Acoustic Absorption Mat for silencer/suppressor?
 

Just received my metal silencer today for my mp5sd in which I was very pleased to see that the front cap screws off so I can install some form of foam.

I have come accross this guide:

Can anyone suggest any better material? I was even thinking of taking a trip down to a home depot to see if they had anything better.

However, I do plan to follow this exact guide.

I bought a Silencer off of Amos, and he did something pretty cool. AEG spring was down the center to prevent the spongy foam from interrupting the BB's flight. The drilled PVC is a waste of time, there is little to no back pressure on the BB, and most of the noise is the sound of the piston hitting the cylinder head. You could do what that link says, only glue the foam baffles together and then place an AEG spring down the center for the most sound absorbency. Ultimately? Waste of time.

drilling holes into the inner barrel is not a good idea (I see that in the picture looking into the silencer), it'll create a bunch on indents (kinda like exit holes on metal from a bullet the way it's peeled back like that, but not as extreme) that the bb will get caught on, this will send it way off course, reverse back spin and if you use crappy BB's they could get stuck in the barrel.

you can't really get rid of them either, to sand them would mean scratching the shit out on the inside of the barrel making it just as crappy loosing seal causing friction etc

It is not the inner barrel... it is a 1/2" PVC tube piece.

But, to get the best sound absorbtion possible, you just want to use some foam rings with different inside hole size. That will "catch" the sound waves and not interfere with the BB.

oh well now I'm confused.

is the inner barrel going to extend into the silencer like normal ones? (which would defeat the purpose of drilling all those holes because the solid inner barrel wont let any air escape into the silencer)

or is the silencer going to screw on the flashider and no inner barrel extending into it? (could work but a 1/2" is a bit big no? there's not enough air generated to compress air in a vessel that large to effectivly have air flow into the foam, plus the bb could be vacuumed into a side of the silencer causeing it to bounce off course)

Closed cell foam with a spring is the way to go, some of the nicer cans even come with the spring included. That guide is a bit of overkill, there are way to many discs crammed in there. I can't see those being effective baffles.
