WGC no longer accepting paypal?

Just attempted to put through a WGC order. Despite the fact that they have had a "no paypal" policy towards Canada for awhile, I've been able to pay for my orders with that method no problem.

All of a sudden my paypal transfer was refunded with a "telegraphic transfer only" message.

Anyone else run into this? I'm thinking of taking my order elsewhere, as I can't be bothered with a wire transfer.

It happened to me but only for restricted item such as metal receivers. Otherwise I ust recently (couple days ago) order a PBS-1 with paypal no problem.

Sounds to me like they don't want to deal with a paypal claim if the item gets seized and the customer utilizes the paypal policy to get their money back. Kinda sneaky if you ask me.

They probably have flags on certain products that can't be bought by Paypal. What were you trying to buy?

ujiro June 15th, 2009 15:55

Yeah it must be that as I just very recently put an order through and paid with Paypal no problem. So unless they have changed their policy in the last week...

Hmm, nothing that was restricted, some mags (no fake bullets), internals, M2 red dot.....

Perhaps it was a mistake, I'll put the same order through again and I'll see.

Thanks for the feedback fellows.

They don't like sending mags (or some mags at least) to Canadians.
They don't know our laws so they probably blanket-policy anything that has been seized in the past.

Kokanee June 16th, 2009 06:03

That's just the thing, I've ordered all this stuff before, and have been since '03...

Got this as a response to an email inquiry;

"Dear Customer,
Thanks, order accept telegraphic transfer only."

Meh, their loss.

So the only way to order from WGC now is by TT? Wow, that's dumb.

Hopefully Redwolf doesn't pull the same thing.

Just like every company that does transactions for you, like credit card companies... They can't just offer you a service that costs you nothing and gives secure transactions. I would sooner use my paypal, because all they get is my email. If you buy something with your credit card online, you use your cc number, expiration date, and everything.

But anyways, I still don't believe this. I may just have to make an order off wgc to see if this is true or not.

I'm a big fan of paypal as well. Nice and secure. It's linked to my bank account, so money is taken out right away. And my CC is my backup in case of lack of funds. Means I don't have to enter my CC number anywhere online.

I've actually had friends get screwed by paypal. Withholding their funds and such.

I'd rather use some other online merchant than paypal but alas none of the other ones are very good. Paypal has become a standard but I still don't like it. I would much rather use google checkout.
