Nooby LiPo Question
 

I've read on many different websites that LiPo batteries are dangerous and can cause extra wear to a AEG internals. However, a 7.4 V 20C LiPo gives a gun roughly the same ROF as a 9.6 V NiMH. Would the LiPo be more stressful towards the internals even though it gives the same ROF as the 9.6V?

a 9.6V non LiPo battery is on the upper end of the normal 8.4V.
So assuming what you have read is true, you will receive the same amount of wear as you would with a 9.6V, which is more then normal.

Depending on the internals, LiPos can be dangerous to a lower end mechbox, but a properly upgraded mechbox, or a good quality stock mechbox can stand up to higher ROF no problem. I have been running a 9.6V on my stock TM V2 for a VERY long time with no issues.

I am wanting to change to a LiPo because my current battery (stock 8.4V) can't pull a simple M110 spring. Any suggestions on what else I could do?

7.4v won't hurt the gun at all, however you should have the proper safety devices in place to make sure you don't cook your LiPo!

If you gun can't pull an M110 spring with an 8.4v NiMH mini, you should invest in a set of torque or super/double torque gears, and perhaps a stronger motor.
What brand/type of AEG are you using?

That's what I was thinking at first, but I used a car battery to see if it can pull it, and it did. The brand is AIM, but i have a SRC gearbox in it. The 8.4V mini is the stock battery, and I don't think the quality is too good on that.

How are you charging this battery, with a wall charger or a smart charger?

The quality of your battery is probably very poor. If you wanted to try a better NiMH battery before you invest in a lipo, charger, and MOSFET/low voltage detector, head over to www.cheapbatterypacks.com and get a better battery and charger. Or you can get AVd and you might be able to find one in the classifieds.

"Elite" makes excellent quality NiMH batteries

+1, my current 9.6V packs are made from 'Elite 1700 AA' batteries. They work much better, charge to a higher capacity, and last longer then my previous pack.

Agreed with the low voltage alarm. All it takes is one overcharge or too much drain and say bye bye. I've got one with a bit of swell and I certainly will not take my chances without the alarm.
