 1st, 2010 07:41

I usually just say instrument/musical instrument/electronic equipment/music instrument. Saying "none of your business" to an employee that sometimes likes to peak into packages might not be the best idea. Its true you don't have to say anything, but why not save yourself some trouble?

Spike April 1st, 2010 07:45

If you tape the corners up and have the box wrapped, there's no way someone could "peek" into the box without it being tampered with.

CP is not allowed and won't ask you what's in the box, as there is no customs within country. That being said, don't have it displayed that you're shipping a gun in a box, because that's just stupid.

Oh and +1 for newspaper, I always use that shit. Why would I spend 6$ on a roll of brown paper when I can get newspaper for free?

And thats stopped people before?

coach April 1st, 2010 08:20

guys, don't assume your brown paper wrap will go undamaged. paper tears easily. can be from the conveyor belts in the plant to snagging on a shelf in the delivery truck.

as previously mentioned best bet it to turn your box inside out and tape it well.

but, I've had stuff come from paranoid people that had nearly a half a roll of duct tape around a shoe box. lol
