RS Type 56 Pistol Grip compatability?
Are there any pistol grips on the market that RealSword is comparable with?
I tried what I believe is a SRC AK47 grip - didn't go on, and a CYMA 74 grip and it went on (with the RS metal piece removed), but would have to be shimmed significantly at least. Has anyone tried other grips and had any successes/failures? I'd like to turn my 56-1 into a Romanian under-folder, but this pistol grip issue is holding me back. |
Kid.... Can you get me a few good pictures of the stock Type 56 pistol grip from different angles with something like a ruler for scale? If so I won't be able to thank you enough.

try the custom wooden kits made by Guarder.
they have specials for type 56. |
Link?
I've never heard of Guarder having wood kits for the RS Type 56 and google isn't helping. |
|
yeah.... that'd be a $700 pistol grip.
|
That's a type 56 conversion kit for TM stuff.

another option 'd be a real steel grip,i know a local store sells them just for $20.

Will the real steel grip fit the Real Sword motor? I know Real Sword makes a very externally accurate AK, but the real AK pistol grip is pretty thin.
|
I don't think so
Real AK grips aren't hollow. |
It would be a cool project, and if you can hollow out one of those then that would validate a key component in my upcoming project (seriously..... it's going to be started in 2012 hopefully).

No, a real steel one wouldn't fit.
That'd be my first choice. BTW, does anyone know what size the grub screw is that holds the stock cap on? I stripped mine and now my gun is stockless. |
Real grip wouldn't work for multiple reasons. First, it's not hollow. And second, AEG grips are larger than real steel to conceal the motor. It's not even an option

the pistol grip on ak variants is impossible to use real grips because of the motor, which is why on airsoft ak47's I actually prefer to use a plastic TM grip as it is thinner than any wood kit out there.
I have yet to see an airsoft ak wood pistol grip be the same dimensions as plastic, it would not be very strong after you've made it that thin. |
