Helmets for BIG heads
Something like a 24" circumference is the measurement. I have tried a couple helmets and they always seem to be a strain and end up feeling like my melon is under pressure. Does anyone have any success with kitting this kind of a melon? Model, and source information would be appreciate. Looking for some rails and such and a comfortable chin strap etc.
Thanks for your input. |
My head is 24" too :D (23.5" maybe)
I use a PASGT no problems lol... I guess any helmet with those strap retentions are easily adjustable... But I doubt you can put rails and stuff on it... Otherwise if you have time, just go to Toronto since you're around Barrie area... You could probably visit Huang's and test his helmets, or go to TAC 11, they probably might have helmets... Maybe because my PASGT is a replica/plastic, my main complaint is how I hear a kind of echo/muffled sound when I talk hehe... |
Get a real helmet in Large size.
It's not much more expensive when you find one used. |
Not so worried about the cost, just wondering if anyone with same kinda melon has a model, size and source that that have found success with. Seems even the PASGT has various sizes available, plus no rails typically right?
Appreciate the comments though. I'll do osme more looking and any additional input is appreciated. |
For a 7 5/8 head you need a large MICH
Standard pads in a MICH are size 6, You can buy thinner pads if you think its too tight You should be alright tho. |

Most of the stuff mounted on helmets is held on by velcro, glue or a strap. Rails are kinda new and here is not much helmet specific items that can use them. Velcro is the way to go for now. |

My ContourHD mount is held by velcro, it's very solid. Yet if I bang it hard enough, it won't break, as the velcro will give before the mount. The camera is on a lanyard, so I won't loose it. No need for rail.
If your camera is heavy enough to need a rail, you will have to worry about your neck first. (o: |
