New Trader Rating System

If you haven't yet noticed, we've migrated all the trader ratings to a new, superior system. It's a little more Ebay-esque and should be less bug-ridden. You can see trader ratings under a user's info in posts in the various buy&sell forums, and you can access them through any user's public profile on the last tab within their profile.

Since the old system didn't take down all the information the new system records, all of the previous ratings will show up as both parties being a "trader" vs. buyer and seller, as is possible with the new system.

Please posts your comments and concerns here.

Stocko January 19th, 2011 16:21

I don't know if this is just me, but when I look at someones trader rating, it'll show me the comment but the whole comment won't be displayed

It'll be something like this

"Great trader, willing to..."

And there are no options to expand. For the generic comments I guess it doesn't matter, but for the more detailed negative reviews/ratings I would want to read those.

Thanks.

TheAngrySniper January 19th, 2011 16:22

I love how it looks now, very sleek looking.

Keep up the good work!

Padkiller January 19th, 2011 16:44

I actually like it !!!
I like the Ebay style, it's more visual and easier to see !

ya i noticed this about an hour ago too. I like it :D You can report false trader feedbacks now (didnt think it was available before) which is awsome!

Thanks staff!

Clicking on the comment itself will expand it so you can read the whole comment.

errrr...no it doesn't. Not Firefox friendly perhaps?

Eeyore January 19th, 2011 17:03

Aww man I was so close to getting a 5 star rating too.... :P

R.I.T.Z January 19th, 2011 17:06

I'm in firefox, the expanded part is below the summary

ex January 19th, 2011 17:16

now it seems to work...weird.

TokyoSeven January 19th, 2011 17:19

After further examination it appears that in your trader rating tab you can expand your own but I do not believe you can expand on others when you view theres. Perhaps some tweaking will be required by the admin staff.

Or maybe I just broke it, I dont know.

TechSeller January 19th, 2011 17:21

Works for me.

SHaKaL January 19th, 2011 17:25

Can you make multiple rating with the same person?
Like i buy 3 thing from the same seller at different time?

Stocko January 19th, 2011 17:36

It does not work when I travel to... say Tex's trader rating page. But for my own it works.

Qlong January 19th, 2011 17:38

Is it only displayed when the user creates a thread/post in the Classifieds?

Eeyore January 19th, 2011 17:45

Would it be possible to make it so we are able to read the whole written comment? Being restricted from seeing it kind of defeats the purpose no?

Mantelope January 19th, 2011 17:51

Issue observed, working on it now... and it's exactly why this thread exists. Keep the comments coming!

Mantelope January 19th, 2011 17:58

Alright, a couple hacks here and there and everyone should be able to view all trader feedback. Please post again if there are still issues.

Within individual threads, the information is only displayed under your userinfo when it's a thread in the buy&sell section. In all other forums (for example here) there is no trade rating info under your username, as you can see.

You can still view anyone's trade rating by viewing their profile, just click their avatar.

This part isn't set in stone... if users overwhelmingly want trader ratings under user info displayed site wide, I'm open to it, but I feel that since it should only really matter in the buy&sell, it's only displayed there.

Yes, but you're only permitted one rating every 24 hours. Unlike Ebay, each rating will add to/subtract from their trader rating, not just once per user.

Any way of having a feedback reminder like on ebay?
I hate having ho harass people to get feedback from them... seems counterintuitive.

There's an initial PM notification, nothing beyond that unfortunately. Besides, if they ignore the first one, would subsequent reminders really affect the problem much?

True...
So there's a PM sent to the person receiving feedback when you leave them feedback?

Yup, essentially:

"You have received a new Positive rating or comment from [user].

Details about this transaction can be found on your iTrader page (link).

Note: This is an automated message."

ACCL January 19th, 2011 20:43

I like the new trader ratings. But i think it should be displayed site wide (thats just how i feel dont flame me :D )

That's cool! I dig that.

juicy January 19th, 2011 23:46

Nice work. I like it, so far. As someone said, it would be nice if you could leave multiple feedback tidbits for one person in the case that you do multiple deals with them... if possible. Asides from that, no real complaints about the way it looks right now.

StrikeFreedom January 20th, 2011 00:15

After you clicked on a particular feedback, perhaps it can show both the seller's and buyer's feedback/comment relevant to that transaction?

Another feature you can implement is to link the feedback to the associated BST thread, regardless if it's "banana" or not. This way every transaction can be traced back.

pusangani January 20th, 2011 00:39

that would make the classifieds way more complicated as each thread would have to be registered like an ebay sale in order to be tracked/linked rather than a forum post.

Good news guys: all of these requests have actually been implemented from the start.

1) you can leave as many feedbacks as you want, and each one counts towards a user's score. However, you must wait 24 hours between rating the same person.
2) clicking on a particular feedback goes to the details of that feedback, and the buyer/seller can actually post replies, as if the feedback was actually a thread in a forum.
3) you can submit the original B&S URL when adding feedback, and it will be listed on the feedback detail page. This, of course, was not the case in the old rating system so that information doesn't exist for all the imported feedback.

Stocko January 21st, 2011 22:55

Hey Mantelope,

sorry for the trouble, just thought I'd point out that sometimes when you click on feedback (to expand) from another persons page it'll say you don't have the permission to see that feedback, why is that?

The system by default doesn't allow this so I had to do a bit of hacking, and I missed something allowing you to actually view the full contents of the feedback. Should be working now. Thanks for the comment!

MrBond January 26th, 2011 19:41

Hey Mantelope, just tried putting this URL of the transaction for the Trader Rating of a buyer and it kept giving me the error that it was an invalid URL. I finally just put it in the Comments section of the feedback but you might want to look into it since it was an ASC URL and should work...

Mantelope January 27th, 2011 15:39

Will do, thanks for the heads up.

the_griffinator February 8th, 2011 18:20

I'm having the invalid URL problem as well, this is the URL that it won't take.
