CA / G&G M14 mechbox upgrades
So I've done a bit of research, and I know all but a couple things I need to order, so I'm asking if anyone has had any experience with this mechbox.
What I've concluded from my research is the CA mechbox is basically a G&G clone, as such they have an irregular or proprietary cylinder head. The airseal nozzle is apparently an AUGs. The list of compatible mechbox parts are: V2/V3 Gears V3 Spring Guide AUG Airnozzle Short Motors V2/V3 Standard Cylinder V2/V3 Standard Piston V2/V3 Standard Piston Head G&G M14 Proprietary Cylinder Head G&G M14 Proprietary Tappet Plate (might be a V6 with some sanding) My question obviously is upgrading the cylinder head, I have found a G&G upgrade cylinder head. From what I can tell its just a cylinder head with an offset air nozzle Anyone have any experience with upgrading one of these? |
I am pretty sure they are both clones of TM, and anything for TM should fit them.

No, CA and G&G are not TM clones.

Very awesome site for anyone that comes across this thread and owns/wants to own one of these rifles. |
its a great review but only deals with Gen 1, afaik Gen 2&3 had significant improvements but I haven't seen a clear comparison.
I'm looking at upgrading the one I just bought, let you know when I find any worth while info |

hopup is an AUG unit.
I bought the g&g max version of the gun. I believe it has that upgrade cylinder head already installed. It also has something that piston and similar piston head, the head I think looks a bit different, but it is similar in style. I can't tell you for sure, I didn't look that closely at it when I opened it up. I did recently put in a standard CA poly carb piston with all metal teeth. I removed the first regular sized tooth like the factory piston and put in an m120 spring. The stock m100 and the original upgrade m150(I'm told) are about 1 cm longer when uncompressed. Reassembled, mine is shooting just a hair over 400, which will settle under once the spring is broken in. You do want to put a mosfet in asap, after about 8k-10k rounds my trigger block and contacts are starting to show the wear. The piston was starting to show some signs of wear along the teeth, so I replaced the piston as a precaution. |
