Shipping Gas Guns and Mags
 

I am trying to sell my gas pistol and wondering about the legality of shipping a gas pistol within Canada. Also when it comes time to ship it out should I depressurize the mags (from a storage state of 15%)?

You shouldn't have magazines full of gas at all unless they're in use. Just a slight, tiny bit to keep the seals good.

Doesn't really matter. A lot of people, me included, keep gas mag full or nearly full when not in use.

same here, nuthin wrong with keepin them full, I ship em gassed all the time, the buyer should treat the gun cautiously until they've proven it safe anyway

You can ship your pistol no problem.

I leave my mags Full or nearly full all the time, I'd bleed a little gas before shipping.

On a side note I only keep the mags about 15% full.

I've had a GBB shipped to me with about 3-5 shots worth of gas in it.

Everyone is different, some people store them with no gas, others a few shots worth and even others fully gassed up. Really it's your choice, but for me I keep mine slightly gassed up (probably enough for 4-5 shots at most). I'm of the belief that by keeping some gas and therefore pressure in the mag the seals are preserved better (I'm no engineer or anything, but it seems to make enough sense to me).

Never ship mags filled ever it's a dangerous good and if not properly marked your fucked.
Be smart empty the mag for shipping and all is good.

This is why you bleed the mags a bit so they do not over pressurize when heated in shipping.

Keeping some gas in the mags at all times is a sure fire way to have it never leak. All the mags I have ordered recently from HK have had a small amount of gas in them - from the factory.

I'm thinking that anything that's ever held gas in it MUST be shipped with ground transport only.

I believe the only way to properly ship these items is by being properly labelled, though courier ground transport ONLY.

Mags are not labeled, on the mag or on the shipping box from factory. We have been doing it for years.

Propane is one of item not allow to ship with, I usually put some hfc134a in the mag before shipping. However, it all boils down to if you got caught. There's more thing you will be screw over than this pressurized item.

Valujet Flight 592. Improperly stored dangerous goods. Or in this situation a small pressurized container full of a highly flammable gas know as propane. For the love of god, do potential victims a favor, empty your mags before shipping them. The few days they spend in transit won't harm the seals and just may saves lives...and keep your ass outta jail!!

+1 on that. On the off chance that even a smallest thing might happen, its best that you prepare for it. There is a reason why engineers calculate failings points or w/e that they multiply it by a huge factor to ensure that safety isnt just tens a meter away but is a mile away.
