Ics M4 Motor engaging but not shooting.

When I pull the trigger, The motor engages but it does not pull the piston all the way back. It pulls the piston half way and than nothing, if i hit the trigger again its just the motor engaging. I popped open the mechbox and cleaned out the grease and put her back together now all it does is screech.

i had the same problem with my ICS m16, by switching from a 8.4V battery to a 9.6V i was able to solve this problem.

see if you can get similar results by borrowing a 9.6V and see what happens.

Have you tried running your gun with another motor? Or with another battery?

Able1 June 11th, 2010 19:35

at the moment i'm running a crappy motor out of a broxa seeing as my ics one broke, my 8.4 ran it just fine. Is the screeching my motor?

ICS motors and pinion gears have a different angle of engagement that normal AEG motors and pinion gears.

So yes it's most likely the motor.

Your bevel(?? not sure if that the name, the one connecting the motor) gear may have split. I had that problem on my c-15. It still fired but with barely any power at all and made a real nasty screech.

I'm not familliar with ICS guns, but it could be many things.

Maybe the shimming that's too tight, battery that's too weak, aftermarket piston that doesn't fit well in the rails and cause jams, or simply motor that's not height adjusted.

Have you done any recent upgrade/downgrade that may have cause the problem?

I'd try with a quality battery first, then with a new motor + quality battery.

VooDooPeteK June 11th, 2010 19:45

also you said you put the motor from a broxa in it as your ICS broke.

Did the gun every work with that motor?

Able1 June 11th, 2010 19:49

i switched out the pinion gear I think its the shimming.

Boyso June 11th, 2010 19:50

Try removing everything except the gears (remove the ARL) and spin them by hand. Shouldn't rattle or anything. Shouldn't spin too much, or not enough. Hard to explain ^^

Able1 June 11th, 2010 19:58

lol thats the thing i cant tell if ive shimed to much.

Boyso June 11th, 2010 20:01

Should spin for about 2 secs. Try pushing on the bushings outside the GB. Is it any play?

Styrak June 11th, 2010 20:27

Did you read my post at all?

Able1 June 11th, 2010 20:38

it was working with the broxa motor before, ill try reshimming again and im gettin an ics 3000 motor so hopefully itll work out.

Boyso June 11th, 2010 20:53

It was working and it simply stopped working, or did you change something?
