modifying KSC hop up to remove bearing

just wondering if anyone has attempted to modify a ksc GBB hop up to use something like a shredder or fishbone in place of the bearing?

whats been going through my mind is to shave the nubby off the stock KSC hop up rubber ... then taking a fishbone hop spacer and filing it to fit the inner curve of the hop up chamber

has this been successfully attempted yet?.. all I really find online is people whining about trying to find replacements for loosing the bearing (I received a pistol with no bearing and a torn up rubber.. hense why I'm poking around) .. and none in stock LOL

What kind of pistol?

If it has a KWA counterpart then parts can be had from the USA with no drama.

G19

Not Possible, The design of the KSC Hop up would prevent any form of modification from working. You can try looking for small ball bearings at Home Depot or some other places. Short of Designing and making your own hop up, your stuck with the bearing.

Edit : the KSC G19 is compatable with KWA G19 parts.

okay... stupid question.. do the kwa/ksc glocks share their hop up rubbers with their other GBB brethern? looking through KWAUSA for replacement bits .. and nadda

Reckless May 9th, 2010 23:42

never mind.. they called it an M19 ... duh

sigh.. but just mags.. no other bits listed

Is the bearing about the size of the ones in a 40mm grenade? I've never taken one apart to find out, but maybe they could work. I've seen the hopup rubbers around but I can't seem to find one right now. Maybe airsoftparts or ehobby or something like that.

Check out this link. I believe I see a ball bearing in the bottom left of the picture.

Hope that helps.

Since that replacement set is for an 18C, that ball bearing is most likely for the selector switch, not the hop-up.

The bearing is easy to make. I made mine from a soldering wire. It's working like a charm. The hard part is the hop up rubber itself. Last time, I have source, I get like 5 of them. Too bad, he didn't do it anymore.

Good to know. Makes a lot more sense as to why it's in the spring section. What is the size of the ball bearing? Anyone know? Would the 40mm's bearings work or is it bigger then that?

Reckless May 9th, 2010 23:53

they are tiny... dunno the size and I don't dare take apart my working G19 to measure (read: lose) it

I have one of those mag replacement spring packs for the G19.. I'm gonna feel real stupid if I have a BB in there... I have seen just the rubbers here and there..

the solder thing is a damn good idea.. drip some non cored solder into some water, should be a near perfect ball

The question wasn't directed at you. I understand you LOST it. I'm trying to HELP you by finding other alternatives. I know the 40mm grenade rebuild kits have very small ball bearings in them.

40mm bearings are too big - just compaired my G18C hopup bearing to a KA bearing set. The Glock hop up bearing is half the size.

Thanks tte. It's good to have that information. I'll keep a look out for them. About .5mm-1.0mm ball bearings then. Sounds like a good time.

I have one of these bearings left - PM your shipping address and I'll send it to you.
