Carrying Dual Pistol's?

I'm just curious what the best way to carry 2 pistols? Dual Dropleg holsters maybe?

Ballcancer May 4th, 2010 01:39

I have one in a serpa holster on my leg rig and the other in another serpa the back of my belt.

Eien May 4th, 2010 01:44

Or you can go john woo style and put both guns behind your back.

StrikeFreedom May 4th, 2010 01:46

Dual droplegs, belts, chest crossdraws, shoulders, backs. O wait that's 10 pistols.

"Best"? There is no best. I found that carrying a pistol in a drop leg plus carrying a second USP in my (old) chest rig's integral mag pouch was just fine.

I do recommend that you go for holsters that don't have thumb breaks (unless you train rigorously with them) - they're a bitch to holster that way... that's just personal preference, and if your dual pistols are your primary, there won't be many occasions of your having to holster/draw you pistols anyway. It all boils down to personal preference and what you're carrying a pair of pistols for anyway. From my own experiences, drop leg stuff tends to slow me down, however, I find it more comfortable for the long run in terms of not loading my MOLLE belt up with too much shit.

Alternatively, you could run one drop leg plus one shoulder holster. Take a look-see at clips from The Punisher: War Zone... you'll see what I mean. He carries 4 pistols, one on his right thigh, one in his right armpit, one behind his back, and... uhh, I think there were 4? Anyway, take a look at the rig he's using. Now, add all your mags. Then, figure out which holster placements will work best for you. From what I can see, it looks like those holsters are of the hood-design (i.e. Safariland)... yes it might get expensive, but if you really want to rock dual pistols, you might as well ditch a fair chunk of cash on a holster rig that will work for you and will not fail you.

Firstly: I don't support carrying multiple pistols. It's more effective to carry one pistol and lots of ammo.

That said:

I would carry the primary pistol on/behind the right hip (Right handed), and the secondary pistol in front of the left hip, FBI cant, for a right handed draw. Then run all of the mags on the left hip and to the rear of your back.

Oh, use two pistols which can interchange magazines (Two 1911's might be a bit bulky... but maybe a Glock 17 on the right, and a Glock 26 on the left... using Glock 17 mags)

The concept is that it's faster to transfer the primary to the reaction hand, and draw the secondary, than it is to reload... I find this statement ridiculous... but it's the only reason to carry two pistols. If you're under the impression that firing two pistols at a time is more effective... you are wrong and there is no argument. Unless you are John Woo. He can get away with it, because he only reloads in the editing room.

It's something I've thought about, but never found practical. After dumping the two pistols of their ammunition, assuming you've survived, you now have to reload BOTH. Holstering one, reloading one, holstering that, then drawing the first, and reloading that. In which case, 9 times out of 10, the baddies have found you with your pants down and plinked you full of plastic.

It's just so much easier to run one pistol with many magazines.

Also cheaper, more reliable (you can buy one high quality pistol for the price of two), more accurate (firing a pistol one handed requires alot of practice, firing a pistol in your off hand even more, firing two is just not needed)

Styrak May 4th, 2010 03:57

Useless.

Carry 1 pistol and more mags (for the primary or pistol).

Well unless you are also doing ninja rolls, then you do need two

but yea 2 pistols is just not needed, if you have 2 then just switch them up once in a while if you want to play with both, if its a pistol only game then they are not holstered anyway :)

New York reloads is about the most use you'll be able to get out of two pistols on a field. Handy, yes. Worth the extra weight and expenses, no. ShelledPants has hit the nail on the head for this one.

Re: Carrying Dual Pistol's?

Rats. I just reconfigured my belt. You guys will have to wait for new pics of the dual wield reload system.

2 x g17
2 x uncle mikes kydex
1 x modded kydex mag holder

Duckman has his DW setup for 1911's. He's also know to carry upto 6 pistols. Most I've gamed are 4. Dual wield g17's, mk23 dropleg, and a p14. Used every pistol. :)

As was said, dual pistols is unnecessary and impractical at best.

That being said, how necessary are our large collections of guns or how practical is it bringing 5-6 guns with us to games? Neither are. They're just cool and we like them - sort of like dual-wielding pistons.

Santa says you're an engine :p

I say, who needs holsters? If you're dual wielding just pretend you're Jango Fett and shoot like hell.

And get a Jet pack.
