AEGs are fine under rain, but if there is no need to go underwater with it, just don't do it.

It may have worked for that guy, but just imagine all the rust inside if it wasn't properly dried and cleaned.

I have seen it done for a vfc scar as a test to prove its durability by field stripping it and dunking all the parts in water for a few seconds before reassembly. So really it all depends on the quality of the aeg itself

I'd like to see if this would be the same if the gun was a G&G or a JG. Classic Army is much better quality(at least when compared to my haggard gun), and I'd love to be able to claim that I can let my gun go underwater, but I'd be leery to try it and fuck up my only working gearbox.

My M4 survived claybank this year. With the amount of rain on day 1 I might have well have been in a swimming pool. A good strip down and wipe down that night and she was ready to rock for day 2.

you won't be cold that's for sure. You might be on fire...literally, in short one thing I do listen from my dad is don't mess with a battery (Phd in Corrosion engineering now working in NRC for Fuel cell research)

I'd love to see him submerge it for longer and allow the mechbox to fill with water then immediately shoot it. lol

First off, the main thing to be taken away here is that just because you CAN do something doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Any AEG can survive being submerged. Take it out of the water, give it a good shake to get some of the water out of it, and you're good to go. DC power conducts very poorly in water, so the chance of a short circuit or burning something out it next to nil. I wouldn't try that with a PTW though. They're very sensitive to moisture due to their circuit boards.

That being said, I would recommend that anyone that gets their gun very wet give it a good cleaning afterwards. Any steel parts will start to rust. The last thing you'd want is rusty mechbox internals. That could definitely cause some problems.
